You are no longer a sweet summer child. You are now one of us, men and women of winter.
The North Remembers.
Valar morghulis
Winter is coming
17:59 “maybe it’s a good thing that Ned died early. Now we get to have this kind memory of him.”
You sweet summer child.
I couldn't contain myself laughing when she said that.
💀💀💀💀💀
I was about to comment the EXACT SAME THING. She did not know.
Now a Woman of Winter. I'm so sorry it had to be earned this way 😢 you've been one of the sweetest summer children
Oh please. The sweet summer child nonsense ends with 1x9
@@USCFlash completely disagree and so does most of the fanbase
@@KatBee00
Oh really, you have polled the 100s of millions of GOT fans?
Why is it then, that only 4 out of the 100s of comments refer to this stupid nonsense?
@USCFlash I've been a fan since the books. I've spoken to at least hundreds over the years on forums, on yt reactions, in groups for GoT, in reaction venues. We're talking decades now. So yes, I can wholeheartedly say THIS IS the graduation episode. Look at any 3x09 reaction on here, and the comments will undoubtedly have several people congratulating the creator on becoming a Man or Woman of Winter.
@@KatBee00
Laughable.
You cannot say boo.
You do not have empirical evidence, you have not polled, you have zero statistics.
You have no right to speak for 10s of millions of GOT fans who you have not recorded the opinions of.
Yes, you will undoubtedly see a bunch of folks like you....about 10 per page, "congratulating" them....what you don't see are the 100s of other comments who DO NOT.
Little Ned Stark will never learn to ride horses. 😭
Sure he will...but it will be harder to hold the reigns with his body sliced in half.
GUTTED
@@USCFlash Maybe he can ride Dany’s little batboy in the Dothraki Night Lands.
@@LippsReactsnahhh talisa was gutted.
Read the books and learn real story. This tv show took a lot of liberties and changed whole story.
Fun fact: When Cersei was asking Tywin what he was doing to rescue Jaime, the letter he was writing was to Walder Frey.
And probably one to Roose Bolton when he was talking to Tyrion about Casterly Rock.
The song "The Rains Of Castamere" is first heard whistled by Tyrion as he enters the Small Council in S2E01.
It is then sung by Lannister soldiers before the Blackwater battle starts in S2E09 and the episode ends with a full rendition over the closing credits.
It briefly plays as the closing music to the last scene of S3E05, as Cersei and Tyrion are left in the room after Tywin told them both to marry Loras and Sansa.
It will return.
As a music major, it was the one thing that almost "spoiled" the red wedding. Hearing the tune several times set my anxiety to 11 when the strings played it at the wedding.
@@eldueno6593 You dont need to be a music major to understand that. I recall that cersei talked about house castamere in a scene not to long before this episode, and when i heard it in the red wedding i was like "oh shit". Genius writing that scene.
“Why isn’t everyone in the family a warg?” In the books they all are except Sansa, but that’s because she lost Lady so early on.
Ooooo interesting!
@@LippsReacts Los capítulos en los que Arya wargear a Nymeria en los libros son muy buenos, ahora sabes que Rob murió dos veces, doble dolor
They really ruined the books uh
@@lolmao500 lol yeah sure, the books were the ones “ruined”, got it 🙄
Sansa was always more Tully than Stark.
I’ve seen dozens of got reactions. I’m proud that on all of them, the got fans never spoil anything or even make subtle hints in the comments. Really happy about that
Same here! I like that this fan base always leaves the reactors to finding out for themselves.
It was exactly as Tywin said, Robb won a few battles and thought he was invincible, made quite a few mistakes along the road, lost control of his army, that was his downfall
Indeed indeed
He never lost control of his army. His mistake was he started off as a general. Assmebled the army and marched south. But he never was a politician. He never considered the bigger picture of everything that is not war with a sword. Just like his father who was more expirienced, but still lost like a newbie in the game of betrayal and backstabbing. He needed intelligence, counter-intelligence and political advice.
