The final time for the Tyranitar is Unfair. Since the Ttar run has an extra text line with its sand stream (and possible sand damage), which adds up to be a couple of minutes more spent. So good that you mentioned it at 10:45.
That weather text hurt so much! Simply for my own edification I'd be interested in a run without Sandstream. Maybe when I eventually break into a later Gen I can try against with T-tar having Unnerve instead.
This is actually a really good vs. All three Pokémon have different types to make each run unique. Makes me wish that Pokemon would give us more pseudo Legends that are not exclusively Dragon types. As cool as Dragons are we could use some more other type combos as pseudomons.
There are a disproportionately high amount of Dragon types among the pseudos, eh? I'm looking forward to revisiting this VS in Gen 4 so the moveset diversity can broaden a bit. And Sandstorm does more for Tyranitar than cause a lot of text to show up on screen.
Please dont feel compelled to make shorter videos Mister Egg, they are perfect for my night shift! Also, is your favorite pokémon Exeggcute? Have a good day!
I love making the long form content! It just takes more time to produce is all. My favourite Pokémon is not Exeggcute! Though I can see why you'd think so. My fave is Gyarados, has been since I was a little kid. Gyarados was the best Pokémon card too. Foil. Obviously :)
I love the video and respect the amount of effort it must have taken for a three-way competition. I see 14 away from 1k. Pity I can't add to it without subtracting my sub first. One small correction, Revenge does not power up based on percentage of HP remaining. That would be Reversal. The Revenge Machoke knocked Tyranitar out with was only _720_ base power. (60 base, x 2 for being hit, x 1.5 for STAB, x 2 for dark, x 2 for rock for 60 x 12)
You are correct! I guess I confused the two I just saw "Re...." as I clicked away and assumed it was Reversal. Good catch! I'll make a note to have a correction in the Salamence video :)
Great vid as always, really looking forward to the Salamence vid (it's my favorite Pseudo) Someone's probably mentioned it but until Gen 6 Steel resists both Ghost and Dark so Metagross only takes natural damage. something to keep in mind if you ever do gen 4 or 5 solo runs and use Metagross (or Bronzong)
Thanks I appreciate it :) I'm having so much fun with the Salamence video. It's so darn powerful! That's good to note concerning typing. More things to try to keep track of I guess! I'm breaking into Gen 4 soon and I think I'll be having a lot of moments of "Um, which Gen am I playing again?" in my future.
@@Eggsceptional no problem and I hear ya, it's hard to keep track of all the changes between gens, ones that constantly trip me up are Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, Surf, and Ice Beam being 90 base power and Fire Blast, Thunder, Hydro Pump, and Blizzard only being 110 base power starting in Gen 6 and some older Pokemon getting stat changes like Raichu gaining +10 to speed, they're small changes but somehow they trip me up every now and then.
@@lumineinfinitussilverkagat8094 To think I can barely handle the Steel typing offensively in one Gen how am I going to balance all these facts? My poor spaghetti brain... That's why I'm running it as a Nuzlocke first to try to learn as much of the game as I can
This vs format definitely makes it more interesting than the solo pokemon videos. I'll gladly watch either format though 😊. As a gen 1 biased geezer i gotta suggest a series of Machamp vs Alakazam vs Gengar vs Golem.
All of the trade evolutions I like it. I've been wanting to play through with them indivodually too and setting them to evolve at 36 or something. I'll add it to the list thanks for the comment :)
Admittedly the pseudos have been a ton of fun, but there is a point where stomping through the game with relative ease gets old. I'm excited to move onto the fossils they're so diverse!
Oh be something you love and understand. Baby, be a simple kind of man. Oh won't you do this for me son if you can? Glad you're enjoying the content :) Thanks for the sub!
Rock does not resist Rock that's true.. I've been making a note of that a lot in subsequent videos :) The SpD boost from Sandstorm isn't introduced until Gen 4 unfortunately, so it really was just chip damage and extra text all run.
