BJ is SO right! Don’t mess with Al Green! 🤣. Playlist since it came out…this is mine & my husband’s song and my ringtone. Never gets old!! Thanks for this! ❤️
This man it's just one of the most soulful singers ever, I saw him in the late nineties at the Beacon theater in New York City and he is just phenomenal. His voice was still intact, hit all the notes along with rising inflections and ad libs . He sounded just as good as he did on the records that I listen to in the early 70s I was a little kid listening on my transistor radio and to my older sister's albums.. Except this time nearly 30 years after I first got turned on to his groove. There he was 5 ft in front of me on the stage!!!! Live in the flesh commanding all attention!!!!He was handing out roses to all the girls in the first few rows where I was sitting. The guy still had the Midas touch!!!
Great reaction guys! Al Green is such a vibe with his smooth and soulful style. Just love this song! In life you're going to have those up and down moments. My wife and I have been married 52 years and we've had good times and bad. But we've stayed together through it all. Asia and BJ you have a beautiful relationship and complement each other so well. Ya'll remind me of my wife and I when we were young. I wish you the very best.❤
1971, and I was in the 8th grade and would sing this to my girlfriend. I'm 67 years old now, and what memories this song brings back. Al Green was "The man" in the early to mid 70s.
This song reached #1 on the Billboard Top 100 in '71, remained on the charts for 16 weeks, and was widely played on AM radio throughout the country. Al Green was truly one of the earliest black artists to appeal to young white Americans.
You guys crack me up, and, yeah, this is a shortened version because there is some very fine singing that goes on afterwards. Great music will go on from one generation to another, because I'm here to tell you that I heard this song in 1971, when it first came out, and I was 23 at the time and it's still such a matchless piece of music by Green after all these years. My legs may not be stable, but I'm still able to groove around hearing this. Big thanks, Asia and JB. Robert, 74, UK.
You just hit the song that turned me on to the Fabulous Sweet Soul Sound of the late 60' s and 1970' s that I discovered at 12 years old and it' s some of the greatest music and singers that were ever created
My fav Al Green. Even though there are more technically pure vocalists, Al just has that vibe that makes him one of the best. If you haven't reacted to Tired Of Being Alone yet. That's worth a listen. Great reaction!
Another great soul singer. "Let's Stay Together" was Al Green's biggest hit. But he had a lot of great songs in the 70's including "Take Me To The River", "Tired Of Being Alone", "I'm Still In Love With You", "Love & Happiness", "For The Good Times" etc. He also became a pastor after facing a tragedy in his life (girlfriend's suicide) & performed gospel music for a time.
My daughter is 39 since I can remember that she has been married with kids I never went in her house Al CD wasn't blasting while she was fixing dinner and dancing with her 3 girls. Kitchen was full of flavor and ❤️ love.
Love al green music but with timeless classics like this one how can you not love his music. Other great songs of his are simply beautiful, (his version of the bee gees song)how can you mend a broken heart, what a wonderful thing love is, i'm still in love with you, and belle.
Al is Fantastic! He evokes the emotions and the soul of the song! Yes, you were robbed....his ending on the song should never be cut off! It's criminal! I'm with BJ!
Ahhh, AL Green. A great part of why growing up in the 70s were a magnificent time. His "I'm Still In Love With You" is another mover. He has so many. He, Barry, and Marvin round out the trifecta of why so many were conceived in the 70s.😁
Thank you for playing Al Green I've been listening to him since I was 11 he is the greatest President Obama sang the song to Michelle Obama on TV I remember that
Al Green was the man!! I had this 8 track and wore it out.❤ You have to see the Live video of him with Chicago backing him on “I’m So Tired of Being Alone.” It is so awesome!!❤️
The one that will blow your mind is: 🩷AL GREEN "How Do You Mend A Broken Heart" (Live on Soul 1972)🩷 it leaves me speechless. It's a Bee Gees song that he truly made his own. Barry loved it.
Yes, The incomparable Reverent Al Green. I have his Greatest hits on Cassette. Al did a great cover of The Bee Gees tune "How can you mend a broken Heart," it was included in the Soundtrack for the Movie "Book of Eli" starring Denzel Washington. I like "Love and happiness; Tired of being alone, I'm still in love with you & Lets stay together," The last 2 songs were released in 1972. I heard "Never Nothing" Asia I'm impressed, You make BJ proud. I hear Guitar Arpeggios in the middle of the Mix, that'd be an awesome addition to the Mix, Nice Chords and the Vocals are impressive and Soulful. I like Alicia Keys "Songs in the Key of A Minor." I have a few R&B, Jazzy & Funk originals that lack Lyrics, been procrastinating finishing but hearing "Never Nothing" was inspiration much needed. You both are Cool, Stay Warm and Take Care.
There was a time when music was good, and I mean good. During that time, there was music that elevated itself above others, and I mean elevated. Then there were songs such as this, songs that were born in heaven, sung by an angel, and I mean an angel. Al Green...just too special for mere mortals like me to listen to. He is the epidemy of soul, his voice, his delivery...it just pierces my soul and makes me feel sooooooo good.
Oh my! Story time lol I was blessed to be enriched by black culture, my best friend and his family. Such memories of staying over his house and those cook outs when the family and friends got together eating, the music, the smell of food in the air oh my. The ladies would put this song on and tell me "come here baby" dance with us they love this little chunky white boy moves lol They used to tell me oh my you can move, and I used to eat it up! lol Al on in the background and that food goodness what good memories. Miss those times so much. Thanks for the post guys and the memories lol Stay safe and much love Asia and BJ
I love Al Green, a Memphis treasure. One of my friends in Memphis shared with me her Graceland policy. She’d take guests from out of town to Graceland, but only on Sunday after they went to Al Green’s church first. (They are surprisingly close.) It was a great plan, so I stole it. Made for an interesting trip!
This is my FAVORITE Al Green song. Back in the day, all of us little teeny-boppers were secretly thinking of throwing our drawers up on the stage! This is such a sexy song, and NO ONE will ever sing it as well as Al Green.
Al is one of the 5 or 6 great all-time soul singers: Ray, Sam, Otis, Aretha, James and Al. Check out Al's "Love And Happiness" or "I'm Still In Love With You" next. 😊
If you opened up my 8 track box in the early 70's there sat Al Green right in the middle of Grand Funk, Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin, Alice Cooper, David Bowie, Deep Purple. Al was there to keep me in check with all that rock.
One of the BEST soulful love songs of all time. If this doesn't get you in the mood, better check your pulse. Hey guys, if you hard it hard to find the words, just play this for your girl...Mission accomplished!
Ah, yes. The Reverend Al - voice smooth as butter. A classic r&b from a legendary voice.🔥👍
Al Green is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! Can't beat
The 70's !! ❤️
Smooth and soulful. Al Green is phenomenal.
I remember as a kid listening to this on AM radio! Good times!
😎✌️❤️
BJ is SO right! Don’t mess with Al Green! 🤣. Playlist since it came out…this is mine & my husband’s song and my ringtone. Never gets old!! Thanks for this! ❤️
One of the smoothest voices ever. My momma loved him. She had soul and so did he.
This song is easily in my top 10 of all time. Such a classic and BJ is right you never get tired of hearing this one.
Same here! It's so under-rated.
@@gigantor62 Top 5 for me