@@gogaonzhezhora8640 if half his army left before he could even had the idea to march on Casterly Rock, I think it's fair to say he lost control of it. The show incorporated a lot of scenes to display how discord was emerging in his camp, like him sparing the scout, Edmure disobeying his orders and starting his own offensive, the death of the Lannister boys, the routines following Jamie's capture, his mom betraying his trust, Lord Bolton killing him, Karstark disrespecting him saying how he was gonna give him a slap on the wrist and let him go as well as telling him he lost the war before he lost it, etc. Many lords in his army were very conflicted and opposed his actions quite frequently, and they didn't respect him in the end.
@@thestach7729 He never really did much to win their respect. Sure he is Ned Stark's son and heir, but he is not Ned Stark. Sure he can win battles and soldiers love following a victorious commander but what were these victories supposed to lead to? Like Hannibal he could have destroyed army after army and done it until the end of time but those victories mean nothing unless they had led to an end game. Not to discredit his achievements though, but capturing Jamie Lannister and running rings around Tywin Lannister with a much smaller force are no easy feats.
He was fighting a war to save an honorable man but instead picked and chose what oaths he upheld and ultimately expected his lords to foot the bill when it didn't suit him. Not keeping his oaths and honor meant he was giving his Lords a clear message that he was not a man that could not be trusted.
That also shows how smart Tywin is. He knew exactly who contact to, old rival houses, Starks and Boltons, Tullys and Freys. He ended the war with 2 crows and an awful wedding gift.
"I always wanted to be a ranger." -Jon
"I always wanted to be a wizard." -Sam
from season 1.
"You're like, a wizard." -Gilly to Sam
OMG!!! Thank you for bringing this back up. I adore Sam and I adore gilly and their relationship is so beautiful
I love the way his face lights up when Gilly says that.
Fun fact. In the books when Jamie Lannister leaves Harrenhal after being sent to kings landing by Roose Bolton, Jamie tells Roose “give Robb Stark my regards” and during the red wedding before stabbing Robb, Roose Bolton says “Jamie Lannister sends his regards”. Instead of “the Lannister’s send their regards”. Later when asked about it Roose says he was only doing what Jamie had asked of him.
The TV episode that started the entire phenomenon of "UA-cam reactions"
Many book readers (who knew what was coming in this episode) filmed their loved ones watching this episode as it happened back in 2013 and uploaded them to UA-cam.
and so the "Reaction channel" became a thing
The author has been binging reaction videos ever since. That's why he's not finishing the books.
@@Leo_ofRedKeep 🤣🤣🤣
The Walking Dead was my first reaction video which was years before GoT. But this episode definitely raised the bar for sure.
Not necessarily. There were tons of UA-cam reactions before this.
"A Dothraki wedding without at least 3 deaths is considered a dull affair"
Yeah? Come to Westeros, never a dull wedding.
..."And so he spoke, and so he spoke
That Lord of Castamere
But now the rains weep o'er his hall
And not a soul to hear"...🎵🎶🦁
What a song! I love Serj Tankyan's cover of it!
Red Wedding, red wedding. Lots of stabbing and a little beheading. You don't mess around with Walder Frey.
Now lady Cat should time travel and sing this to Rob as a nursery rhyme
Unless you're Arya Stark, a few years later. Then you can even make sandwiches out of his sons.
@@SCharlesDenniconspoilers?!
@@joemackley7894 Dude, if you haven't watched the entire show yet (in 2024...), you shouldn't wander in comment sections like that.
@@SCharlesDennicon I meant for the reactor. I saw it ages ago.
at 17:40 I was like GUUUUURL! if you got tears now, ohhh dear. I totally felt you through all of this episode. We both lost the Sweet Summer Child title. Wishing you all the best on your GoT journey Queen. I just finished mine 💖😁✌
3:42: "That was easier than I expected to to be!"
😅
Left that in the edit so that you all could roast me and my optimistic disposition 😅
@@LippsReactsNah, you had some suspicion. I won't roast you for that.
Well you've been saying things in your reactions about possible consequences for Rob's actions.
It doesn't make the gut punch this episode gives any easier.
I really had been, editing those moments with hindsight was wild I won’t lie. I’m about a full 10 episodes ahead in recording of where I am in editing so I have a lot of knowledge when I edit that either makes me laugh or cry with hindsight
@@LippsReacts fair enough but you still had enough foresight to realise that there would be consequences for Robb marrying Talisa instead of Walder Frey's daughter.