17:33 I know this question is intened to be a joke, but it always drives me kinda crazy. Obviously these games have been out for forever so everyone knows you can't really do anything in lavender town, at least now. However, when the originals first came out in the late 90s and the internet was way less of a thing than it is now, nobody knew that. So you would get to a new town and explore, thats pretty much what the game taught you to do before this point. Anyways sorry if it seems like I'm trying to give you a hard time, I've just heard several solo runners say that and it kinda drives me nuts. I like your video style and you got a sub from me!
That's a good point. If you haven't played through these games 1000 times then every area you get to would prompt exploration. Oh no I can't see these ghost things I'll go check out somewhere else! I'm glad that despite driving you nuts I've earned your sub :)
As a player that usually runs as fast as possible I cringe at the thought of that much training. But you're so right.. they would be a force to be reckoned with
My Guess will be Metagross Because typing and strength. than Dragonite because its a strong beast. but last is Tyranitar. purely because Sandstream will probably eat a lot of time. Also randomly saw your Poliworl Politoad video on autoplay. youtube must have really wanted to promote you to anyone into pokemon. glad, because you make video's interesting.
I'm glad that you're enjoying the videos!! Poor Tyranitar suffered so much time loss because of the weather. And he didn't even get to benefit from the 50% increased Sp.Def because it's Gen 3!
@@Eggsceptional Poor Gojira pokemon. Not even getting the benefits. Not to mention the fighting weakness. which is so much more common than Ice attacks
@@dee7571 It's so true! Dragonite had like 3 spots to be aware of Ice Moves. Tyranitar had a bunch! And so many were random encounters that took my totally off guard.
6:32 Metagross is not weak to dark or ghost in its debut generation. I believe the steel nerf happened in gen 6 with the advent of the fairy type giving it one too many niches and Aegislash who's typing would have been too broken with no weakness to ghost or dark.
You are correct! I did get this wrong. I didn't fact check myself and went with the first typing matchup that I saw, not realizing the newer Gens had changed it since Gen 3. My bad! Thanks for the correction :)
This was an epic 3 way. Making me wonder how you would tackle the flock of Normal/Flying birds. There're 6 of them across 3 generation, plus Swablu but that's a special case. It could even be a 3 ways team battle of Noctowl+Swellow the newcomers, versus Pidgey+Fearow+Dodrio the OG birds, versus Farfetch'd the often forgotten. Which would win? The Gutsy Swellow and his special sidekick, the power of team work from the OGs, or the sole little duck that could?
I like it! 3ways with the birds will likely have to wait until 2024, but I've definitely got them on the list. I feel like Swellow might steal the show a little with Guts/STAB Facade. They're going to be such fun runs to do though. Farfetch'd might get lumped in elsewhere. Fartfetch'd with a Stick, Cubone with a Thick Club, Pikachu with a Light Ball.
I need a bonk counter that tallies them automatically it's so bad. Particularly on the bike, but even the run speed when playing at 4x gamespeed is SO hard to control. I've gotten better!
Mostly what I figured. I honestly forgot how strong Clear Body would be and didn't think Blaine would be quite as much of an issue as he was but over all I got it. T-Tar honestly did a bit better than I expected, I thought Bruno would be harder for him but D-Dance is the out. Still it's typing and lower speed were always going to be hitches and that Sand Storm text is brutal. Dragonite did almost exactly as I expected, albiet I thought there'd be 1 or 2 more wipes to Loralie. And Metagross, with no 4X weakness and just good raw power breaking through even without set up, as I expected. I wonder though, I think Rock Polish is an Egg Move, I wonder if that'd have helped at all? Question for another day. But most of it's problems seemed to come down to luck, Meteor Mash and Rock Tomb aren't fully accurate and it's slow enough that a lot of chances for status to happen, and you could see that build up. Like 3 of the 4 resets in the last run were purely luck.
