the editing in this trailer is the best I've seen in years
you must have not seen many recent trailers then, they have been on point recently
That's M. Night Shyamalan for you.
Agree 100%! The music in particular draws you in and drives the whole thing. Even with all the information revealed, I’m still excited to see where it goes. That is what makes a good trailer.
The first oppenheimer trailer is better than this
The trailer for the Korean film 'Believer (2018)' is very up there.

Same I keep rewatching both lmao
You might be the realest person I've ever seen
Leave it to someone like M. Night to make a movie around the idea of following the serial killer as he does his thing but also… Josh Hartnett looks like he’s having a ball playing this character!
It's still not 100% he's the butcher. Maybe it's his daughter. Maybe he knows who the butcher is and doesn't want him caught because he wants revenge. Maybe he has another reason to sabotage the trap. There is gonna be a twist and I think it's kinda too obvious if Hartnett is the butcher. Or maybe we find out that he is a dexter type killer and only kills other serial killers.
@@emu_warrior obviously there’s going to be a twist because that’s M Nights thing but I do not think for one second that his daughter is the butcher😂
@@OrionInSpaceMaybe the daughter has a fraternal twin who died but can control other people's bodies and Josh Hartnett can see dead people...
@@TabethaAurochs listen I would not put it past you if you thought that was what the twist was in this movie given that M Night has experimented with supernatural stuff in his films before

Trap is in the same universe of 6th Sense and Unbreakable. I'm expecting some superpowered shenanigans.
yous can't leave
the whole movie is just so he's daughter can boost her singing carrier. there is no horror. no death, just his daughter singing. and when I mean just her singing, they play ever song of hers all the way through. it's a movie about his daughter singing.
What makes M Night Shayalaman a great filmmaker is his ability to spin a concept or niche on its head. The unbreakable trilogy is a deconstruction of superheroes and super villains. With trap, the antagonist is the actual victim because he is trapped in an environment and in a situation where he has very little options to escape. Therefore he must do whatever it takes to get out. This approach to psychological thrillers is refreshing and smart. Depending on the execution, this has the potential to be one of his best films. I sincerely hope so.
Me too. I love the dichotomy inherent in the story. But also, there's no way there won't be some kind of "second" twist, and I'm really curious to see what it will be. It could be something simple, like he's only half of a serial killing duo and his partner has to help him escape once he's caught. Or they could go super Black Mirror with it and make it some kind of training program for future agents to learn how to think like, and thus catch serial killers (Hartnett being a wannabe agent who is plugged into a training program where the program overrides his memories and he THINKS he's a serial killer). Either way, I'm watching it.
In a sense, Hartnett, has become the protagonist and antagonist wrapped up into one though, hasn't he..? He is our protagonist on the surface, on at least some level, we start rooting for him that he will be able to get him or him and his daughter out alive, WITH her none being the WISER PERHAPS. But on deeper, darker levels from the background he acts out as the much MORE classic example of antagonist serial killer whom normally we would all unanimously be hopin' is CAUGHT and served proper justice be that the end of his life upon discovery by cop, or detective, or imprisoned escaping later on, to continue causing terror in future films á la something along the lines of Hannibal Lecter, or a Michael Myers - or what not, LmMFaO ;) :P :o)

Why does this random guy selling snacks know about secret police plan? Shyamalan’s logic never not disappoints 👍🏻
This is not a secret police plan, it is a plan to leak information to all interested men who fit the profile in order to make them nervous, which is why the police act so openly outside and then inside the building.

Theory: This movie Trap will be based within the Unbreakable universe and/or connected to the Unbreakable storyline. In the Unbreakable Trilogy, the main character in each movie is color coded with their own specific hue. The Overseer is always signified by the color green. Mr. Glass is associated with the color purple, and Kevin/The Beast can always be seen in and around the color yellow. This is solidified in the main poster for the movie "Glass"....So if you notice this guy, this main character in this movie "Trap" is seemingly synonymous with the color red. The red bathroom stalls, the red floor in the main lobby, the red stripe in his shirt, the red apron he puts on in one scene, the red cup he holds in another scene, the red tint and red concert lights, etc. plus the single word title "Trap" in the same vein of the "Unbreakable" trilogy makes me think we might be getting a full blown franchise
the classic m night finale twist... possible and I like the details
Power: unnoticeablity explains how he can do all this stuff.
Yeah after Glass, I do not want an additional installment in that franchise. I rather it be apart of another universe or just its own with some crazy twist of its own merit
Nice theory maybe we will get some Easter eggs where the overseer’s real name is referenced or seen in a police file or something and the beast might also be referenced in some capacity who knows.

It says it’s a NEW entry into the universe and M Knight says it’s different from other stuff he’s done. So I’m going in with the expectation of this being a suspenseful cat and mouse game with no twist. Hartnett loves to play fun roles like this so I think the movie will be really good. We have tix to see it opening night. 😊
The twist is we are expecting a M. Night twist, but the twist is that there is no twist and the father is simply the killer.
The twist is that it’s actually a good M. Night Shyamalan film

Gotta give M.Night his flowers though, still kicking the door in after all these years of hit & miss films. The only other directors that have that much clout in the bank today are cinematic titans like Quentin Tarantino, Chris Nolan and Denis Villeneuve.

the cops/fbi did so many dumb things throughout the movie. First, why would they be doing a briefing in the middle of the concert at the place? They would have done that at the station. M Night bringing his daughters into the family business. Ishana directed The Watchers released in June and Saleka plays Lady Raven. This movie was, I theorize, probably dreamed up as a star vehicle for Saleka but its still pretty good.
Gosh, is it possible that M Night finally made a film that's not shlt again? Dare I get my hopes up?
Exactly what I was wondering
Unbreakable was fine and so was Split, although I guess I am in the minority with that because the only reason people hyped off that film was when they realized it tied into the first film with the end twist (Nobody talked about anything else in the film but that). Glass was the inferior of three but not terrible to me.
Exactly he always makes dumb movies
Mmm, I’m torn on this one. While I want to like it, I also wanted to like The Happening and we all know how that one turned out. 😉
It's a sequel to The Sixth Sense. The reason the police know he is there is because the kid from that movie all grown up now works with police using the ghosts of his victims.
That would be a good twist
I've seen this theory around the internet and I'm aware of the person who started it. Has it seriously captured everyone's imaginations to the point where they can't conceptualise anything else?
I heard this too will be the big twist I hope not I was really hoping Trap would be something different then what split was a secret sequel
I think the older lady in the trailer with the police is a medium that can "sense" who the killer might be.
In time for the 25th anniversary. Haley Joel Osment played a superhero in the Boys who did the same thing.
