This is it. This is the episode that everyone anxiously awaits all reactors to reach. Even more than 1x9. When the violins start playing at the end, you aren't a sweet summer child anymore.
That and the end of Season 6. From there, Seasons 7 and 8 are total garbage. George R.R. Martin never finished the books, so the writers just made stuff up.
This is the episode that kickstarted the whole reaction video phenomenon on UA-cam back in 2013. People who had read the books recorded friends and family who had not read them.
The Bolton’s and The Frey’s girl. AND Tywin Lannister. You’re right, he enlisted The Frey’s and Bolton’s to end the war. Still traumatizes me when I watch The Red Wedding. Payback is a must!
This is where it cemented to me that NO ONE is really safe. Ned's death shocked me, but then i told myself "oh, so this is a tale of a son avenging his father" with Robb getting build up as a king. Then the RED WEDDING happened. There's no protagonists here, not the Starks, we all see even the perspectives/reasoning of the "bad guys" and all the faults/flaws of the "good guys" Back then, this was also the deciding point where i finally started reading the books.
I refuse to believe that Jamie wanted Robb k*lled. I think he honestly wanted to send his regards for the wedding. Especially not after that character growth in the bath scene with Brienne
@@markcruz359 Jaime had no idea about the red wedding. He was just sending a greeting. Although he might have thought it was peculiar that Roose was letting him go.
@@darth856 he did think it was odd. He knew something was up but not that entirely. In the books it's Jaime Lannister sends his regards. Also, Robb's last word is Greywind, not mother. It;s assumed Robb wargs his wolf amd Greywind goes absolutely mad becasue he wasnt caged.
Sice you asked about her last thoughts, here they are from the book: "“It hurts so much,” she thought. “Our children, Ned, all our sweet babes. Rickon, Bran, Arya, Sansa, Robb…Robb…please, Ned, please, make it stop, make it stop hurting.” The white tears and the red ones ran together until her face was torn and tattered, the face that Ned had loved. Catelyn Stark raised her hands and watched the blood run down her long fingers, over her wrists, beneath the sleeves of her gown. Slow red worms crawled along her arms and under her clothes. “It tickles.” That made her laugh until she screamed. ‘‘Mad,’’ someone said, ‘‘she’s lost her wits,’’ and someone else said, ‘‘Make an end,’’ and a hand grabbed her scalp just as she’d done with Jinglebell, and she thought, “No, don’t, don’t cut my hair, Ned loves my hair.” Then the steel was at her throat, and its bite was red and cold." -A Storm of Swords, Chapter 51-
You were so mad you were making Tagalog sound like French cursing xD The lyrics of the song they started playing makes her reaction make sense. Even if you don't know the historical reference to Tywin Lannister that it contains: "And now the rains weep 'oer his halls, with no-one there to hear."
5:02 Remember what he said he wanted to be when older while speaking to Jon in Castle Black? Tbh that was the most logical reaction I've seen so far to this episode. Congrats, you're not a sweet summer child anymore.
Actually, there's a reason why we stopped seeing Ilyn Payne. The actor that played him, Wilko Johnson, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2013. He refused to take chemotherapy and was forced to quit the show. Johnson sadly passed in 2022 at the age of 75.
Oathbreakers are about as low as you can be amongst the nobility in this world. Rob Stark broke his oath involving a Huge promise to Walder Frey. The Lannisters saw the opportunity to present both the Freys and the Boltons a better deal. As Karstark told him "You lost this war the moment you married her"
Bolton isn't sick in the head (well, Ramsay is). He's opportunistic. I don't remember who said it but in an earlier episode it was said that Rob lost this war as soon as he took that woman as his bride, when he went back on his word and betrayed his oath. Bolton knew this too and switched sides instead of fighting on what he saw as the losing side. Strategically, it made total sense.
I love that you were nervous about Robbs marriage for love the whole time, so when this episode happens you're so angry. Most reactors are sad and crying, and you're so mad. All the houses are always playing the game of power.
I've admittedly been both anxious and excited to see you watch this episode. random note. i think the actor who played Ilyn Payne had died by this point in production so he was quietly written out. They'll mention him again but you won't see him.

You took this series surprisingly adequately. Many Stark fans were furious with the authors of the books and series, not realizing that the Starks themselves were to blame for what happened. By the way, Catelyn put the most effort into this. She had both Lannister brothers at different times and she let them both go. However, Rob also helped with his marriage and execution of Karstark. And the main point here is this - Stark began to lose the war and his most powerful vassals - the Freys and the Boltons betrayed him and made an agreement with the Lannisters
Yes, they even killed the Direwolf. At about that time your little black dog left the room. I don't think your dog enjoyed the Direeolf dying the the final whines when the arrows hit it.

Walder Frey's men stab an innocent pregnant woman in the belly repeatedly - Snax: "They killed the wolf; that's the worst thing." If my house is ever under attack, I want Snax on my side; I'm confident she can handle any crisis and avenge me if it comes to that.
I believe the Boltons are loosely based on smaller eastern european nations such as ones ruled by Vlad the impaler. Their defense wasn't in maintaining large armies but in spreading fear through ghoulishly vicious treatment of their defeated enemies and flaunting their barbarism in front of everyone. Dracula was based on Vlad because one of his cruel theatrics was treating with enemy envoys while he dined among the dying enemy combatants hoisted in the air with spears, bringing his wine cup to the spear to add their blood to his drink. A strange demonic image of barbarism conducted with a cold and detached refinement. Nobody wanted to go to war with them because everyone believed them to be crazy, sadistic, and possibly pure evil. Many soldiers even from much larger and more powerful nations would sooner sneak away from their army rather than risk losing even one battle to enemies like that.
And now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no-one left to hear... Ok so I'm not going to try & justify what Roose Bolton & Walder Frey do here but there are few things to remember: - Firstly, Walder Frey is just a piece of shit. Balls to brains, that man is garbage - The Northmen rode south for Ned & well, Ned is dead - Winter is coming, the Northmen are 1000 miles from home & Robb is talking about invading the Westerlands - The Tyrells alone have (at least) twice as many men as the entire North - Executing Arnolf Karstark & losing Jaime Lannister were HUGE blows to Robb's authority

As far as reactors go, you are the first one I have seen that wasn't crying (sobbing) or so angry they didn't even want to do an outro! So far, of the Starks you like, only one is dead. OK, he "died again" in this episode, but as you know, Robb made too many mistakes and they proved too costly. Arya, Sansa, Bran, Rickon, and even Jon Snow, are still alive though.... so not all the "main" characters are gone. But at least there is still Ghost, Shaggy Dog, and Summer are still alive! And who knows if Arya's wolf is still around... Nymeria. (Recall that Arya chased her away to escape death after she bit Joffrey.) And, it turns out, that Bran is very powerful. Jojen is a "Green seer" as he has visions of things that were, are and could be. Jon killed a warg, who warged into his hawk just before his death, to attack Jon! If you stay in an animal for too long, you end up just becoming that animal and lose your humanity. Bran is the only known person that has visions and can warg! And he even can warg into people, which was unheard of!