Very true and in an RNG heavy game you're kind of forced to roll with the punches. I had considered pursuing HP Rock for Metagross but I didn't know if the time investment would help or hurt it's time. Rock Polish didn't exist until Gen 4 unfortunately, but we did get access to Agility. With the EVs I collected though with a few extra levels Speed wasn't Metagross's biggest issue. Poor Tyranitar and his weather text. Cost so much time!
Eggcellent sir, simply eggcellent. ok 1st I see what you mean with the poison point that was rough, not as rough as those fighting moves on Tyranitar though and poor dagonite losing its 1st to Brock and metagross with the fire blasts and flamethrowers. all of them are superb Pokemon and you run each and every one of them very well, but those weaknesses are a lot to get around you're facing them. despite the number of resets on the initial runs (surprised by how few for Tyranitar) I am so surprised by how close they all were. for the second runs, yeah should of kept aerial ace against Koga, that Muk is such a pain, Muk is a special defender so always go physical and weezing is physical defender so always go special. your grinding and training earlier was a wise move, do remember these are all slow growth Pokemon so those extra levels are a must as you found with the initial runs. love the cleaner sweeps you got from the 2nd runs, you really showed off what beasts all of them truly are. I can forgive that reset on dragonite against Lance, AI is hard to predict sometimes, it likes to keep you guessing I am so surprised Metagross won this, but it is the simpler of the 3 and keeping it simple sometimes is better, it had fewer moves to choose from, no boosts and monstrous attack and defense. you played all 3 beautifully and I look forward to seeing Salamence and seeing if it can take the top spot from Metagross, we gotta talk fossils and snakes as well, there is much to talk about
I felt the same way! When I was doing the scripting and editing I take timestamps of all of them as they progress through the game it was so cool to play them, then edit them and watch the runs converge and diverge. Such a blast! Finding those random points to be aware of too with Poison point/random OHKO fighting moves was so great. So many uneggspected things I find even with pseudos. I love approaching the runs with the mentality of "what's possible" then "what's optimal". If I just set up a bunch in the first runs I don't feel I'd be able to push the limits as much with the second runs. I do damage calcs sometimes but not all the time. I prefer to feel things out and learn by experience. Only calcing in those extra tricky spots or when I'm genuinely curious if a crit mattered, or if I would have survived a miss. I honestly wasn't too surprised with the Metagross win. I thought maybe the lack of set up would cost it but it's just too beastly. Thanks, I feel like these runs are making me a better player, which is making the content better! I'm looking forward to more tricky run that require more thought like the snakes, or upcoming fossils. There are so many things to discuss!
@@Eggsceptional to say you lived up to your name and did Eggsceptional is an understatement. its hard to predict when something going to come along to take down a Pokemon like a Pseudo, but as we saw there are moments like, rock type moves always take me by surprise when I have dragonite, but I keep water moves on it instead of ice beam for such occasions. you seemed to do the same and kept aerial ace for the fighting types for Tyranitar. I like that you kept crunch for the 2nd run, Tyranitar is one of very few that make good use of it mostly because it is a special move that mostly physical attackers get. I would of added thunderbolt to it to help deal with water types I am still surprised Metagross won, but in hindsight I can see how it did, most of Fire Red's EV's lean towards attack, defense and speed, which is what Metagross needs the most, psychic is a nice STAB move and its typing is pure defense. I look forward to what you're going to do with Salamance. I have a feeling you'll go Dragon Dance on it as well, but If I may I suggest Hydro pump will serve you well, Salamence is a glass cannon and a mixed attacker, lean into it and go big, it doesn't get ice beam and hydro pump will serve well in its place, also how many Pokemon get flamethrower and hydro pump at once ah yes the fossils, we have much to discuss, why shall we start?