But as I said the Red Wedding is still a serious gut punch as you don't expect so many of the established characters to be taken out at once.
And this is Game of Thrones...
Lipps: "That was easier than i thought it would be". Me: Yes it was wasn't it? Way too easy...
This is the episode where I finally lost any faith in happy endings 😭
Nobody can convince me that Robb's marriage was the reason Frey betray him, Frey was an oportunist sob way before that
Frey never betrayed Robb, he wasn't aligned with Robb in the first place, the quickest way was though Frey's Bridge, the original plan was to capture Robb during the bedding ceremony in order to use him as an exchange for Jaime. And because it didn't go to plan, this happened. The root and the downfall of Robb is all his own mother's fault, Robb was winning the war, could fight Frey and Tywin both at the same time, Jaime to ge used to exchange for Sansa.
We are so young when rains of castamere start to play.
Even didnt know what was rains of castamere... But after the red weeding, rains of castamere never being forget.
And now we remember the story about the Reynes of Castamere from the last episode...
Poor Lipps...knew she was going to be devastated by this.
Deeply. Editing this episode was tragic
@@LippsReacts
You actually recovered much better at the end than I thought you would 👍
Arya already told Tywin... Anyone can die
@@Jose-Lozanchez
So?
We knew that with Ned, before Arya ever met Tywin.
@@USCFlash I refer to Tywin's question to Arya, if she believed that the Young Wolf could not die
Jon hasn’t seen those wolves since they were pups. He thinks his brothers are dead. He has absolutely no reason to suspect they are the Stark wolves.
I think in the book he recognizes Summer, but thinks Bran and Rickon are both dead
@@Igoorboy I’m doing a re-read now. The show has polluted my memory of the story so I can’t remember.
On the night in 2013 when this episode was shown for the first time, it seemed like there was screaming, yelling, cussing and crying around the world. You would have fit right in.
One of hardest episodes of television. Most people were team Stark and this episode leaves everyone feeling lost. The series is still good going forward. You should enjoy season four.
Team Stark-Jon Snow forever!
The song the Raines of castemere is significant if you know the lore. The song is about how house Lannister erased an entire house. Cat knows the meaning behind the song hence why she looks concerned.
Fun Fact : George R.R. Martin initially couldn't write the Red Wedding scene in the books becoz it was too emotional for him to write becoz these characters are like his children, so he finishes the entire book but wrote the Red Wedding scene at the very end
😭😭😭😭
Yeah but in the books caitlin resurrects so
Fun Fact, I didn't believe you at first and had to look it up and you are right, Martin did say that 😀
Sorry to doubt you, but you know how people make up all kind of stuff when posting comments on UA-cam

Could have rescued the show if they'd just kept in Lady Stoneheart
Are we here already? This episode is why they wanted to make this series to begin with.
I remember my head hurt all night after this episode. Welcome to the club.
"And now the rains weep o'er their halls..."
When Sam is talking to Gilly at the start and Gilly says he's like a wizard. Remember back in season one, Sam told Jon he wanted to be a wizard when he was young. Thats why Sam reacted so strongly to Gilly saying that.
Heres the funny thing about this episode. People get super discouraged after it and think they ruined the show. In my opinion, the show only got way better after this. To me, the best seasons are 4-6
I remember reading the Red Wedding for the first time. I could hardly believe the words on the page, just jumping up and down thinking to myself "he can't do this" lmao! Such a chocking moment.
I read it during a difficult time for me and over Christmas holidays, reread like three times those pages because I thought I had misunderstood. Worst thing is that people made fun of me when I said that reading those pages put me in a really dark place for days...I don't think I am dramatic or over sensitive, it's just that in that moment it hit me really hard and I don't think I am the only one.
@@danyf.1442Even if fictional stories affect you that bad it's alright. What's fucked up is people mocking you and invalidating your feelings because fictional stuff affects you. It may be fake but your feelings are real.
And here we go. The one we've been waiting on
I wish you good fortune in the episodes to come.
I was waiting for this one. So many people said they gave up on the show after this episode.