Classic 70s soul. Ain’t nothing like it
You can say that again lol so true
Mother used to have Al Green parties... Nothing but his music! Thanks for the memories Momma! RIP❤
Silky smooth 70's mood music, nothing like this now, Al had many classics.
Man, that trumpet!
Great reaction guys! Al Green is such a vibe with his smooth and soulful style. Just love this song! In life you're going to have those up and down moments. The incomparable Al Green. A voice so smooth, like a cool smooth summer breeze. This song is Great
Met him a few times in Memphis, my wife worked for the company that handles his securities. The Rev. Al Green is a very nice person🌹

Al Green had smoothness in abundance. This may be an oldie but it's definitely a goldie and has stood the test of time. Fabulous song ❤
The Reverend Al !! Nice reaction. Back in the 70’s, radio would play this song 12 times a day, didn’t bother me one bit !! 😁
Thank you for playing Al Green I've been listening to him since I was 11 he is the greatest President Obama sang the song to Michelle Obama on TV I remember that
Great song to begin your show. Incredible performance from The Reverend!!!

🩷AL GREEN "How Do You Mend A Broken Heart" (Live on Soul 1972)🩷 it leaves me speechless. It's a Bee Gees song that he truly made his own. Barry loved it.
Girls in high school used to dance to this in class when it came out and schooled this rock n roll guy. I still have his greatest hits album.

Al green’s tracks always manages to fuse gritty drums with smooth soul melodies-it’s miraculous…Love & happiness is another great track of his💯

Al is The Man! I agree BJ.. that voice is like no other..soulful.

It was cut short! Beautiful song, great delivery. Miss the ‘70s but still have the music and movies to keep me happy
This is my FAVORITE Al Green song. Back in the day, all of us little teeny-boppers were secretly thinking of throwing our drawers up on the stage! This is such a sexy song, and NO ONE will ever sing it as well as Al Green.
I remember listening to this in 1972 on WLS (AM) in Chicago. Don't know what my older sisters were listening to, but yeah: this is 100 my music.
You just can’t get any better than this ! Honestly , his voice is so sincere and soulful . This song is part of my childhood and it never gets old .
Yes sir! Al Green, Marvin Gay, Barry White, Luther Vandross will just melt your heart!

Al is one of the 5 or 6 great all-time soul singers: Ray, Sam, Otis, Aretha, James and Al. Check out Al's "Love And Happiness" or "I'm Still In Love With You" next. 😊
Always loved this song! He had a style like Smokey Robinson but had a richer voice. Love your reactions especially to an all time great love song

AL is definitely smooth and has a unique style. 👌
Just let me say this... Let's Stay Together💯❤️❤️ Love our FAM Asia and BJ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
If you opened up my 8 track box in the early 70's there sat Al Green right in the middle of Grand Funk, Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin, Alice Cooper, David Bowie, Deep Purple. Al was there to keep me in check with all that rock.

I love all kinds of music but I can honestly say this song is the greatest song ever made. It’s quite literally perfect in every way.
Saw him live, in Oakland, with Buddy Guy and Santana. That was a great show.
Great singer
Man!! My dad was playing this for me when I was a kid. Top 5 soul by far. Played it at my wedding
This song is responsible for more children being born than Nick Cannon.
Holy hell, lol 😂, can't agree with you more
🤣🤣🤣
The Reverend!!! .... just amazing!!
Man that brings me back ! Best if the best
Love this one! My parents used to play this when I was a kid & now it's on my play lists. I can still see the album cover too.
