The Guard got nerfed hard with the "once per game" reinforcement change. We were barely holding the line as it was. The points drops are nice but our infantry core is going to suffer.
The changes per se are mostly good. But it’s getting very difficult for my son (and myself!) to introduce new players to the game. The core rules aren’t as stated in the rule book anymore. And it’s not even enough to get the app as a one stop shop as factions are locked.
The return of the Robots is welcome. I don't play Ad Mech, but I do approve of rule of cool. Same as the Dunecrawlers, always a cool model. The good side of 40k silliness, a spider tank. Neat.
I'm just waiting on the Blood Angels refresh. I'm not seeing any changes with them at present, so it might be a sign. Also, I'm getting more into Heresy Era gaming, too.
Look, 10th wasn't ready. Even if we take the current update as the final core rules change, that means it still needed another year of work before release. That's a full year where CSM, Votann, Guard, and World Eaters could have enjoyed their codices. But I think they needed to wait even longer. If the plan was to make the books compatible with the new character and weapon layouts, then why rush? We had such wildly swingy temporary rules at the start that the only way for GW to maintain any semblance of balance has been to nerf everything into the ground. The results of this has been a very dreary and bland game, and several armies receiving horrendous books so that the don't crush the armies that haven't had theirs. My suggestion is to take the best of each edition. Keep the current core rules and profiles. They work really well! Same with the keyword system. But add in 8th and 9th's depth, minus the psychic phase. Keep their method of army building and some of their mechanics, such as auras. And then put back in the 3rd and 4th edition way for making codices! Make the points visible on the profile. It's easier than ever to tally an army, especially with listbuilding websites. Give characters armouries! Let them be personal to _you._ Every Space Marine chapter has become "Ultramarines" plus a character. Every Chaos army is Black Legion now because none of the others get special lists. 10th is even more sterile than OPR right now, and _that's saying something._ And that's not even considering that most GW shops don't let you stay and paint or even *_play_* in the stores any more. They want to make the game open to everybody, yet made it as difficult as possible to get people to play. And even when they do, there's no flavour to enjoy what's left.
Gw is a clown show. They've upped the pts on meta models, for example aeldari - swooping hawks, and warp spiders. They only change things when it's time to make some money...Glad I decided not to play, after seeing the first couple codex releases. Combat patrol has been really fun, and doesn't really change, besides how many models come in the new boxes, and the fact they're no longer adding vehicles to the new ones, so less models for more money...
Im a bit at a loss about the "once per battle" limitation to replace-a-destroyed-unit strats; that seems like a huge nerf to genestealer cults at a time when they're not terribly dominant(judging from the last win-loss stats I saw, at least)
A lot of the core rules changes seemed more like cleaning up the language than actual updates (I found myself being like "Wait... it didn't already work that way??"). Admech changes look good.
Speaking of giving models something they should have had all along, when is the Skorpius Dunerider going to get the Assault Ramp ability? It's a frickin' landing craft. The entire front of it is an assault ramp! I'm glad to see the other changes, but I don't understand why they didn't make this simple and obvious fix.
So many changes for an edition that's only a year old. And now they've changed something as fundamental to the game as movement. Might finally to time to jump to Horus Heresy and enjoy the peace of one FAQ every 12 months
Can c with sn battle reports have made the change to horus heresy, they must think we play 4 times a week or mote,if I'm lucky I'll get one a week but that's luck, as soon as I'm getting used to it bam time to change some rules,of systems I've played its below h/h and mesbg for sure
does anyone know how to bring up the editions we paid for on our apps? I can't seem to bring up my ninth edition codex in the app it's locked me out of the tenth and I just wanna see the old stuff i spent money on without dragging out my book
Codex space marines? or chaos space marines? as for me they hate both factions, but you know what? it gives me strenght not to buy their shitty products.
The amount of balance patches etc etc I'd need to have/read at this point has firmly put me off 40k....again....it just seems like its intentionally not for a filthy casual like me
Kinda curious behind the exocrine buff what does it do? When is being str 8 actually worse than being str 9? Is there anything in game that lowers shooting strength, which this now protects against?
When the Space Marine codex for 10th edition dropped my Onegar Dunecrawler with neutron laser started the game and ended the game with rolls of 6's and back into 6's when required to reroll. Gladius tank gone, Brutis dreadnaught gone. Victory! Admech is the best army.
Thanks for the video! Just adding timestamps for low attention span viewers like me

"Auspex tactics is gonna have a field day with this one" 😅😅😅
At least 30 videos will be out by day's end.
@@seanalonzo9244 or one freakishly long one lol

wait till u see the 1-3 is always miss for indirect...
It’s nice that the app is already updated.

