"How about Guile?"
"...from Street Fighter?"
"Yeah. Scott Adkins can play him."
Ohh old school 😁
Echoes my exact thoughts too 🤣
Sonic boom!
Yes totally, stick a blond flat top on him and he'd pull Guile off perfectly
Guile wouldn't taunt him like that in the end, he's a family man after all.
Scott Adkins is criminally amongst the most underrated action star, he surely deserves more recognition as he's both a good actor and a great performer of martial arts
Agreed. He deserves an MCU or a DCEU protagonist role
hes a better actor than MJW

that first throw by the tai Chi master was an amazing piece of cinematography and one of the coolest moves i have ever seen in a kung fu movie, including ip man's moves.
I mean for someone who fought an opponent WAY above his weight class and size, he did splendidly.
Don’t forget the age difference
Also it's fake so

@@hasselbecksucks Actors are both the same age. Scott Adkins is in fact older than the Tai Chi master. Same age but different body size, strength and conditioning heavily favoring the Marine.
@@sherlacivarexnefrior8570 true
What I love about many fights in the Ip Man movies is that often the pendulum seems to swing between the opponents for a while; like here, at some point Adkin's character seems only seconds away from winning, but then the master surprises him again once more... these fights are really great and entertaining to watch!
Wan's mistake was switching to an aggressive style. In the beginning he used classic tai chi where it uses the opponents momentum against them. He felt he needed more power mid way though and changed styles and he was no longer a threat after that.
Many factors against Wan. Even before the first punch is thrown his opponent clearly has a size and weight advantage, plus he’s younger. I agree midway through the fight he switched styles maybe he felt he had to because although he opponent kept getting knocked down and taking blows he kept coming back so he thought he had to go another way but that was a mistake.
His aggressive style being effective is demonstrated at 1:54. It is only a movie which I really enjoyed but this move would be hard to recover from quickly let alone initiate a one hand stand double side kick lol
@@R-L-I You know Scott Atkins is older than the actor playing Wan?
True, if he wan kept playing safe like the earlier part of the fight he could have won, going agressive against someone who is bigger and has a stronger body us a BIG mistake.
@@mysticalmagic9259 actually scott is 2 months younger. They was born on the same year
Am I the only one who think it's unfair that Scott had boots and the Master didn't? That's a huge advantage for the General
Böyle esneklik isteyen dövüş sanatlarında inan ki o çizme tam tersi bir dezavantaj olur...
True, but that boot weighs so he needs to use more energy to do his kicks and move around.
i say this every time i watch ip man 4 vids. those marine boots are heavy and is basically like brass knuckles on his feet.
Definitely. It even further increases his height advantage, if ever so slightly. Of course Scott is still an amazing fighter who could have won barefoot just as well.
More power less agile
2:26 my guy fucking perfect dodged
Master's hair is the real OG, didnt get messed up not one bit
'my head may roll, but my hair will never be messed up'
His punch pretty weak🤣
That’s Chinese gel for you lmao
Powers of having oil in your hair
He shampooed with "Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific!"
0:08 I like that push back
It isn't exaggerated at all when they say taking too many bodyshots will slow a fighter down significantly.body shots literally drain the energy from a fighter. You can see master Wan started to deplete over time eventually getting wacked.
Scott is physically superior as well. He can tank hits but the other one can't.
Well IP man took harder and more hits all over his body and it was like "nope not gona affect me".
At 2:06 One of the guys in the background broke character 😂
Ah fuck!!! It appears so...🤣
2:27 despite losing, that is one cool defensive move. If only there was some furniture so create more damage.
I think the masters biggest flaw, is that he tried to fight aggresivly against another aggressive fighter, who's also physically larger then him. Ip Man on the other hand, is an almost purely defensive fighter. Instead of rushing in to attack a bigger guy who can shrug off strikes he sees coming, he should've bided his time like Ip man, and used his strength against him.
were are you from ?
It.s a movie, for GOd's sake XD
@@rogertaylor3951 even so, chris has a point btw and don't u understood the movie? re watch it if u have to so u'd know exactly what he said:)
At the begining the master could always kick the big guy's ass, but the master was too old and his physical stamina was not able to carry on.
you sound like an idiot. He was always going to get his ass beat that fake kungfu crap can only beat old people and children.
It's pretty fucking badass how Wan rallies himself at 1:49 and tries to keep going, despite how the fight has turned against him. The choreo reflects it too, he still gets beat, but he keeps trying clever techniques and gets a few good hits in well past the point where, in most movies, he'd be a punching-bag.
A couple good hits that strangely don’t seem to leave any marks or bruises
You mean that the actor for Master Wan is known for having roles in which he is considered to be a punching bag?
@@enlightened7master Nah, just that many films present fights as being more thematically unilateral than they tend to actually be, with the designated winner taking essentially no damage past the point of the fight turning in their favor. Not that any aspect of realism is all that matters in a choreographed fight, but it is a neat inclusion.
@@asadafgan9308 Meh, true enough. Your point?
@@cr820 The point is that the place is called "Sneed's Feed & Seed" which is clever in itself and quite funny to those with a mature sense of humour but what's really just hilarious about it is that if you look closely at the front of this store, Sneed's Feed & Seed, you can see a line that reads "Formerly Chuck's". Now, this might go over the average viewer's head as this, THIS, is peak comedy. I doubt anything will ever be as funny as the joke about Sneed's Feed & Seed. Are you ready for this one? So, like I said, the place is called "Sneed's Feed & Seed" and this sign says "Formerly Chuck's", which means that when Chuck owned the place, well, I don't have to tell you...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Scott Adkins is the only "villan" that Ip Man actually connected or finished that throat punch. Haven't seen the movie's in a while, but still bad ass