@@jptheflipper3825 It was so cool finding those random wipes throughout the game that caught me completely off guard. Like the random Low Kicks and Revenges from Mankey and Machoke. I couldn't not have Tyranitar using Crunch it feels so thematic to him. If it weren't for all of that weather text I feel like Tyranitar might have won it. I had considered Hydro Pump to get past Brock super early but I was struggling to find a way in the late game to avoid DD. It exists sure but I'm not convinced that it would be faster than using DD strats. Salamence gets the move that Dragonite was sorely lacking - Rock Slide. I couldn't decide how I want to do the fossils though I really want to do most cross generation match ups but having Helix VS Dome just can't go unexplored. It's too hype of a topic in the Poke-communite
@@Eggsceptional I had my money on Tyranitar, I think it could of won if not for the random fighting moves and the weather text as you say, I rarely consider stuff like that for a race, but imagine Tyranitar without it, how many minutes might it safe? I guess to keep it consistent with the others Dragon Dance makes sense. I suggest Hydro pump because how salamence compares to dragonite, its attack it as good, its special attack and speed are slightly better, but its defenses and HP are all lower and it will not take much of a hit, below a certain level Onix might 1 shot with Rock Tomb every time, Hydro Pump might get you around that, rock slide will be a nice addition to its move set, it gets a lot dragonite doesn't but it gets less than dragonite in other areas. as you're running all the fossils, its a straight 5 way race to me, with the exception of Cradilly I can't guess at who the winner of it will be, each has its road blocks and difficulties, grass will be the downfall of Omastar and Kabutops, but not the others, the others might fall to Lorelei's ice types or rock slide or rock tomb from Bruno of all people, there is a lot to consider. the parings kinda have to be a certain way, everyone is going to want to see dome vs helix, aerodactyl is a lone flier and the Bug vs the grass is very much a battle of who falls the the most to Blaine and Charizard. with the exception of Aerodactyl, you'd find the movesets a frustration as well, Omastar needs more special moves and Kabutops needs more physical, Cadilly is decent for a duel STAB but the stats don't help it and Armaldo's typing will leave it weak or neutral to most of the game regardless to moveset, its speed it awful
@@jptheflipper3825 In the second playthrough though I was able to navigate the Fighting moves fairly easily. Tyranitar just suffered so much from the weather text. If only he could've benefitted from the 50% Sp.D buff from Gen 4. I understand your thinking with Hydro, Salamence's stats offensively are better than Dragonite. I do think that the holes I was looking to fill in Dragonite's learnset are filled in Salamence's. Despite it being more limiting overall. I haven't started running the fossils yet but I'm super interested in the Gen 3 ones. I have a lose idea of how I feel Helix/Dome will go (not a winner, just the runs themselves) but I have no idea how Cradily and Armaldo will stack up. Armaldo's speed is only 45? I had to look it up. That's going to be terrible to try and run! At least he's not weak to too much.. except you know.. Water.
Hello there, just found your channel and got to say, its some great stuff. I had 2 questions though. 1. Regarding the egg move choice, do you pick a single that would benefit the run? 2. Besides IVs do you manipulate anything else like EVs or making the 3rd gym puzzle quicker?
Thank you I'm glad you found me :) 1. Yes, I try to choose a single Egg move that will offer the most overall improvement in time for the runs. 2. I only manipulate the IVs. I feel optimizing EVs is a key aspect of routing through the game, and no the trash can puzzle is random every time. I do save cheese it but it's still random.
@Eggsceptional Hello again, I had another question come up after watching another of your videos, you've earned my sub at this point lol. How do you figure out your stats like when you need outspeed a certain mon or have to be at a certain HP threshold to survive?
