FINALLY a review of these! I found them when looking for headphones with wood about 6 months ago but this is the first actual thorough review in english I have found! Thank you for keeping uncommon products on your radar. Some time ago I bought the Denon D5200 and seeing them here makes me happy, I bought several after this, even more expensive, but I always come back to the 5200
I am glad to see a comprehensive review of lesser known but equally competent gear that is seemingly ignored or unknown to others. If you want another option to review in the future, I suggest the AKG N5005. There are only a few reviews of it on UA-cam; One is in Spanish and the other two were made shortly after its release about three years ago. I have no idea what their preferences are or how well it stacks up in direct comparison to other options. Perhaps more importantly, they all seem to be in the context of the original price of $1000. AKG has been selling them on and off for $300, and they seem to regularly sell for $400 or $500 elsewhere. It would be nice to get a better review with more direct comparisons with this now price in mind. If you do review it, I suggest changing the filters if you don't like the sound. It fixed most of my problems with it.
Yeah, I know. I kept delaying the purchase, almost for a year, before I finally pulled the trigger last year. I have the SW2 as well, though that is definitely discontinued.
I loved JVC. I own HA-FD01 and FW07 and HA-FX90T. I tried HD6xx it was boring. Victor/JVC is unique in term of sound signature. Their IEMs are popular in their home country, the reviewer may not be aware of that. Im curious in this woodie and will save $$ to buy it when possible.
I always like to learn about products where there are almost no videos about them. I discovered a Bluetooth neckband which has absolutely no coverage even though it has planar drivers, active noise cancellation, LDAC.... It's a really interesting product, but I don't have the critical listening skills to give it any kind of serious analysis. It's always a little frustrating when you can't find any content about a product, but on the other hand, it's kind of cool finding stuff no one else has and being able to judge it without preconceptions. If you're interested in reviewing it, I could probably donate my second pair.

Hope you can review the Hifiman Susvara or the Abyss Ab1266 Phi TC someday... or for IEMs, maybe the 64Audio u12T, Sony IER Z1R, Unique Melody MEST, or the Oriolus Traillii

Hi, can u tell qudelix 5k audio output quality is comparable to which dongle or portable dac? Like s9 pro, tempo tec Sonata e44, ibasso DC05 or Fiio ka3 etc...
Sound quality? They're all transparent and have THD/SNR well below what anyone can hear. I'd be surprised if anyone could tell a difference in a true A/B test.
Yeah, I have it and planned on reviewing it last year. I was hoping to go backwards in the Blue headphone lineup, from their top level to their most affordable. Still waiting to find a Mix-Fi on discount.

Between this JVC (harder to find, more expensive), the cheap JVC HARX900 you recommended (still $68), and the cheap Sony with the great sound ($58 now on Ebay), which do you personally prefer at this point in time. I may try them all out and the Blue's especially since they are still on sale, but wondered what direction to go next. I've been through the Philips stable already lol.
@@Chiefbrody22 They're all good headphones, but with their own little quirks. The Sony I like for its placement and soundstage, but it is very uncomfortable without mods. The 900 is a comfortable headphone, but is pretty big and bulky. So, it really comes down to how I'm feeling at the moment. If I had to choose, I'd pick the Sony.
I asked Monoprice about what's the difference between m1070c and m1570c headphones sound and they responded: The M1570C has a more refined driver and balanced XLR connection. I wonder what "more refined" driver actually means..
Ha. That's what they said about the open-back versions. I have no idea if Hobie is still working at Monolith. But, clearly, the closed-back headphones are 2 years too late and very badly marketed--as in, no marketing. Such an odd thing for Monoprice to do.
I thought about getting the closed-backs, but I'm not altogether eager to spend money as I've no idea what Monolith has actually done. I'm concerned they just slapped the earcups closed and called it a day. I emailed Hobie a few months ago about reviewing these, and didn't get a response. As for Ultrasone...funny you should mention that. Just yesterday I was looking at my boxed headphones and decided to pick up an Ultrasone.
Great informative review. Not a lot of information about these headphones on the internet. How much impact does the kickdrum and bass have? I went through your playlist, but none of the songs had that bass impact I was looking for. An example: Sickmode & Rooler & Sefa & Levenkhan - NO ONE IS LIKE US: ua-cam.com/video/-iw7_5AjbPQ/v-deo.html I use hifiman HE1000V2 for other genres, so I do understand what you mean about clarity, detail, soundstage. However, I'm looking for headphones specifically for this high intensity music that's well produced and mastered. Hope to hear your impressions. These headphones look amazing.

Headphones under 500 with warm sound signature? Easy. Sony MDR 1AM2. The wearing comfort of that pair is unmatched imo
