That 'Brits' award being given to the great Paul Weller is a well deserved accolade for one of Britain's very best and most enduring singer songwriters. Hopefully, he had a huge party to celebrate this recognition for his achievements straight after the show.
I think one of the main reasons why his brilliant music was never popular in the US, is because he sings about ordinary English suburban life in his songs and the Americans just can't relate to them on the same level as we can. It's their loss.

I don't reckon he's a guy whose into titles bestowed by the state mate, he's already said no to a CBE, no he's a bloke who likes some interaction with his fans and therefore he'd never accept anything that'd set him apart from them.
Paul Weller has already stated that he would never accept a knighthood if it was ever offered to him, as it's just not his type of thing. David Bowie also turned one down for the same reasons.
