It always warms my heart to see an engaged daddy. Your sons not only love what you do for them, they are learning skills and how to be good daddies themselves. God bless you. You make a difference,
This is an absolutely amazing treehouse! You are one heck of a carpenter! Thanks for posting this - awesome idea on the locking bucket pulley system. I'm going to try to create a (far inferior) version for a (far inferior) treehouse.
Great project! Looks awesome. I am interested in building or buying something like this for my daughter’s tree house. My only concern is the safety of the basket when going back down. My daughter’s tree house is about ten feet up. If the basket is released without some sort of control, it could really hurt someone below. Have you had any issues like this? I know your basket is not as high up. Thoughts on how to have a controlled up AND down movement? Thanks so much!!!
On ours, there's enough resistance in the center shaft that it slows down the descent. To build in that resistance, just make sure your pivot holes in the side pieces aren't too large. Big enough to rotate, but not so big that it's bouncing around in there.
Hi, I made one of these by copying your video, is there a way that loads can go slowly back down? I have a treehouse in my classroom and I'm hoping that students can take their game up into the treehouse to play it and then lower it back down.
This is amazing. I am currently building a large playground for my kiddos and love this bucket pulls system! Have you been able to draw up your design for this?
Don't worry, as long as it's something fun to climb on, my kids are happy and yours probably will be too! Kids are usually great customers! Good job for planning to build one!
Right now I have not made more than one of these and I'm making a few design improvements. Eventually I will make some kind of template or plan for them but for now I only have the video posted.
@@sethvanorden1 Actually I'm finished with the sketches but am just writing up some instructions so it should be ready in the next 2 weeks. I'll let you know!
Do you have the measurements of the locking crank? Can I change the measurements for say max 75 lbs of load? If so what measurements and how do I do that? I'm doing this for my elderly parents. I really need help. Pls tell me what other materials I need to buy. This would be my first project out of necessity.
Plans are now available at www.eveningwoodworker.com/buyplans If you wanted to increase the load that it can handle/carry, you could build the same design and do it out of stronger materials (hardwoods or even metal).
Jenny, I'm glad you like it! Unfortunately, since this is still just a hobby I don't usually have a lot of time to make stuff outside of the projects I make in the videos. If I do decide to start making more of these and selling them, then I will let you know! Thanks
Is there any way you managed to get around to drawing plans for this incredible little machine so the rest of us incompetent engineers can also make one for our kids?
Hey thanks for the reminder! I haven't gotten to that yet but this quarantine is going to give me some time. So it's back on my list! Sorry for the delay.
Unfortunately, I didn't sketch much on paper, but that one wouldn't be too hard for me to draw up. I'll see what I can do. The circular sides are 3" in diameter.

Thank you! I really appreciate that! I've never been a fan of the clueless disengaged dad stereotype.

Thanks! I really couldn't agree more. Like and share!

Gotcha. Would you ever consider making one that I can buy? Or do you have a pdf of the plans with dimensions? Much appreciated.
Would you consider making one of these systems for sale? It is brilliant!
I do have the plans for sale on my website eveningwoodworker.com/buyplans

I'm mad at you for how great this is. The one I'm planning is 2x4s, deck boards and plywood. Now I feel boring. 😜

It's alright, my skills aren't to your level of woodworking yet anyway. They will have plenty of fun! Great work though man!
Thanks!
