The attitude of scoring over winning is such a good approach. I lost one of my best games 84-100. That was my highest scoring game so far. I can't be mad about that. I'm quite happy with that outcome (especially since it was against a very experienced opponent).
You guys are bringing things to the community that is rare because a lot of people just push meta. This channel is a great balance of competition and fun. These are toy soldiers after all. When I started In 2007 there was nothing like this at all to help set up lists or how to build an army at all. So im super happy you do this for others.
Was watching this while painting last night and honestly sometimes a little bit of advice really resonates. When Stephen said don't get hung up on win rates, focus on scoring VP and improving on your previous VP scores, that's just perfect. Along with always trying to be a great opponent, that piece of advice is going to be my aim for gaming this year, whether 40k, AoS, LI or Shatterpoint etc. Thank you
Thanks very much for all the content guys. I recently got the Start Playing Course and have been really enjoying the process. The team chemistry, production value, and good sportsmanship coming from all of you at VT is really inspiring!
Thanks for this video! I have been collecting space wolves years ago, but I finally decided to assemble and paint them. I was wondering how to make a good list and watched your video. It has been very helpful . I was thinking about making the champions of Russ detachment have all the sagas work, but after watching this video I think I only have to focus on the one that makes me score better and maybe some other that makes me kill stuff better. I have found that each of the enhancements is there to help you out with each of the sagas. Now I have a better idea about how to make a list that works (I was worried about that) Thank you again!
Really enjoyable video thank you gents. Liked hearing more about the theory of balance of units within a list, rather than just aaying units that should be taken. Means even those looking at more casual games not meta chasing can still build more robust armies to complement their favourite units. Thanks VT ❤
Thanks for this video really helpful. Random question assassination scoring on resurrecting characters. If a model stands back up then they aren't counted as assassinated from the view of scoring. So that correct?
Assasination Mission reads as “Note that if you are using Tactical Missions, this Secondary Mission is achieved even if such a unit was destroyed and then subsequently resurrected for any reason.”
Question. Each custodes captain has the same once per game ability for their unit. If you have 3, do you get to use this ability 3 times or does each ability only get one use per game regardless of how many units have said ability?
If you are only referring to the regular shield-captain and taking 3 of that same model in an army, the shield captain has to different abilities. The first one which maybe the one you are asking about allows a shield captain's unit to activate an additional stance in the fight phase with the once per game ability to activate all stances for that shield captain's unit. The way that second part of the ability is written is key since it is only that one shield captain's unit. If you have three shield captains and each one is leading a unit, each shield captain can use this ability to activate all stances during the fight phase once per game either all three during the same fight phase or during three different fight phases. The shield captain's second ability allows the shield captain to use a battle tactic stratagem for free even if that stratagem was used but can only be used once per battle round by only one model with the ability. All three variants of shield captain have this ability so only one can use it per battle round if the army contains one of each type of shield captain or the maximum copies of one type or a variety.
7:15 Love the content and thanks for the channel. I'm just saying this to help, not to mock - It sounds like you're saying 'Non-negotioNables' / Non-ne-go-tia-na-bles'. I think the N letter / syllable needs to be removed, to pronounce it 'Non-negotiables' = Non-ne-go-tia-bles. Let me know if I'm wrong or right on this, but I hope this helps either way. Thanks again.
Very helpful! I normally don't nitpick but I'm pretty sure that "non-negotionable" was said 15+ times. It would be a good drinking game to get through this every time that extra N was added. 😀

Toy soldiers don't cost 2 months of salary (not counting paint, glue , painting time etc).

Valuable strategy advice. Especially for me as I am starting WH40K with Black Tenplars.
Good points! This has really structured how I will think about my future lists, and for my list for my first GT this month. I appreciate the video!

I liked the video. It was very very useful and made me rethink my amount of Secondary shenanigans.

This video is worth a sub for real.
Great breakdown chaps!
Great stuff! Loving all the content - going through the SM course, but also sampling some of the other videos.
Great content. Thx gents.

Really useful video. Thanks
Cool video, but is it just me that is noticing the typo in "negotiable" throughout the video?
Drove me crazy, it’s only got one N in it. Negotiable.

What is a good beginner list outline? I’m new and my first game is in a few weeks. Thank you!
Violence is fun, but points win.
I don’t understand what they mean by “shooting” being different than “combat”. Im a noob. Whats the difference.
I'd say combat is melee combat

What is on Jakes nose??
First things first... you are gonna need about $1000

Some great content but for the love of all things! warhammer can someone tell Steve there is no forth n in non negotiable. It’s driving me nuts!!!
Well its nice guide fir casual play cause if you are dead turn 2 from some salamanders with endless flames it's not fair
"Non-negotionable"
Really hurting my ears each time he pronounces non-negotiables wrong!
Yep triggered me too.
Yeah, how dare someone with dyslexia say things wrong……..
Didnt notice.. was focused on the content. Next time try that.. you might learn a thing or two.
It is silly I agree
It’s not dyslexia… that’s reading things backwards….. it’s called a speech impediment guy.
the amount of ad is crazy. every 3-5min
This was incredibly dry.
