Yeah never heard such way of playing bass! I humbly try this riff everyday, and won't get it tonight nor tomorrow I guess🤫 Awesome eighth note, surgical precision, GoodOld90s bass sound....and EarlyTech.. waow Je dis: Bravo!
I love how both dudes are just jamming and having so much fun getting into it. Music is always better when the musicians are enjoying it like this! 😁✌️
Having a vast knowledge of the drums )applied and theoretical )my verdict on the drummer is this. The bassist may as well be using a drum machine, the drummer plays with next to no feeling or groove. I could understand the lack of innovative fills if the drummer had really got in the pocket of the groove, however he did not; leaving much to be desired. The bassist on the contrary is beyond virtuosic! And loved the video none the less 😋
Joseph Natana EXACTLY he plays perfectly on the drums... he is very tight and well timed... this is all remco asks for... the video is for the bass afterall
m1nty99 I actually admire the drummer holding back and just keeping the groove. You can hardly hear the bass drum and the bass guitar is mixed too high. Having sold my ‘74 Precision fretless with rosewood fretboard I regret it after seeing this, nice stuff👍
Man this is great! I saw this last night and couldn't help but move my head with a big smile on my face! I watched almost all your videos and they're all great but I can't stop watching this one. Such an awesome funky groove. I really dig your bass tone and how you come in on the "and" right away without waiting for a measure. Great tune I wish I had a cd of this!
It's a sneaky and confident slab of funk. Like Carne Asada. Lines cutting against the grain, opening up breaking points. Keeping the entire meal from becoming chewy and less memorable. You are a master at your craft and your professional approach, respecting the instrument, and also pushing its boundaries. Is classy and tasty.
Mick Karn and his frettless playing is not to be missed in music history. Mick don’t know some people. Mick Karn was the bass player of ‚Japan‘. -- This guy here is very good. Outstanding. Is Mick Karn much better that this guy here? I am really confused.
Some of the sickest riffs Ive heard in a very long time. Great playing. Particularly love your use of barring notes. So powerful. Also your various placements of harmonics. Great ynamics. Fantastic tone on this bass.
As much as this does have a Primus feel to it, You still have an extremely original sound and grooves going on. Your style is so great to listen to! I can’t wait for more music!
I've been playing for 40 years and you are GREAT. Way beyond my ability and I rarely say this. Perfectly crafted with drums, very creative bass lines and precise playing. Just phenomenal.
I have slowly gone from 3 fretted bass guitars and 2 fretless about a year and a half ago.now today I am seriously playing 4 fretless 1 not I am a regrettless fretless drop c bass beast.I wish all bassists a very behringer Christmas and a mesa Boogie new year.may your p bass be hummin as my 5 string ESP b 55 fretless keeps me from bummin this is straight from my Hartke 410s and my behringer ultrabass 3000h head I know even naughty kids gladly go to bed as its Van Halen is unchained and killing the grateful dead.so to you I say puff puff pass if you dont love my poem kiss my brown ass .life is a mosh pit and it's running fast .So pick up new strings so my sound is always a Christmas blast .so to all I say is ho ho show me your festive camel toe member it's always in this as pack a bowl .even in 20 it's still sex, drugs and rocknfucknroll merry motley cruehaunika wy a healthy Megadeth new year ...777
i am just luvin' all your vids. you two are an awesome combo ! playing them as background music around the shop as im wrenchin on my old harleys. i play bass, my brother drums, and this reminds me of when we used to just come up with whatever pops into mind back in the good old days. great work !
Whooooa.... 1:18 ,I've never heard sounds like that come from a bass guitar before, apart from your drummer of course you sounded like a one man band. Incredible playing.
Remco your videos are endlessly inspiriting, And as a result am now wrangling with it's owner for a fretless J with EMG"s and will have you to thank for sketching our a map of the journey ahead. You mentioned treating your fretboard with epoxy, do you recommend applying it in the form of an aerosol spray?
Cheers Gary, glad you're digging my stuff! If you'd like to treat it with epoxy I'd recommend brushing it on & sanding it down to get it levelled. If you'd prefer spraying, maybe polyurethane could be an option, it's less durable, but easier to apply. Best of luck with your new fretless man, enjoy!!
Awesome bro! I love how you point the camera directly to your plucking hand as well as your fretting hand! You are the only bass player that really does that of the thousands on you tube. Your technique is just so unique Remco, absolutely incredible!
I never thought i would ever have a similar Favorite Bass Player next to Les Claypool, but this Dude is right there!!!! He joins my list of awwed favorites along with Victor Wooten, Flea, Mark Sandman, MAIZINGS!!!!!!!!
+dandycliff2 I guess you haven't heard this joke. A guy summons the devil and asks: "How much for being the best guitarist in the world?" "Your soul", the devil replied. "That's a bit too expensive" claims the guy "What do I get for 10$?" And the guy became homeless for he'd become the best bass player in the world. :)
+dandycliff2 If you sell your soul you do not need anything. It is the same as if to sell computer in order to buy software. And no you cannot buy another soul.
7 years later and I still had the beginning riff stuck in my head
Same, it's just so funky
make that 8 years, man
9 years for me dude. I catch myself whistling and humming that shit almost everyday somehow
Yeah never heard such way of playing bass! I humbly try this riff everyday, and won't get it tonight nor tomorrow I guess🤫
Awesome eighth note, surgical precision, GoodOld90s bass sound....and EarlyTech.. waow
Je dis: Bravo!
10 man!
I love the riff that starts at 1:18
deserves it's own song imo! Could be a great Primus song. You're great man!
That would basically be Wynona's Big Brown Beaver. Lol.
It is one. Lol
he was kidding
LOL I THOUGHT THE SAME THING
This is dope
Bass + drums = best rhythm section(and beyond) imaginable.
True! I want to hear a guitar player and singer lay their tracks on top of this! What’s not to love?
After 35 years of rock'n'roll, I think I've found my definitive favourite bass player ever.
Wait till you find out about Les Claypool
@@BudderB0y2222 Hi, I don't know how old you are, but I listened Les Claypool for the first time around 20 years ago...
@@zeelias_zezito65 Hi, I'm 76.5 years old and my original comment was sarcastic.
@@zeelias_zezito65 Bro that is nothing, I know people that listened to him 40 years ago.
check out Charles Berthoud
I love how both dudes are just jamming and having so much fun getting into it. Music is always better when the musicians are enjoying it like this! 😁✌️
1:18 sounds like a mix between Primus and Pearl Jam. Fucking sick bro keep it up!
+Trolls Boggle they suck (:
thats their slogan
ok lol
+Trolls Boggle hey, its my other account, check out my new my name is mud tutorial if you'd like (:
It does yeah.
Dont forget the drummer, holding his own too.. Awesome...

