I am 70 years old. when I was 7 I went off the garage roof in my Radio Flyer wagon! Now I wasn't stupid, I knew it needed wings. I attached8 foot 2x4's on it! Yep... Wings! I planned on flying the thing to a nice soft landing across the street. When I got out of the hospital my parents didn't sue Radio Flyer; nope! My dad smacked the crap out of me for being an idiot! The pilot certificate came later in my life!

I didn't get slapped for being stupid flying off of a roof in a . . .oh we didn't have any wagon after my sister, age 2, stuck our other sister, age 1, in the wagon and pulled it kitty corner across an alley, a parking lot, very busy intersection to go to the city park. We did think to throw the smallest pieces of paper out of an attic window, while the same important sister called that baby a little bug 🐛. She meant litter bugs but we got little bugs out of the phrase. We never got pilot licenses. The wagon rider is afraid of heights and flying. We all got ol and I don't care for having a wagon as much now. Glad you got your pilots license. Keep up the lame brain ideas 💡 sometimes they are on the right ✅ mark in the wrong bowling lane. 🎳 maybe the ✈ runway 🏃‍♂️ lights ✨ could be a little dim and pointless sometimes. The smile when the object has landed safely 😊tells the tail ✈ 🛩 🛬 correctly. 😂

I use Borax for deep cleaning laundry, making laundry detergent, insecticide (safer & cheaper), garden bug killer-if done in small amounts, weed killer-but you can use vinegar for this as well. Big companies don't like people who gain knowledge about chemicals to use wisely because their products won't sell if you "Know."

I know something about Borax. Talking to a little old lady in 1992 about a flea problem my cat brought into my apartment. Went home with a box of Borax, sprinkled in waves from the far end of my apartment to the door. You could see the fleas in full on panic mode trying to stay ahead of the borax rain. All gone - 1 application - 45 minutes later I vacuumed it all up and de-flead the cat - problem gone.

@condew6103 - My plumber, just yesterday, was trying to convince me to buy this new water filtration system for the house. Naturally it's a $6000 system, but you could tell he really, really believes how bad water is, even confessing that he wouldn't even shower in water that is unfiltrated. So I asked him some questions:
      1. What about all the food that has water in it? The factories don't filter their water to that level.
      2. His 3 kids all play baseball. Do you bring 3 giant water containers from home filled with the ultra-filtrated water for those all day tournaments? No.
      3. Do you allow your kids to go to the swimming pool? Yes.
      4. How many people die from toxic chemical absorption swimming here in our local lake? Ummmmm.......
I declined the filter system and he walked away feeling a bit silly. Win-win.

@@TheTibetyak Huh? Listen are you on a well? All water is treated! every drop of water that we use has some form of filtration for it. Municipal water treatment is a massive operation for every city and public water supply. Now Even if you are on City water its going to have some constituents in that water after treatment. I can guarantee it will be full of minerals that are both good and bad at the same time good for you to drink but will play a role in staining and leaving hard mineral deposits everywhere. If that doesn't bother you then perfect! however it will have chlorine at about 3 -4 ppm I do not want to drink chlorine at any level. If I gave you a glass of water and said here this has trace amounts of arsenic, nitrates, and uranium and this glass has nothing which one are you going to drink from?
All municipal water treatment results should be provided in every county and city in the U.S. you would just google up those results and you can see whats in the water supply. But if you're on a well you need to be testing your own well. Please at least every few years as water tables can change.
Now I don't know what your lab results look like from your well and I don't know which part of the world you live in. Your water in most cases will need some type of filtration. If you aren't testing it periodically how would you know? There are some spring wells that are actually pretty good right out of the ground. but more and more as time goes one these will become less and less. PFAS testing has shown that PTFE teflon, plastics are forever chemical bonds that are in everything we touch now days. If you don't give a hoot about that and pesticides herbicides that make it down into the water tables when it rains I say you're crazy. But it's your life and you can do what you want with it for the most part.
      Good luck

My dog had a recurring skin problem that was very like mange except that the other dogs never caught it from her. I put a gallon of hot tap water in a small trash can (she was a small dog), dissolved as much 20 Mule Team Borax in it as would (it took a lot), then added a gallon of apple cider vinegar (NOT white vinegar, that burns), and stood her up in the container full of that mixture, making sure to also pour enough on to soak her head, ears, front paws, and any part that was not submerged. I was advised to soak her for 20 minutes but she was just too nervous a little girlie to do that so she probably spent 4-5 minutes in the water and then was lifted out, wrapped in a towel, and cuddled for awhile. (no rinsing) Immediately her horrible itching stopped and within a few days her big bald spots had hair growing. The hair came back amazingly quickly and within a week she would be her normal fluffytailed self again. I did all 3 dogs maybe twice but she kept getting it over and over so she had maybe 10 treatments in 16 months, Then it finally left her alone. BONUS: None of them ever needed any sort of that horrible flea repellant again although they lived for 8-10 years after that.

