If you people look at the first crisis of succussion with Aeny's first child who was female. She was line for to be Queen. She was pushed out and the Queen that was Never was, Dana the Decinct aka Daemon Blackfyre's mother. They never put female on Throne.
That's because Andal tradition dictates that a woman cannot be Queen. Prior to the Targaryens six of the seven kingdoms practiced this rule Dorne being the only exception. That's exactly what caused this war in the first place, because Viserys thought the realm would simply roll over and accept his decree. He was wrong
@@truetory6231 nope, Andal tradition dictates that daughter (when there are no sons) comes before uncle. Viserys was not skirting Andal traditions at the moment he named Rhaenyra heir. And even this tradition is not enshrined in law, and was not universally practiced (Dorne, while having great Rhoynish influence, was Andal first and observed the Faith of the Seven). Ultimately, the whole war comes down to grabbing as much power as possible - "chaos is a ladder". Had the Greens supported Rhaenyra, in some less toxic family dynamics scenario, the realm would complai, and then shut up the moment the dragons showed up. 🤷🏻♀️
@@truetory6231and yet more than half the realm supports his daughter over his son so it seem half the realm doesn’t even care about their own traditions. Only when it suits them.
@Blerdly Alicent is a good woman but....GULLIBLE and hypocrite (Moon tea with the servant girl and not suppose to have with any man until marriage especially with Cole). Ummm....when Viserys was sick, I was told she was the QUEEN in POWER and have experience but.......Aemond, now an option, and sexism prevents her taking charge again!
She used sexism to promote Aegon's position as heir and king over Rhaenyra simply on the basis that he was male and she was a woman now it has been turned against her and preventing her from taking control just like Rhaenyra l call that ironic justice or as some would also call it sweet irony
Good to who 😅😂...Like to who...to her kids 😅😂 to her grandkids 😂😅 To The realm 😅😂 To her one and Only friend 😅😂 To herself 😅😂 Alicent at good for nothing and to no one...Except coles 🍆
@Lightingwarrior Ironic justice seems to be a constant with Hightower schemers. Otto himself used his family as pawns in a game to place Aegon on the throne, *only for said family member and "would be pawn" to undo everything he'd worked in a single act. As well as firing him as Hand of the King with zero likelyhood of hiring him back.* In the end, Otto even started missing Vyseris! 😂 Partly because he could manipulate him better, but also because he NOW admires the wisdom and temperance of the previous King. Qualities he took for granted before, and he now misses dearly.
@@MrDibara In regards to Otto he is a perfect example of the old saying "Be careful of what you wish for....." For years he dreamed and schemed of making his grandson King with him at his side "guiding" him on what to do, thus making him the true ruler of the Westeros and ensuring his lineage as kings and queens of the realm. And now that he got what he has wanted he now realises just how bad an idea it was in making Aegon king, especially since he never tried to teach him how to rule and ignored his bad habits.
Great analysis 😂😂😂. But I think that was the only time that his owner hurt him (that dog) because he never flinched or saw it coming. He lashed out at him because he was about to get killed. Which makes it sadder last thing his owner ever did was kick him so he thought he had did something wrong 😭 he probably thinks he’s the reason he’s dead
This is where she realized that Otto was the one whonworked with everybkdy on the council, even after he was fored the first time. While Alicent at most worked with Cole and Larys and got her chair due to nepotisim.
Pitiful? Surprised? Ego? Humbled????? Guys! She wasnt thristy for the throne, she was panicked and petrified of Aemond ruling. So many people are reading it as her being upset she cant rule and pouring. Thats not pouting thats fear! Hence the hyperventilating
Her secret thirst for power was unveiled in season 1 in her convo with Rhaenys. "A window into power" and the walls were closing in and that window closed. It's a combination of all her machinations and her terrible parenting leading the Realm to this point. There is no going back. And the pick me, didn't get picked even by the fools she sexually satisfied.
Whats with "women cant rule, but can guide men" she said to Rhaenys? Why diesnt she just guide aemond? Because both he and aegon are horrible people , dangers to kingdom and she knows that. And still went against Rhaenyra.
Actually it is true , it would have been strange , if they accept Alicent, since they turned against Rhaeneyra because she is a woman. Why would they accept then an other woman, who is not even an official heir like Rhaeneyra?
Will the Regent name a Hand of the Regent or does Aemond get free rein? IMHO, The dance of the dragons is about Aemond setting himself up to battle Daemon for power. Aemond knows Daemon will take out Rhaenyra so he won’t have to.