@@bladert2322 This is a lot of what I aim to discover in the first playthrough. The speed thresholds I've become familiar with: like Round 1 Champion's Alakazam has 159 speed for example. In game I just look at the start menu status screen to see my stats, and the calculations I do in post in a spreadsheet that I built. Or on an online tool that can show you damage ranges in every situation. I intend to introduce live updating elements from GameHook so we can see my stats in real time as I play but that's something that needs to wait until I get a hardware upgrade :)
You could've taught Metagross rock slide in rock tunnel. There's a tutor near one of the entrances. That might've helped a little with the inconsistencies in damage and accuracy
It was pointed out to me that I didn't have Rock Slide in my learnset which is likely why I didn't think Metagross learned it. It would have been sooo much better than Rock Tomb
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't a speed or sp attack boosting nature be great for metagross against everything he struggles with? Psychic from a special metagross HURTS and outspeeding with less grinding might also be faster (if you still one-shot)
That's a good point. I guess I was so in love with Meteor Mashing everything and couldn't think of a stat I was fine with reducing. In hindsight probably could have used Defense, though we did take some heavy Earthquakes near the end there.
@@thebandit6886 Hey in fairness Steel was a typing, along with Dark, that felt like it was made specifically to counter that OP Psychic typing in Gen 1. Who cares how arbitrarily strong it was for many generations :P
FireRed was the game I played most growing up. I played Blue on release then Yellow ad nauseum. I waited for Crystal to come out for Gen 2 and played that until FireRed gave me a run button. That's been my game of choice since, for nearly 20 years :)
@@SCOTLAND_ISGREAT I need a hardware upgrade to break into newer generations but yes, that is in the hopefully not too far future with Gen 4. As far as running newer Generations through FireRed I haven't found a way to do it yet that fits my format. I'm working on it and when I find a way heck yeah. Garchomp, Dragapult. They'd be so fun to run.
Brick break is 75 base power hommy lol. So when super effective its base power would be 150, the same as meteor mash. And you were technically correct anyway, as there is a very small bonus multiplier you get for STAB that makes it more akin to 150.3 💯
Right you are! I really need to start fact checking my scripting more I've had a couple mistakes lately that are either incorrect, or correct in modern Gens, but incorrect in Gen 3. So many little quirks to these games!!
True! Unless it's hitting with the type advantage. It also has the benefit of hitting Ghosts, so Dragonite didn't have to rely on some horrible sub optimal move to chip them down. Though Return is my jam, I felt Aerial Ace had more utility
@@TheMoogleKing93 I guess it would depend on which round league it was. If Round 1 it's to preserve it for Round 2. If Round 2 Return would have been the better choice. With set up Venusaur would fall to Return just as easily. I'm not always perfect I'll be sure to keep this in mind :)
Hopefully I did the pseudos proud in this vid :) Goodra came up lots in the premiere's chat. Tyranitar may not have won the day but I definitely enjoyed him the most!
It was a chess reference! Well.. more AI and supercomputer but definitely chess was a factor in it. Naming things is hard at 4x gamespeed! I like my Rival "U". "I defeated U" is just so satisfying every time!!
It's so hard to pick a time that works in everyone's timezone!! I'll be posting a poll in the not too distant future looking for suggestions to try to and target a time that works best for everyone (or at least as many people as I can).
Yeeeaaahhh I caught that during the premiere. Then went back to my script and it's listed correctly at 1212.5 lbs. Sometimes my mouth/brain connection is a little weak, and then my ear/brain connection misses it too when I'm editing. D'oh! Thanks for the comment :)
@Eggsceptional GREAT! I subscribed and now I know it was the right call. I really love Hitmonchan but him being gimped by the special split not happening till gen 4 makes this run idea a lot more difficult I bet.
@@reicherwallace6774 I'm honestly a little worried about them because I'm concerned that they'll all end up with very similar movesets in the late game. Bulk Up, a Fighting move, and a Rock move. We'll see though, it'll be a lot of fun to maybe work in some Thunderpunch for Gyarados or something :) Please be patient with me though! I want to give every Pokémon a fair shot, so of course that means that it takes more time to cover each one. Thank you :)
@Eggsceptional I'm pretty patient. I imagine the movesets won't be as interesting as the difference in how well they can tackle each challenge due to their stats being so wildly different 🤔 hitmonchan is super bulky against special for some reason. I think in gen 1 his special was high but when the special att/def split happened they decided instead of giving him a higher special atk to make use of his element punches they'd make him basically tank them instead? Weird choice but it ended up paying off more after the moves had their diversity in gen 4. All and all I definitely have been enjoying your content. I let your videos play while I'm working to get me through my shifts lately.
