Welcome to Max's Cognac Review. I am an avid cognac enthusiast and explorer. There is very little information and opinion on quality cognacs so I felt compelled to share my nose and thoughts. The goal is to help educate and assist others in making the right decisions for their palate and wallets. Please enjoy it with a wee dram!

Great review Max! The Armagnac is much more complex you are right. For me it compliments my Cognac collection but can never replace it and vice versa! Armagnac is much better value these days and I thoroughly enjoy it equally to Cognac because they are same family of spirits. Glad you are reviewing these as there are many distillers worthy of notion. Just opened a 20 year XO Casterede. My God. The nose itself is like perfume. So rich and beautiful to smell. My other one is a Dartigalongue from the year 1995. Cost me about 45 bucks in Italy. Worth. Every. Penny.
Hey Adon, thanks for checking out the review. I need to discover Armagnac. I will keep an eye out for the bottles you mentioned. Looking forward to reviewing some more Armagnacs soon. Do not hesitate to let me know if you have any other recommendations for me. Cheers!
Max's Cognac Review Thanks for your reply Max. I am sure you will start to love Armangnac for what it is. A quality spirit with more complexity and character. Maybe little harsher than Cognac because of distillation tech. But that adds to its character. Chateau De Laubade VSOP, Prince Darignac XO. Amazing taste and amazing price. Keep up the good work.
castarede is awesome quality. I have the 77, 79, and the xo. All are amazing.
The day Armagnac stops being underrated is the day it will become overpriced and over hyped like certain whiskies, not to mention jumping the shark with kitschy bottles like Cognac. It's a secret to only reveal to earnest enthusiasts. Armagnac? What's that? 😎
Great point! I am loading the boat with vintage Armagnacs! Cheers
me too, just recently got a 1977 casterede that i'm saving for the birth of a grandchild this spring.
Marie Duffau is one of the most common Armagnacs in the USA. I love it. The most pronounced flavors are cherries and WALNUTS. Tans of walnuts. Agree that Armagnacs are way under-valued.
Christian Ivanov thank you for checking out my reviews Christian! Armagnacs are my favorite Brandy’s. Incredibly undervalued and under appreciated. 🥂
great, as always, cheers
Hey thank you Ach, Happy holidays! Cheers
I have this one now...people really do sleep on it...its great
We bought a bottle of it after your recommendation here and just finished it.. it was Fantástico! Thanks for pointing it out to us.. looking to get another one soon
Happy holidays!
Cheers !
Love Marie Duffau
Alfredo Becerra me too! Thanks for checking out the review! Cheers
caterede xo is a great armagnac. its min 20yrs old and about $85 in calgary. No better value in fine spirits.
Thanks, Mark! I have been looking forward to trying more Armagnacs. I truly appreciate the recommendation. I will keep an eye out for it. Cheers!
Thanks for doing this review, it was very helpful!
I am just getting into building a whisky collection and I will search for Armagnac in my area to add to it.
Do you have a suggestion for a Cognac to start with for someone new?
Hey thanks for checking out the review. I am building a collection as well. Although Hennessy is the best easily available Cognac, I recommend taking a look at some of the smaller lesser known houses. The Camus Boarderies and Courvoisier 12 year age are my two favorite “VSOP” grade Cognacs. There a couple great XOs that can be found for about the same price ($50), Chabanneau XO(also made by Camus) and Costco XO (distilled by Peyrat). Those offer a great value for the money. When you are ready to get serious, you have to pick up a bottle of Martell Cordon Blue. Cheers !
Welp...down another Rabbit Hole I go! ❤🥃

Just to round off this enticing review, what score are you giving it ?
Gerry Ravalo hey Gerry thanks for checking out the review. I do not have as much experience with Armagnac so I held off on leaving a score.... for my money.... it is a 99/100. Cheers !
The one in this video, I'll be drinking it tonight while I'm watching ( MOSES ). Lot of critics like this booze. It'll be my first Armagnac.
Hey Chris, let me know your thoughts on it. I just bought a bottle of Delord 25 year... looking forward to the review. Cheers
Max's Brandy Review I drank it on Saturday. Very good. I only paid $50 at Binny’s , but I would have gladly paid $100.
As far as you critics go; wether I smell raisins, wood, etc....., Beats me, but aroma was wonderful.
HAppy to hear! There are alot of overpriced spirits out there. This one is truly a hidden gem. Cheers
Your intro is bad, but the content of this video is really good. Keep it up!

You won't do a Louis xiii review lol you'll be on a whole other status
Aaron Phongsavath It would be a pleasure, sure... if you want to provide the bottle! Louis XIII is probably the most overpriced Cognac on the market. The goal of my review is to educate newbies about the sweet spots and the potholes in the Cognac market. Louis XIII is a magnet for uneducated novices with little to no experience with Cognac. Martell’s Cordon Blue for example, blows Louis XIII out of the water at a fraction of the price point. I do appreciate the suggestion and I will get around to reviewing Louis XIII, just not on my dime. I will meet you half way and pick up a bottle of Remy XO. Cheers 🥂
