      It's still not 100% he's the butcher. Maybe it's his daughter. Maybe he knows who the butcher is and doesn't want him caught because he wants revenge. Maybe he has another reason to sabotage the trap. There is gonna be a twist and I think it's kinda too obvious if Hartnett is the butcher. Or maybe we find out that he is a dexter type killer and only kills other serial killers.

    What makes M Night Shayalaman a great filmmaker is his ability to spin a concept or niche on its head. The unbreakable trilogy is a deconstruction of superheroes and super villains. With trap, the antagonist is the actual victim because he is trapped in an environment and in a situation where he has very little options to escape. Therefore he must do whatever it takes to get out. This approach to psychological thrillers is refreshing and smart. Depending on the execution, this has the potential to be one of his best films. I sincerely hope so.

    • @existentity3476
      @existentity3476 19 днів тому +5

      Me too. I love the dichotomy inherent in the story. But also, there's no way there won't be some kind of "second" twist, and I'm really curious to see what it will be. It could be something simple, like he's only half of a serial killing duo and his partner has to help him escape once he's caught. Or they could go super Black Mirror with it and make it some kind of training program for future agents to learn how to think like, and thus catch serial killers (Hartnett being a wannabe agent who is plugged into a training program where the program overrides his memories and he THINKS he's a serial killer). Either way, I'm watching it.

    • @kennethmullen-qe9hg
      @kennethmullen-qe9hg 10 днів тому +1

      In a sense, Hartnett, has become the protagonist and antagonist wrapped up into one though, hasn't he..? He is our protagonist on the surface, on at least some level, we start rooting for him that he will be able to get him or him and his daughter out alive, WITH her none being the WISER PERHAPS. But on deeper, darker levels from the background he acts out as the much MORE classic example of antagonist serial killer whom normally we would all unanimously be hopin' is CAUGHT and served proper justice be that the end of his life upon discovery by cop, or detective, or imprisoned escaping later on, to continue causing terror in future films á la something along the lines of Hannibal Lecter, or a Michael Myers - or what not, LmMFaO ;) :P :o)

    Josh Hartnett is always amazing in everything hes in. The Faculty, 40 Days and 40 Nights, Thirty Days of Night, Penny Dreadful, Sin City, Lucky Number Sleven, and even in his pretty small role in The Bear. And he always seems to pick really interesting roles. I think he could have been a much bigger star, but just decided to keep being in stuff that he was genuinely interested in.

    Theory: This movie Trap will be based within the Unbreakable universe and/or connected to the Unbreakable storyline. In the Unbreakable Trilogy, the main character in each movie is color coded with their own specific hue. The Overseer is always signified by the color green. Mr. Glass is associated with the color purple, and Kevin/The Beast can always be seen in and around the color yellow. This is solidified in the main poster for the movie "Glass"....So if you notice this guy, this main character in this movie "Trap" is seemingly synonymous with the color red. The red bathroom stalls, the red floor in the main lobby, the red stripe in his shirt, the red apron he puts on in one scene, the red cup he holds in another scene, the red tint and red concert lights, etc. plus the single word title "Trap" in the same vein of the "Unbreakable" trilogy makes me think we might be getting a full blown franchise

      Unbreakable was fine and so was Split, although I guess I am in the minority with that because the only reason people hyped off that film was when they realized it tied into the first film with the end twist (Nobody talked about anything else in the film but that). Glass was the inferior of three but not terrible to me.