@@reicherwallace6774 That's a fair point! Since fire red is gen 3 metagross doesnt even have those weaknesses to dark and ghost yet as steel still resisted them at this point so it was only weak to ground and fire

@@RandoMattz Thank you! I really enjoy using the egg move. It made Scyther VS Pinsir a viable matchup instead of Scyther getting caught at Brock for 2 hours.
Tyranitar, with the exception of the Fighting weakness, felt the most solid out of the 3 honestly. Maybe I'm just biased because Tyranitar is my fave of the 3 :)
You goofed the weaknesses for Metagross. Ghost and Dark are neutral on it until gen 6 when Steel loses resistance to those 2 as sacrifice for resisting and being super effective against Fairy. So only 2 weaknesses for the metal menace.
You are correct!! I did get that wrong. I was looking at the weaknesses online not accounting for the fact that typing matchups have evolved over the years. I mean... Fire didn't even resist Ice at one point. Thanks for pointing it out :)
Dark, ghost and bug type moves are not super effective against Metagross in generation 3, they're neutral. Fire and ground are its only weaknesses in this generation.
Yes, this was something that I got wrong. I have been more diligent about checking the " * " points for changes between generations when I'm scripting these days. Thanks for keeping me honest :)
True, but in the final times Puff suffered more. It's best moveset to compliment DD that I could come up with was Aerial Ace and Brick Break. Not the most stand out moves for power!

Keep it up!!!
Thanks I appreciate the kind words :) The 3 way video darn near killed me but it was totally worth it! Glad to have you!
Maybe when I eventually break into a later Gen I can try against with T-tar having Unnerve instead.
funny that the one thing that makes Ttar the best pokemon in gen 3 loses him this competition

So close!! And now, just an hour later, over 1000!!
Earned my sub. Great video
Thank you! Glad to have earned it :)
Just found your channel. Really like your content ideas and style. Hope to see more vs videos like these!

Close enough! 🤣
Godzilla dancing to Sandstorm ..... just saying.
Very well made and awesome nicknames. Keep it up!

Your Metagross should have an accompanying party of 8 Pawniard, 2 Bisharp, and a Kingambit
That would be quite the entourage!
Mine first time here, what a way for me to start, subbed :)
Welcome aboard :) glad to have you!!
And Sandstorm does more for Tyranitar than cause a lot of text to show up on screen.
darood deep blue and all these puns!! love this channel lol
Thank you :) I love a good pun
Great video as always, glad to be able to help you as a channel member
Thank you so much for the membership :) It absolutely tickled me pink seeing that little winking egg!!
You defently deserve it! Hopefully you will see more eggs very soon
great nicknames, as always! i particularly enjoy deep blue for metagross, in reference to the chess ai.
Thank you! I sometimes sit and ponder nicknames for so long you'd think that I was naming my first born or something.
The amount of time and effort that must go into these!
I do put a lot of work into these. I'm glad to hear that it shows. Thank you :)
Great vid as always, really looking forward to the Salamence vid (it's my favorite Pseudo)
Someone's probably mentioned it but until Gen 6 Steel resists both Ghost and Dark so Metagross only takes natural damage. something to keep in mind if you ever do gen 4 or 5 solo runs and use Metagross (or Bronzong)
"I have a pseudo legendary video"
Me: "meh, they're okay"
"Next will be the fossil pokemon!"

Admittedly the pseudos have been a ton of fun, but there is a point where stomping through the game with relative ease gets old. I'm excited to move onto the fossils they're so diverse!

Thank you :) One day at a time! Hitting the 1k mark is already such a huge milestone for me. Now I guess it's time to target the next power of 10.