Oh wow interesting. And season 4 has been my favorite season so far. Just wrapped recording on season 4 episode 9.
The Reynes were a family that crossed Tywin Lannister, as a punishment he laid siege to their castle, Castamere, and when they took refuge in its underground he flooded it. The music that starts the Red wedding, the Rains of Castamere is a way to remind to all who forget who Tywin Lannister is.
“The Lannister’s send their regards!” OMG, that still guts me to this day. The Freys and The Bolton’s gotta pay!
“This episode is called the reigns of castamere” is all i needed to hear to get my full attention
3:44 - "That was easier than I expected it to be!" - Her last words. 😄
RIP who I was before I watched season 3 episode 9
I subbed immediately after your reaction. This episode is pretty much responsible for reaction/creator channels and I'm so happy for that. This show still remains a phenomenon. Your reaction pretty much mirrors most of our reactions. Please don't give up on the show. I will be back to watch this with you!
No more Hodoring is gold! 😂
"Why isn't everyone in the family a warg then?" Well you see in the books they are lol
Apart from Sansa, but only because her direwolf dies pretty early into the story
There's no music over the end credits because the audience crying bitter tears is the music.
It's more detailed and sadder in books. Stark's army doesn't die immediately. They resist and fight to protect their king. But the result doesn't change.
Aww, I remember that pain well. I didn't watch the show until after season 7. I'd heard of the red wedding but had no idea THIS was what took place. 😫
RIGHT?! I knew of the red wedding but somehow still thought the Starks would come out on top. Tbh I figured joffereys wedding would be the red wedding…. This was a brutal reveal
"Cut his throat or he'll tell the crows we're here"
Huh? Didn't Tormund just get finished telling Jon they WANT to lure the crows into the open?
That small inconsistency aside, good to see more reactions to this masterpiece of an episode.
The one episode I didn’t want you to Watch.
Actually you handled it much better than I expected.
❤❤❤
Love you
I've watched this episode probably a thousand thousand times and it never gets any easier.. XO
Welcome to winter, they were telling you that winter was coming
Winter is here 😭😭😭
@@LippsReactswinter is still coming, wait my sweet summer child
This episode basically created the reactor channel genre after people thought to record their friends seeing it for the first time.
Welcome to the 3x9 Club.
the red wedding is the only got episode that ends in complete silence. no themes, no songs, only the silence of death.
It’s like we simply let our guards down after Ned’s death. It was shocking but no one who read the books could’ve predicted they would kill off a main character in the prime of the series
While the bedding thing is weird, it is based on historical fact. They would typically try to have as many witnesses as possible to prove that the deed actually happened so no one could claim the marriage wasn't consummated and thus couldn't be easily annulled later. There were even cases of the newlyweds parents spending the first night in the room with the couple to ensure they actually had sex.
You know the red wedding is based off an actual event called black dinner that actually happened…
18:02 "coz now we get to have this like really beautiful memory..."
OH. THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE A GOOD MEMORY LOL--
This randomly popped on my feed and I had to stay for the show. The tear show that is.
Just remember in the books robb is 14 years old
18:15 and so it begins...
Theres a good chance the red wedding would have happened anyways, unless rob had insisted on having the wedding immediately to bond the houses with the freys there was still the boltons he would've had to deal with. Also in the book Roose says Jamie Lannister sends his regards, this is why at the end of the last book lady stone heart demands Breanne to fetch Jamie Lannister. Rob won every battle but lost the war, he was also a warg in the books, they all are except for Sansa since Lady died so soon.
this was hands down one of the best episodes in the entire show.
the rollercoaster of emotions I had in this one, amazing
One of the best reactions I've seen
Lmao the fact i have never been in this channel before and youtube front paged this episode for me. They know i enjoy the death of innocence.
I saw the thumbnail and thought....I need to wait a few days to watch this one.....always a lot to watch again!
Oh man nothing compares to experiencing this for the first time😰
Yup, one of the craziest episodes on tv for sure…
This episode was nuts but the scene in the book was way more insane.. please read the books!
gotta say, cetelyn starks death was flawless, great gore scenes
Red wedding was SAVAGE. Damnit rob couldve just married the girl and still had the other too, just to save face!