Really looking forward to 11th edition so I can stay in 10th and actually start playing a complete game 🥸
Was not expecting to hear 'poggers' lmao. Very informative quick video thanks
What is this slang, ❤it
They could probably stop nerfing the Codex with sub 40% win rates. That would be a great start to fixing the game.
I'm just waiting on the Blood Angels refresh. I'm not seeing any changes with them at present, so it might be a sign. Also, I'm getting more into Heresy Era gaming, too.

Every time I think I'm ready to start playing with my kids, the goalposts change and back to building terrain and painting more models I go LOL
One Page Rules, my dude. I play with my 7 yo kid and he loves it. Get those figures out and start rolling dice!
Horus Heresy mate

The tank shock Change is a nerf to knights at least. No more 20 dice tank shocks from them.
My dorn going down in points makes me happy
GW molested us Guard players though overall...
Meganobs are broken bad now, at 40points move5 and no offence thay are trash

Meanwhile Epic hasn't had a balence update in a decade, and its rules are still really good...
11:28 T'au, AKA _'the Good Guys'_
Started trying to read it, my head now hurts. Thanks for the summary :)
Heresy does need a lot of adjustments though.

It's cathartic to check in with 10th news, see it's still an absolute trash fire, and go back to playing WHFB 6th. :D

Hell, I want the rules to stay the same between editions, let alone within editions.....F' it, I'm sticking with 8th anyway
does anyone know how to bring up the editions we paid for on our apps? I can't seem to bring up my ninth edition codex in the app it's locked me out of the tenth and I just wanna see the old stuff i spent money on without dragging out my book
So no rules for KX139 Ta'unar Supremacy Armour? ;-)
Official. Tau is the best. Winters said so
Don't forget the hive tyrant giving a nice 15" bubble of lethals as well as assault.
I hope to see some Penitent Forge soon on the channel now that they are playable!
...whens the next update. This one is ummm. No
Joe is very happy with the Tyranid updates 😂
GW doesn't want people to play CSM. Every dataslate every CSM player just dreads it at this point.
Codex space marines? or chaos space marines? as for me they hate both factions, but you know what? it gives me strenght not to buy their shitty products.
NIDS ARE PLAYABLE!
I quit at 4th edition
I need Auspex - the volume of changes made my head hurt
Nice summary of the changes. Nice name drops for Auspex Tactics and Tabletop Tactics...lol
The amount of balance patches etc etc I'd need to have/read at this point has firmly put me off 40k....again....it just seems like its intentionally not for a filthy casual like me
Based KCD player
To be fair, you only need the app and the latest commentary, which is in the app as well.
Whilst I've enjoyed aspects of 10th ed, I am still mostly playing 8th Ed for full wholesome happiness!
PIVOT!
You _can_ still shoot and throw grenades - you just need to throw them first, as before. The difference is advancing and falling back.
Make the units fit the lore and then adjust points to balance. Changing rules seems a bit of a pain!
Great little video, so much better than the 4 hours of Auspex that I usually wade through
In case you need to learn how to measure in a straight line! 😂😂😂😂
Love your work winters!
Does pivot affect units with fly?
Nids be crazy!
Kinda curious behind the exocrine buff what does it do? When is being str 8 actually worse than being str 9? Is there anything in game that lowers shooting strength, which this now protects against?
They'll be wounding a few things on 4s now instead of 5s, so pretty happy 🙃
weird question. Extremely cheap tanks like chimeras and rhinos are t9. Wounding them on 5s with a big gun was abysmal
I feel awful for those buying the books. Zero respect for solid rules from the get go. Just rushing out paper and chaotic mess rules
Blood angels got nothing. Hopefully that means codex soon
Could be because they got their detachment buff last time round as well maybe?
"... and if you are annoyed that rules are changing there is ONE PAGE RULES..."
OPR is more bland than 10th edition. No idea why anyone would play it.
When the Space Marine codex for 10th edition dropped my Onegar Dunecrawler with neutron laser started the game and ended the game with rolls of 6's and back into 6's when required to reroll. Gladius tank gone, Brutis dreadnaught gone. Victory! Admech is the best army.
I just did quit hobby due to codex space marines, fuck that game, fuck this hobby.