This season's writing is dogshit alicent never sat on council in books except she only advocated for aegon's throne. Rhaenyra basically let jace and corlys take over war strategy plans for her.
It's been very obvious to me since season 1 and stupidly obvious to anyone since the start of this season -- this show overly emphasizes the problems of patriarchy to a caricaturized level. Yeah, sexism is bad and patriarchy exists even in today's world is real. It should obviously worse in this fictional "middle ages culture" esque fantasy world, where the rules that disenfranchise women are more formalized and it oozes in the culture. HOWEVER that also means most people who lived in that time (in the real world) implicitly understood the rules and norms of the culture, and wouldn't so stupidly try, or even be allowed to buck the trend. That's human behavior and sociology, and this show pretends like the world has these rules and beliefs, but the characters within that very world, who know nothing but the world, who supposedly by default believe in those rules do not seem to notice their violation? Or so easily accept or allow the reversal? The overall doubts of Rhaenyra despite her being named made sense. However, that her supposedly capable and pretty wise and mature father didn't understand that peace is threatened when his heir is not only questioned, but is a woman and he doesn't think "maybe I should do more to quash this" was overlooked. That Alicent supposedly wanted peace, but wasn't really responsible for scheme to overthrow the throne (that evil was done by men, on her part just an honest mistake) is so dumb. So so dumb. It's one of those last words, that even if true, you have to understand why NO ONE ELSE would believe you and really own up to and think about what the follow through implications are. Most people in that position would NOT want to continue the struggle beyond that unless they themselves really were trying to gain something -- their own vanity and rise to power. The first flaw we missed is Alicent even being on/in the small council at the end of season 1 while Viserys was sick and later died. This was massively out of place for the world and was overlooked by most of the fanbase because modern day (shallow feminist) thinking suggests "oh, well, the king was her husband so of course she should be a part of communicating what his desires are for the kingdom." Nope nope nope, sorry the Hand of the King would have directly spoken to the king and taken care of business without the queen's consultation. The queen does NOT hold the second most power in that situation just because she's married to the king; and being the daugher of the hang doesn't upgrade her position at all. Take a look at the first time Cersei tried to show up to a small council meeting to exert any influence (early season 6 I think after her walk of shame?) -- she was met with clear resistance from her uncle Kevan Lannister, and not even necessarily because she was a woman, but because the dowager queen (mother of the king) doesn't hold any position of power. Notice in the lines that Jamie could justify him being there despite not participating earlier, as the head of the Kingsguard. The point the show is trying to make is that even in a world or times like that, where women formally do not have any power, they can and have influenced things throughout history. Politics is a very social and power based game, so women very much can play the game, and have certainly always. They can "run things" without official titles, sometimes through men, or sometimes because they do end up in a position with a title that works out in a situation. That's GREAT, but all of this is lost when the message is being carried by such a vapid plot/world where all of the men are stupidly incompetent. The effort to show us how messed up this world is, in a supposedly realistic character-based and world building show, falls flat when those things are inconsistent.
It was hilarious to see her try to put herself forward without any thought of why they are in the war with Rhaynera in the first place lol

Alicent is a fool she had the chance to kill Rhaeynra twice and she fumbled why would they want her to be the ruler
No way for them to know that
Alicent isn't a Killer
its not that...she is woman overall...thats the whole point why the greens fight this war... Alicent is such an idiot, I dont know what the F did she think was going to happen... she was done her job, pushed out some male children and now she is being disregarded...nobody has use for her anymore
They didn’t even know she had the chance. They simply didn’t want her to rule them
I hate I think the same about Rhaenys because she was one of, if not the greatest Targaryen dragon ladies ever, but she could have eviscerated the Hightowers with “the beast under the floorboards.”
YOU SAID IT ALL PERFECTLY.... LMAO NOW I WATN A SHIRT WITH ALICENT ON IT THAT SAYS RAGGADY AHH BIH LMAO
The council rejected rhaenys and rhaenyra, the daughter of kings, blood of valeria, who does she think she is? . Who are you?
She chose the Greens who don’t approve of females ruling, then acts all butt hurt when they rej3ct her as a ruler. Mmmkay Alicent.
The Dance of Dragons is a Targaryen Civil War between Rhaenyra and Her Brother Aegon.
but with this tv show.
the fans on social media made the Dance looks like a conflict between Rhaenyra and Alicent !
if you read the books you'll know that Alicent was never a player in the Dance. The Show gave her too much Importance.
It is literally between her and rhaenyra lol
@@siewmj1 Alicent role in the of Dragon is Over.
and the dance has barely started.
Trust me you'll even forgot about her.