11:54 Rock is neutral to rock and sandstorm I believe boosts rock-types' special defense this gen, effectively canceling out the STAB bonus.
Rock does not resist Rock that's true.. I've been making a note of that a lot in subsequent videos :) The SpD boost from Sandstorm isn't introduced until Gen 4 unfortunately, so it really was just chip damage and extra text all run.
@@Eggsceptional Damn, tyranitar had no right taking super effective special moves like that throughout the run then, lmao
@@UnknownVir It felt a little brutal at times but he is still a pseudo legendary Pokémon after all. It didn't slow him down too too much.
Imagine running these three together as a team. Their combined type coverage would make any Elite Four shake in their boots.
As a player that usually runs as fast as possible I cringe at the thought of that much training. But you're so right.. they would be a force to be reckoned with
Metagross glares intimidatingly.
Tyranitar rampages across the land.
Dragonite says Hiya friend!
Right!?!?!? It's so true!! Aggresive, intimidating design on Sala, Meta, and T-tar, while Dragonite just wants a hug.
Well pretty happy I stumbled upon this ❤
More 3 way VS content coming soon :) Things have evolved a bit since I made this one. Thanks!
Another Eggcredible video
Thank you :)
Can't believe the movement coordination. Dude, you run into every single wall/tree you find lol
I can forgive that reset on dragonite against Lance, AI is hard to predict sometimes, it likes to keep you guessing
I am so surprised Metagross won this, but it is the simpler of the 3 and keeping it simple sometimes is better, it had fewer moves to choose from, no boosts and monstrous attack and defense. you played all 3 beautifully and I look forward to seeing Salamence and seeing if it can take the top spot from Metagross, we gotta talk fossils and snakes as well, there is much to talk about
I felt the same way!
I would of added thunderbolt to it to help deal with water types
I am still surprised Metagross won, but in hindsight I can see how it did, most of Fire Red's EV's lean towards attack, defense and speed, which is what Metagross needs the most, psychic is a nice STAB move and its typing is pure defense. I look forward to what you're going to do with Salamance. I have a feeling you'll go Dragon Dance on it as well, but If I may I suggest Hydro pump will serve you well, Salamence is a glass cannon and a mixed attacker, lean into it and go big, it doesn't get ice beam and hydro pump will serve well in its place, also how many Pokemon get flamethrower and hydro pump at once
ah yes the fossils, we have much to discuss, why shall we start?
Just curious to your reasoning, why not Salamence instead of Dragonite since it's introduced in Gen 3?

Return does more than STAB Aerial Ace. I have shouted this at the screen several times now!
True! Unless it's hitting with the type advantage. It also has the benefit of hitting Ghosts, so Dragonite didn't have to rely on some horrible sub optimal move to chip them down. Though Return is my jam, I felt Aerial Ace had more utility
@@Eggsceptional now explain Dragonite vs Lance where Aerial Ace leaves like all of his pokemon on 5% HP and Return is just there smiling at you.

Good to see someone do elite 4 r2 in this game, most just stop after r1.

Have you done the hitmons yet?
Negative! They're likely the next 3 way race that I'll tackle. Hopefully. I need more time in a day :P
Stats and learnsets do differ enough that there are definitely varied options between them, but I'm worried that the BEST options will all end up being the same. I guess there's only one way to find out :)
I"m glad to hear that my videos have been getting you through the day! More and more I'm realizing that as much as I love playing Pokémon and making videos, I love the impact that I'm having in people's lives so far. Every over-hard day can turn sunny side up :)
Metagross is one of my top 4 favorites from gen 3.
So it's nice seeing it here.
Metagross was an absolute treat to play. I'm looking forward to playing it again in Gen 4 once I've upgraded my hardware :)
Oh have you seen a shiny Metagross?
It's awesome, gold and white colors.
@@valor1omega I just looked it up, very sharp! I'm not up to date on my shiny sprites at all.
Puff is also my go-to Dragonite name, Elliot if it’s shiny.
