Actually, cask-making was a Celtic speciality, pre-dating the Vikings.

Armagnac is a testament to European culture, I wish I had found it earlier

I agree with you completely; a fitting tribute of just what can be achieved in Europe when we all pull together. As for recently finding Armagnac, I'm tempted to say "better late than never"! 😃😃😃

7:27 if the Armagnac has been in a crystal bottle for over a century would that not render it unsafe to drink because of the lead? Really enjoyed this video by the way, thank you for posting it.

Glad you enjoyed the video! I hear what you say about lead for crystal decanters. This is based on an American study way back. You would need to drink hundreds of gallons of crystal contained liquid for it to have even the merest effect. Apart from that, the famous French crystal house, Lalique, invented a process in the early 20th century to effectively treat the linings of all crystal containers, making them completely impermeable to lead migration. This is used in all French spirit bottle production so an Armagnac in a crystal bottle for 100 years would still be absolutely fine to drink. As far as our own production is concerned, we do not bottle any of our precious Armagnacs until we receive an order; they are either kept in French oak casks or pure glass demi-johns in our cellars. Only once we receive an order, do we bottle the Armagnac, thus ensuring optimum quality at time of shipping. This is true for our crystal decanters as well as for our normal glass bottles. I hope this answers your question.