@@siewmj1 It's called Dance of the DRAGONS. Does Alicent look like a dragon to you, lol. The war was always between Nyra and Aegon, brother and sister, Targaryen vs Targaryen, Queen vs King.
Well she was leading green council in book, because she was ambitious trough her son. Is show, she was once friend with Rhaenyra but "otto fault" and misunderstanding Viserys plots... we are meant to feel sad for alicentr here. I really dont.
Biggest "oops" moment in TV history , and ive been an HBO , starz, showtime, veteran since the 1990s . Absolutely hilarious , this show is darn good . Alicent and criston cole do a better job than joffrey at being hated . Joffrey was sadistic , these two are just downright cold blooded snakes. Scorned people with no feelings . Great stuff.
Joffrey to Alicent and Criston Cole: Yeah, I've done some horrible things and people hate me, but you two are the WORST!!!
I love watching bad things happen to Alicent, I hate her 💀
Now all I can think of is (in the words of the great Kendrick Lamar)
Be Humble…Sit Down
Fix your face Alicent.
She only had power was because of her husband he gave her power like he did for his daughter, now she realizes shes fucked lol
@@dillonmartin7411oaths mean nothing unless a northmen is making it 😂
@Blerdly Alicent is a good woman but....GULLIBLE and hypocrite (Moon tea with the servant girl and not suppose to have with any man until marriage especially with Cole).
As well as firing him as Hand of the King with zero likelyhood of hiring him back.*
In the end, Otto even started missing Vyseris! 😂 Partly because he could manipulate him better, but also because he NOW admires the wisdom and temperance of the previous King. Qualities he took for granted before, and he now misses dearly.
@@MrDibara In regards to Otto he is a perfect example of the old saying "Be careful of what you wish for....."
For years he dreamed and schemed of making his grandson King with him at his side "guiding" him on what to do, thus making him the true ruler of the Westeros and ensuring his lineage as kings and queens of the realm. And now that he got what he has wanted he now realises just how bad an idea it was in making Aegon king, especially since he never tried to teach him how to rule and ignored his bad habits.
@@Lightingwarrior TRUE
Great analysis 😂😂😂. But I think that was the only time that his owner hurt him (that dog) because he never flinched or saw it coming. He lashed out at him because he was about to get killed. Which makes it sadder last thing his owner ever did was kick him so he thought he had did something wrong 😭 he probably thinks he’s the reason he’s dead
now I’m starting to understand why they only married within the family.
@@TTAmber And she just realized all of the plotting she and her father had done just unraveled.
I hate Alicent, but damn. Aemond is dangerous. Ahe fot a taste of that misogyny real quick. Lmao also the dog comment. 😂 Facts.
I was like karma…..
Actually it is true , it would have been strange , if they accept Alicent, since they turned against Rhaeneyra because she is a woman. Why would they accept then an other woman, who is not even an official heir like Rhaeneyra?
'The scriptures of the Faith might rule lesser men, but not the blood of the dragon.'
That sum up alicent and rhaenyra
Alicent trought if she was dutifull enought (and what she did with larys and cole) men will eventualyy respect her.
She's not as bright as she thinks she is. She has always been nothing more than a puppet. She's the only one who was unable to c that, though.
The same thing her eldest son faced. When you can't strategize effective plans and/or have been outside the lines and fought your useless.
Will the Regent name a Hand of the Regent or does Aemond get free rein?
IMHO, The dance of the dragons is about Aemond setting himself up to battle Daemon for power. Aemond knows Daemon will take out Rhaenyra so he won’t have to.
😂 I enjoyed watching alicent get sidelined for being a woman also
The snake that bites Peter will also bite Paul as well. Alicent had experienced the pain Rhaenyra went through and not because of power struggle.
i dearly miss Alicent pre ep 9 in season 1 , the writing after that makes her so dumb it's nauseating
Pretty much what I feel with Daemon as well. They had great characters in S1 now it’s just a mix
Alicent was dumb in first season as well. Oh Rhaenyra lied about not having sex, we must be enemies
IKR. I hope Condal and Hess aren't allowed anywhere near season 3.
Where do you get your background music?
I thought she was gonna be the power behind the throne like how she was in the books but she really tried to be official regent 😅
Ta gueule Alicent ! 🎉
This episode!! lmao
absolutely briliant!
😂😂😂
Wait is Aegon death????
Nope but larys strong, corlys etc will poison Aegon
Karma.
underwhelming nonsense. What is rr martin doing ? why is he not in control of who writes this show ???
❤Tell it!🎉
Someone should really sharpen up on their vocabulary.
