Love this song. Reverend Al Green had a string of hits but this is his biggest hit. Barack Obama sang this song 🎵 in an interview once as he is a big Al Green fan. He sounded great. Another great memory. Thanks Harri. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Al Green is one of the all time greats. I have watched videos of him playing the guitar. He is very good. Check him out doing Love and Happiness on Soul Train Its one of the few times you will see a live band perform on the show.
Another great soul singer. "Let's Stay Together" was Al Green's biggest hit. But he had a lot of great songs in the 70's including "Take Me To The River", "Tired Of Being Alone", "I'm Still In Love With You", "Love & Happiness", "For The Good Times" etc. He also became a pastor after facing a tragedy in his life (girlfriend's suicide) & performed gospel music for a time.
I have loved Al Green since I first heard his voice, he is a gift to the world 💗 He and Sam Cooke & Marvin Gaye are my all time favs, I can listen to them all day long ❣️You should watch him sing to Tina Turner honouring her at the Kennedy Center Awards, as well watch Al Green being honoured at Kennedy Center Awards 😄
Another fantastic choice of music to react to, Harri! I was impressed with Tina Turner's version. And then I got to hear "Let's Stay Together" by Sy Smith and Pete Escovedo. It just keeps getting better and better.
Always loved this song (I almost always included this on romantic mixtapes, usually with Marvin Gaye's Let's Get It On) Another Al Green classic that you probably know is Take Me to the River. There's a wonderful live version by the Talking Heads from their concert film... Stop Making Sense. So... Ener... Getic!! Check it out sometime. Cheers!
I learned a great policy from one of my friends and neighbors in Memphis. She would take out of town visitors to Graceland, but only on Sunday. They’d go to Al Green’s church for an hour or so before moving on to Graceland. The two locations are quite close. It made going to Graceland more fun, plus Al Green’s church was free with live music. He’s an awesome singer, and this is a terrific song. Thanks for sharing your reaction to this from his younger days. Loved it!
Although this is the song he's most known for, my personal favorite Al Green song is "Look what you done for me." He also has another song called "Love and Happiness" which was an album track, not a single, but was really worthwhile.
This guy is the best music reaction channel on UA-cam. He is very open minded, tries to understand the meaning of lyrics ect and u can tell he adores all kinds of music. Harribest wish you nothing but the best, and look forward to the next one
Al Green had such a great voice! Another song around the same time was by Dobie Gray, called "Drift Away." You might have already reacted to it, not sure. But it's from '73 (I think)! Great reaction Harri and thanks
You should do his version of "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" from this same show - it's brilliant. There are several vids of him doing Let's Stay Together on the David Letterman Show - super high energy. One is the night after he was inducted to the Rock and Roll HOF
While I like his music I was never really a fan, but I gained a great deal of respect for him when he walked away from a successful musical career to devote himself to enter the ministry sacrificing self interest to serve others takes a strong person
I understand the logic of why you did it, but sadly this live version is nothing like as good as the record which is a masterclass in phrasing and emotional singing as well as production. IMO a lot of that is lost here.
No ear piece, no auto tune no drama, just a soulful man singing ❤
I have heard this song for 50 years and it still sends shivers down my back,What a masterpiece of music.
Such a great song!!!!!! Such an out of this world singer. The horns!!!!!! Exquisite.
Al Greens music has had a hand in populating the entire world.
Saw this live in circle star theater as a teen. South San Francisco Ca. 1973. Maybe?
Al Green one of the best Rhythm and Blues singer and many babies were made to this song, fantastic
The entire 'Let's Stay Together' is an R&B landmark. I love that album!
Love to listen to his voice, very smooth. He sings in the Church now as he’s a full time pastor I believe. Thanks for your reaction Harri. 👍
yes. I believe the denomination he's in is Assembles of God. It is Pentecostal.
Al Green, Willie Mitchell and Royal Studios. A collaboration made in heaven.
Love that smooth voice!!!

I just love this song by Al Green. Actually any song by Al Green. Great choice Lori.
I think this is such a great song, that beautiful voice of Al. I used to dance on it in my disco days. A long time ago, in the early seventies. 👍👍💕💕💕
wish, wish he was still performing......he is truly blessed and is still blessing us
One of the greatest songs ever ...
Al Green will never disappoint. Any place or time and occasion.❤️🎧

Al Green comes on, and I can’t help but move! ❤️🔥

Back to the early 70s. I was 14, and this was new when I had my first girlfriend. Great memories Harri!
Thank you, Bro!

So effortless for Al. Incredible talent ❤🌟
hes a preacher now

Nice!
Let's All Stay Together!
Love your channel, Harri!
Baby makin’ music!
And he wrote it, with a little help but...Great song from back in the day...
The other great AL is AL Wilson. You'll love his hit Show and Tell - great R&B hues.
Baby making music for sure.
Please, also do “Let’s Get Married” for Al Green funky and getting down with his bad self.
Just a slight correction. This was the cover song for the album Let's Stay Together released in 1968. Classic love song.
I knew you would know this one.
I was wondering if you've been living under a rock not knowing this song until you finally said you have heard it before.
You should do his version of "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" from this same show - it's brilliant. There are several vids of him doing Let's Stay Together on the David Letterman Show - super high energy. One is the night after he was inducted to the Rock and Roll HOF

Plaid was big in the 70s
Tina Turner did an awesome rendition of this Al Green hit.
BOBBY WOMACK 11OTH STREET
Lovely song but is Mr. Green singing to tracks? Where are the sweet backing vocals coming from? Oh dear 🙃😂
Tina Turner did the best cover of this great song!☮️❤️
Hi Harriman could you please spin The BEATLES EIGHT DAYS A WEEK
I understand the logic of why you did it, but sadly this live version is nothing like as good as the record which is a masterclass in phrasing and emotional singing as well as production. IMO a lot of that is lost here.