Yeah but Ip Man did it against one of the 10 black belts he fought when he was blood lusted with full intention to kill.
He punched one right in the throat which does far more damage than the finger jab he did to Scott Adkins, the latter which only temporarily caves in the relatively spongy trachea while the former will completely collapse it.
Ip Man didn't want to kill Scott Adkins which is why he used the finger jab instead of a punch to his throat like he did to one of the 10 black belts.
@@sherlacivarexnefrior8570 that was not finger jab, it was a spearhand. It is much more destructive.
@@novrahadi8568 Yes, more destructive but a closed knuckle strike is still the most destructive as full power and leverage can be delivered without all the bodyweight having to be supported by the fingers vs knuckles just like you do a finger vs knuckle push ups which the latter is far easier.
Ip Man only used the spearhand because his left arm was broken and couldn't clinch Scott Adkins for clearing a closed knuckle strike that would've completely collapsed his trachea.
@@sherlacivarexnefrior8570 extreme conditioned spearhand is more dangerous.
@@sherlacivarexnefrior8570 Consider the fact that the force is being applied from a much smaller surface area. It would be more destructive from the finger jab because it is more concentrated. Plus, it is Ip Man. You know his fingers are not gonna break.
Wan was doing so well on the counter defensive, but when he had to attack his defensive got vulnerable, maybe he would have a better chance if he didn't change his strategy waiting for the best moment to counter attack a fatal blow, the worth mistake you can possible make against someone stronger than you is a attack straight on,once you get your defensive vulnerable that's it,this fight is the perfect exemple.
It's not wise to be overly passive against a stronger opponenent. Defence is always riskier, apart from you spend a lot of time on not to get pounded, the opponent can dictate a tempo that throws you off balance.
Yea, Taichi is a counter punch kind of martial arts, counter striking and using opponent's momentum and weight against them. Dude was doing well countering but gets countered everytime he tries to rush in himself or tried to take him head on. Probably its due to the story and plot, that honor, daughter and pride is on the line which makes him lose his cool.
But the best defense is offense . . 🤔🤔
@@ale03000No the best defence is not to be there in the first place.
It felt like Wan was much more skilled, but Atkins just had that raw power and muscle
Yup! Raw power.
Scotts Durability was Xmen level here. Those hits he took were finishers
I feel like this was more of a plot-required defeat more than anything. Wan's speed was destroying him without mistake at the beginning. Hard to imagine it would all of a sudden turn around and he would be so careless and lacking of ability when he put up such an even fight against IP man.
They forgot to give something that nerfed the master like in Ip Man 2 Hung got asthma. Ip Man got nerfed too by no kicking in second movie and in fourth movie by injured left hand.
Kinda..... his speed and precision was certainly doing well in the beginning. The biggest difference here is that nothing he was doing to scott adkins was actually damaging him. Maybe if this fight was on cement it would have been different story but otherwise throwing him around looks cool but clearly wasn't hurting him much (maybe the area there fighting in is slightly matted) Scott's hits on the other hand (when they landed) was causing real damage since he is a much bigger and stronger opponent. Tai Chi guy did great but he just had no way to actually finish the fight against someone who's conditioning and cardio was going to keep him in there much longer. Size and weight always matter in a fight, all things equal, the bigger guys hits are going to cause more damage if it starts becoming a battle where you trade off (which kinda does midway through the fight). The difference here is Wan and Ip man are about the same size (wan might even be a little bigger) so he doesn't have to worry about being out muscled and out damaged by IP man. Thats why he was able to fight Ip man more evenly. Here his lack of ability to finish quickly (because tai chi is really more about intercepting and re directing) was a bad match up against an opponent who isn't going to go down quickly unless you get him in a big way. Also said opponents hits are going to cause big damage in return so you basically have to be perfect in your dodging or blocking (something no one can do). Remember IP man had to attack his vitals to win (perfectly valid tactic). Wan might want to learn to add some more offensive techniques to his style.
Every single time scott gets thrown on the ground he gets up like nothing despite being heavier. Wan gets thrown once at 2:05 without having received any damage after his recovery at 1:52 and its like he got hit in the head again. 1:55 Scott gets a fucking elbow into the solar plexus and treats it like a light slap.
@@EduardoLopez-tged Scott Adkins' height is the same as General Miura's, not 'much bigger' in that regard.
@@SD-lp3kx yeah, here master wan should have taken the victory. He should have won after all, wan was a Chinese so these directors they will these whities more than him that's why he lost the fight
When master wan was trying to fight defensively he is safe , but when he starts to attack then that's gone wrong.
Yeah his style was Tai chi which is using their opponents momentum against them but for some reason master Wan tried to attack him but he opened himself vulnerable to being attacked.
@@ezanamelekot6796I’d like to add he was mentally unbalanced due to the Kung Fu masters being under attack prior to this scene and worrying about his daughter and it made him more aggressive and use more offense from being pissed off rather than sticking to his original style

