2020 A Midsummer Nights Dream

- ABOUT THE PLAY: Perhaps Shakespeare’s most beloved and cherished comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, like the bard himself, seems to transcend time. The play is set in the age of Greek heroes, an ambiguous time period that serves as the backdrop to many of the mythologies with which we are familiar. The main action of the play, which takes place in the woods near ancient Athens, is a place where time, seasons, and moon phases are controlled by feuding fairies. In our production, we have set out to have fun with a malleable temporal dimension and be “time’s subjects.”
For the Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival, the concept of time is something we are reflecting on as we look back on thirty years of Shakespeare by the Sea. Amid the pandemic, the protests, and the politics that have consumed our nation in recent days and threatened our way of life, PBSF made the decision to offer a virtual festival this summer. I speak for the entire company when I say that our hearts pine for the day that we can all gather together again under the stars and “dream away the time.”

PUCK'S ACTRESS WAS SO UNHINGED AND ADORABLE I LOVED THIS PERFORMANCE SO MUCH
Real❤❤
Mee too
I don't know why nobody is talking about puck's performance...!
Like she was so much in the character.
The emotional masochism of Helena is rather apparent in this performance. Bravo! The more Demetrius disrespects her the more she is drawn to him and the moment he shows her true love she is sceptical of it.
Robin the puck really steals the show with her boundless energy an mannerisms. Even when others speak her reactions are on point every time.
Hermia is really powerful when all seem to turn against her. Literally jumping with rage. Good scene.
Good performance by all!
Thanks for bringing this up I’m playing Helena and this is a new aspect to see!
Is anyone else watching bc they have an essay to write tomorrow

LMAO
Puck has so much energy
I have apparently watched the movie with Michelle Pfeiffer and the others many times as I know much of the dialogue. I am watching this for my humanities class. Mercy I love this play. I am only a little ways in and I love this rendition.
watching this for an art assignment, we have to illustrate a shakespeare character of our choice and i wanted to do someone out of a midsummer night's dream because designing these guys seemed like a ton of fun. enamored with this rendition of puck & her unhinged energy especially
"and though she be but little she is fierce"
"A privilege... never to see me more!" Lol!
I love this interpretation of Mid Summer…and every one gave amazing performances!! Thank you for sharing this video!!!❤👏🏼👏🏼

It's really an amazing 👏 performance
I’m doing this this year at my school and I have to be Demetrious and I’m a girl
Wow someone named bacon absolutely wrote this.
amazing, but i have one question: HOW DO THEY REMEMBER ALL THOSE LINES
(i am watching because this is my school play this year. i got Hermia’s part)
Oh nice, same but we're still going through auditions for my highschool
One of the reasons Shakespeare wrote in iambic pentameter is that it is easier to memorize. Because it has rhythm and cadence, it feels a bit like a song which is so much easier to memorize than prose.
Same! I'm waiting for audition results.
As silly as it sounds, I usually make a quizlet, the line before mine is the term and my line is the definition

Im a bit confused. Did this production actually go on in 2020? If so, how? Did covid not happen in Florida? Did Florida just pretend it wasn't happening?
Bro shut up there was most def procedures to insure people’s safety which is why this was posted and not performed w a live audience
@@user-br2qi4po4g We found the covid denier in the room
I'm assuming, since it says it went on then, it actually did. Why would a professional company lie about that? Seems a strange assumption to make. COVID absolutely happened in Florida. All of the actors seem to be social-distancing (you'll see they're pretty far apart from one another the entire time), and there is no audience, which means this was recorded in an empty theatre, and so likely the only the public could see this production was this recording. Thankfully for all of us, it's still up!