that drummer pulled it all together. Great playing on both parts
This is definitely one of my favorite fretless grooves in your playlist.
props to an excellent drummer too
Your style, grooves, and playing reminds me a lot of Les Claypool. Keep the great work up.
HOLY SHIT, the most innovative and fresh bass i've listened so far!
Man this is great! I saw this last night and couldn't help but move my head with a big smile on my face! I watched almost all your videos and they're all great but I can't stop watching this one. I literally can't stop smiling when listening to this.
That’s the funkiest bass line I’ve heard in a long time🔥🔥🔥🔥
Naprosto s Vámi souhlasím !!!
I just made a fretless out of an old bass, it's such a phenomenal way to encourage creativity
This one just makes me happy! Chuckling at how freaking bouncy and unexpected this groove is 🤘❤
Sounds like Primus at some points, great work and style :D
***** It's probably just Geddy Lee with a lot of time on his hands.
60% primus
30% drums
Zaqq do you say for a sliced melody?
Probably because of the fact that he uses a fretless bass, has some similiar effects on and implements percussive playing.
Excellent
I love how aggressively punchy your tone is! A+ man!
I wonder if/how much compression is used here… and how much of this coming from THEESE FINGERS.
it is amazing how the video captures the vibrations of the strings and his fingers
He's like a mix of jaco and les claypool
Not 2 mention MARK KING & or John Taylor
He slaps like Flea too!
Mick Karn and his frettless playing
is not to be missed in music history.
Mick don’t know some people.
Mick Karn was the bass player of

This guy here is very good.
Outstanding.
Is Mick Karn much better that this

I am really confused.
He’s using the claypool fx pedal
Justin Brule Yes Flea slaps. That is a fact.
Cant stop moving. Happy music!!!!
The sound, the groove, the phrasing and the tasty licks are just amazing
This is just beautiful!
Great coloured kit. Classic
Primus is strong with this one
The thing that i like about fretless basses are the fact that they have probably the best sounding tone
Holy sht this video is 10 years old
solid play! bravo!
Some of the sickest riffs Ive heard in a very long time. Great playing. Particularly love your use of barring notes. So powerful. Also your various placements of harmonics. Great ynamics. Fantastic tone on this bass.

True bassist, heart and soul!
1:52 has so much funk that you might cause a heart attack to someone not ready for it!
Gun Sam holy sht it does

Amazing! Love the fretless sound :)
This is uber-cool. What an impressing groove! :)
Ramco this is mental ! What a tone too!
I absolutely love all of your grooves. They are an inspiration. They are so musical not just jibberish or play on a bass that is not actually bass.
That octave riff @ 1:19 seriously rocks.. Def hear some Primus vibe in the double-stop riff too. Nicely done man..
Perfectly technical and emotion. Congratulations for yours
All I can say is "Holy crap!"...that was amazing mate....
Damn brother! Seven years later and the groove is still a mighty beast!
Wow, that was fun and one big inspiration. After 25 years of playing I ordered my first fretless yesterday. Can't wait. :)

Outstanding!! What year of Jazz is that? American or Japanese? You guys have really come up with something very, very cool!
Thanx a lot! It's a japanese jazz, made in '89.
Just amazingly great bass playing. Thanks really enjoyed.
Love the hint of Rage Against The Machine
That was funky and it was funky. Nice. Very nice.
Fucking awesome!
Hope you guys are still grooving up there in heaven!! God bless
Still wish I had the dreads, still with I had the grooves...
You and bucket head would have a great band with all that talent you two possess.
Очень интересно.!!! Звук шикарный.!!! школа блеск.!!!
Absolutely fantastic, the pair of you!
Masa, más conocido como Masa.
Remco has posted hundreds of videos since this one, but I still keep coming back to this one after all these years
omg only 30k subs, you need at least a "0" plus in this number :)

inspiring fretless playing. so melodic and great intonation. Wonderful!
