The photo looks simple but on watching this video I realised there is so much detail involved in the drawing before you put paint to paper. May try the drawing? Never really tried a bird yet but, as many of your photos they push us to expand our knowledge. Thanks. Look forward to learning more with you.

Puffin’s are my favorite bird. The lifetime work of Dr. Steven Cress in re-establishing some colonies off the coast of Maine is fascinating.

I followed a previous tutorial from Michelle, in which see painted a pigeon and penguin, but I substituted a Puffin
7:22 Such a good tip about not erasing mistakes until after the new line has been drawn.
My first instructor taught me and I never forgot it!

The first masters class did not disappoint really enjoyed the commentary in the sketching process. Michele has stated that you must start with an accurate under drawing and based on that fact I can see this painting is off to a fantastic start. Will definitely be tuning in next Sunday.

yes love to have this as a full tutorial but also just useful for tips about drawing birds. I always seem to want to make thier bodies longer than they are

Me too! Have a kayak and they are a close paddle. Just have to stay outside prescribed limit for viewing their nesting island. But have paddled with the puffins when they fly over water to feed. They are exquisite! Hoping to paint one of my own pictures but using oils.