I use borax mixed with washing soda and Zote soap to make washing machine detergent for about 40 cents a gallon. I am curious to know how much a gallon of Tide costs now days. I have been using it for years with no problem. About a year after the homesteading YT community started showing this, the detergent manufacturers paid some in that community to make videos saying it would destroy your washing machine and septic system. Apparently, they were afraid this would take off and they would lose a lot of money. A surfactant scientist chimed in and dispelled the rumors, saying it's basically the same stuff you buy, only without fillers like microbeads, etc., that actually are harmful to the environment.
    Thanks for the science, Steve!

You should stop that. If you don’t believe me ask any dentist. If you don’t ask…. You probably know but just don’t WANT to know it’s bad.
It’s toxic to ingest borax and using it as toothpaste will inevitably lead to swallowing some amount.
Over and over and over ….
Plus there is no reason or benefit to doing so. Baking soda is already abrasive and could be even too abrasive depending on your mouth, how you brush, and your toothbrush.
Secondly it’s way too abrasive and I. Sure your teeth are clean but you probably have very little or NO enamel left.
So do you rinse with vinegar or hydrogen peroxide after? (Please say mo cause that would just be doubly awful)

You may get constipated or you may have diarrhea, but it sure works out great for arthritis in your hands and joints. It also helps to cut your cravings for sweets. The reason people take it (heavily diluted with water and drink it) is mostly because of the high Boron content in Borax. Boron is a trace mineral, that most of us do not get enough of. Boron is necessary, to help calcium absorb into our bones. Boron is also said to help rebuild cartridge. I have arthritis, therefore I believe it will be beneficial for me. Wish I had understood this years ago, then my arthritis, may have been prevented! Thank you for your video! Please do correct me if I’m mistaken on anything I said here. I’m still researching. Borax in large quantities OR exposure to playing with slime for hours at a time for almost 2 years (being drenched in borax with water solution) is BAD! My nephew is obsessed with his slime collection. Yesterday he complained of really bad stomach pain. I thought it was gas so I had him lie down. Soon after he said he wanted to throw up. He vomited twice. He had clammy skin on his forehead and looked extremely pale. I did research on the internet and found that the bad stomach aches, nausea, vomiting were the immediate symptoms of boric acid toxicity. The body absorbs through the skin, nose, mouth, and eyes. My dog has also signs of patches of scaly, itchy, and dry skin. I’m not sure if loss of appetite is another symptom, but both nephew & his pet have experienced this over long period of exposure to his use of borax with his slime. He suffers from ADHD and playing with slime was Godsend in terms of calming him down. He will be turning 12 next month. He is now afraid to touch his slime, because we all believe that, and according to articles online, the accumulation of borax (boric acid) over time has absorbed into his body specifically bone and fatty tissue.
Yes, borax or a derivative of boron is harmless in small quantities like salt, but a large exposure to anything can be lethal! We have bagged all his slime and dumped in the trash. This is a warning to all avid slime users!!! 😤

I believe it's because the laundry detergent companies got pissed off that people are making their own using borax and washing soda.

I use borax as a flux for blacksmithing as it prevents fire scale from forming when you forgeweld.

Jaxxon Koethler borax is actually a great flux for brazing. Simply heat up the uncoated rod with the torch and stick it in some borax powder. Then braze as usual.

Borax would be poisonous, except the mammalian kidney is very good at filtering any excess of it out of your blood. As a result, it can't build up to toxic levels unless you consume stupidly large amounts of it (the toxicity to humans is similar to things like salt or baking soda).
However it's a totally different story for insects. Insects don't have kidneys, instead they have something called Malpighian tubules, which aren't very good at filtering out boron. As a result, even a small daily intake of borax (or boric acid) accumulates in an insect's body and ends up poisoning it. This makes borax (and boric acid) a very safe natural insecticide. It also has antifungal properties, which makes it good for laundry.

Hugh Easton .... .... Boric acid is also a treatment for Termites, spraying a liquid version directly onto infested areas...last time I checked it was around $100 a gallon for the commercial sprayable version....ouch!!

J Dovak borax does not contain boric acid. That would be akin to saying table salt contains hydrochloric acid.