That's awesome! I've never had a shiny Dragonite. My first thought was Watermelon?
Serious question: How have I never found your channel?
I'm a just a wee baby after all :) I'm still a fairly new channel all things considered. I'm glad you found me!
@@Eggsceptional Well keep doing what you're doing. Your editing is superb, the script is good, and the topic is interesting. The narration is well done and very captivating.
@@prycenewberg3976 Thank you I appreciate you saying that :) I'm making the type of content that I like to watch. I'm so glad that others like it too!
Down with lord helix!
All hail the dark lord!😂
Nice Peter Paul and Mary reference there.
I feel like there are fewer and fewer people in the world that recognize that instantly :)
Since fire red is gen 3 metagross doesnt even have those weaknesses to dark and ghost yet as steel still resisted them at this point so it was only weak to ground and fire
You are correct! This was a lesson for me to check how things have changed between generations, not just trust the first thing I look up. Thanks for keeping me honest :)
All hail Lord Helix!
Your vote has been recorded! Thanks :)
need current moveset on layout
I will eventually be implementing live updating elements to my overlays but as it stands I don't have the coding knowledge, nor can my computer handle it. It's part of my future goals :)
@@Eggsceptional you'll get there, also i like the 1 eggmove rule, it opens up many playstyle options. :)
@@RandoMattz Thank you! I really enjoy using the egg move. It made Scyther VS Pinsir a viable matchup instead of Scyther getting caught at Brock for 2 hours.
I do love me some dome
Fossils.
Fossils. Yes :)
Lord Helix for the win

I would honestly love to see how Tyranitar would have done without sand stream. As you said, I believe it could have possibly won.
Dome all the way!
Your vote has been recorded :)
Would've loved to see this with Salamance instead of metagross
I did a follow-up video with Salamence the following week! If you're interested in seeing Salamence rip through :)
Pro Helix all the way
You got it! It's been recorded
Is it just me or is the footage quiet fast sometimes...kind of hard to follow...
Thanks for letting me know! I'll keep an eye out for over-accelerating things
Metagross is 550*2.2~=1320 lbs but this video is awesome
1212.5 lbs. That's even what I had in the script! My brain-mouth connection was weak that day it seems :)
I seriously still think Puff wins but by a margin, I mean 90 secs is close but Puff also had less resets and at a lower level.
True, but in the final times Puff suffered more. It's best moveset to compliment DD that I could come up with was Aerial Ace and Brick Break. Not the most stand out moves for power!
Where is salamance
I did a follow up video with Salamence the following week! Using the same rules in order to rank it against these 3.
Metagross is missing rock slide as his movepool form move tutor.
D'oh! Thanks for letting me know. I'll be more diligent with checking my work :)
exeggcutest pokétuber
Well shucks :) Thanks!
500kg is not 212lbs 😅 I think you messed up metagrosses weight
I had it written correctly in the script at 1212 lbs, but my brain and mouth weren't entirely connected that day 😅 Thanks for keeping me honest!
not to be that guy but metagross only has TWO weaknesses in gen 3, steel resists dark and ghost in gen 3
Did I not say that? Maybe I was just grabbing information straight off the internet without verifying the Generation. Good correction, thank you :)
If it was head to head (to head)Tyranitar should absolutely win this one
I think it might have without all of that darn weather text!
My boy Salamence tho?
He got a separate video the following week to tie everything off with a nice bow. Probably?
@Eggsceptional Commented before that was brought up in the video. Sure coulda edited but I viewed the video while at work thus no edit.
@@professionalproductions4156 No worries! It happens all the time :)
How dare you hate on the Dragonite sprite
I'm sorry!! Just look at the other pseudos. Very aggresive, powerful, intimidating sprites. Then there's Dragonite. He wants a hug :)
Metagross doesn't get Hone Claws until Gen V darn it
If I had a nickel for every time I wanted something that existed in newer generation I'd have like.. at least $3.00