Rest in peace to the one true King of The North
Randomly stumbled on this..girl did the Pacino “Godfather 3 Silent cry” …thank God I read this in the books before watching it..never been more upset at words on paper.
I will forever remember first time I saw this episode and how sure I was of never seeing another episode of this show.
Even back then I thought having no music or sound during credits was great touch.
Aah yes, Catelyn getting her karmic due for meddling in her Son's war and not listening to Ned's orders back in S1.
I chuckled this entire episode idk why.
Yo i watched GOT in 2023 without knowing absolutely anything. Didnt even know about the books. When i watched the Red Wedding, i my jaw dropped at the end.
I stopped reading the books tears ago after this chapter, this event is so surprising to so many that is shocking but for people better at reading a story it should come as very realistic to end a war. In the books the killing and destruction is horrific outside the hall and in the camp. I loved Sam and Gilly as character and their performance in the story they were support characters that survived the major power plays of the end.
HERE WE GO
Great reaction to a horrific episode! While it may seem that the betrayal of Walder Frey is solely based on Robb reneging on his agreement to marry one of his daughters, in all likelihood it would have happened anyway for two reasons: the Karstarks went home halving Robb's army, and the Tullys joined forces with the Lannisters. Thus Robb was destined to lose, and Walder's goal to have one his daughters be queen was thwarted. So a deal with the Lannisters was inevitable, because Walder Frey never aligns himself with the losing side.
We're finally here! Oh my my. Oh hell yes....!
Walder Frey is such a good character. One of my favourites
Watching these children of summer "enjoy" these moments is what I live for.
ENJOY !!?😭😭😭😭
"It's only up from here right? That's the worse thing that can happen?"
15:45 "look at all the smiles!" :)
the fact is jamie and rob are both oath breakers. rob just got a pass because everyone liked the starks but he is as guilty as jamie
Jamie is alive his whole clan didn't got wiped out just for breaking an oath rob had to pay for it but it costed him too much compared to Jamie
Yooooo ok facts tbh
Why not show your reaction to Daario Naharis' best line: My sword is yours, my life is yours, my heart is yours.
I had heard of the Red Wedding but like you, I thought it would be happening at Kings Landing outside like some sort of ambush. I was shocked when this happened. 😢 I didn’t know what episode it would be.
You handled this much better than I expected. To borrow some words from Greatjon Umber to Robb Stark in S1E8 (The Pointy End): "Your [heart]... is bloody tough!" 😉
You should be proud…not many reactors stick around after Cat’s throat is slit open. You regained your composure rather well. Just shows you are indeed a true fan of this show and ready to see what comes next. Great reaction ❤
Walder : "Come Closer"

You just started playing fallout, a depressive (yet charming) universe. and now, you get to see one of the most depressing (and memorable) moments of GoT.
You're on a streak to ruin your innocence as fast as possible I see. XD
No but really Lipps, we all felt that moment.. It shocked me to my core :c
I really am speed running it!!
@@LippsReacts xD power to you!
I wish that John would have just gotten in Tormund's, or the Wargs face or even Ygrette's face. And stood up to let them know that not wanting to kill a defenseless old man that doesn't need to die. Doesn't make him still a member of the night's watch and a traitor to them. They know that he is ned Starks bastard. He just has to remind them that he was raised better than they were. That sounds rude as hell, but who gives a damn? It's a valid excuse and I think they would accept it.....Ygritte would. As long as he didnt stop one of them from killing the guy instead.
The Red Wedding overshadows this. But one of the BEST SCENES is in this episode.
Most people notice it but I think that most people also miss how much deeper it actually is.
It's real sweet when Gilly tells Sam that he's like a wizard because he can read. But it is so much sweeter when you remember that Sam told John way back in season one that he always wanted to be a wizard. Now his girl called him one and she had no clue what it meant to him.
Ah the good old cursed 09
5:33 Remember the discussion in s01 between Jon and Sam?
28:03 Congrats you're not a Summer child anymore
Laughing at the reacs and crying as well because it is quite funny to see a sweet summer child but i can only empathize we all been through that