Many people don't notice that maybe their skill might be equal, but scott was having strength advantage. In this fight, he Many times used his strength rather than skill so he of course had to win.
Wan also made a mistake in this fight. Instead of countering his attacks he tried to attack him.

Love Scott Adkins but must say I really hated him in this movie! Just goes to show what a great character actor he can be. His fighting technique is a pleasure to watch.
I agree. I like the fights, but hate his character. Adkins is incredibly respectful and a big fan of Chinese and Hong Kong action movies and actors. It would be better if he played a good guy or a villain who redeemed himself.
U are right, i hate him on this movie.. it means he succed to play this character
The best villains are either villains you absolutely despise, or villains you can relate to. Scott Adkins played this racist and xenophobic sergeant so well that we all hated the character.
All actors did a fantastic job!
Wan didn't make a mistake trying to go aggressive, I don't think. His original tactic just wasn't working. He was throwing around Barton like a ragdoll several times at the start and it didn't even faze him. For one of them, he immediately springs back up and goes right back into the fight, zero downtime needed. He never got winded. He never needed time to recover. No damage was done. It just wasn't working. Wan had to try something else, because Barton was not going to tire himself out any time soon. And Barton's no idiot either. Once he realizes that a headlong rush isn't working for him, he went for a more solid stance and close combat, where Wan's techniques are much more limited. He had to switch it up or he'd get beat down.
It didn't end up working out for him, but that doesn't mean it was a mistake. He read the fight, he concluded that a change was needed, so he tried that and it still wasn't enough. Barton is surprisingly fast and agile for a guy his size, is much heavier and stronger and is, for some reason, allowed to wear combat boots, which would hurt like a motherfucker when they hit you. I've no doubt he still would have won even if both had been barefoot, but yea. Wan's only mistake was accepting the fight in the first place, since his opponent just had too much advantage. And yes, I know the story more or less 'forced' him to accept the fight, but I'm just saying, things were looking dire for him from the start.
It was all good until the guy changed his tactics, then started tearing at his defenses to make him have to attack aggressively
0:50 too bad this was Ip Man's movie, and now this guy's.... cuz DAMN!!! this guy is good.
1:55 love how they make it seem like he somehow did a 180 on the ground and kicked him.

People pointing out Wan was doing quite well against Scott until he went from being a defensive fighter to more offensive... I think he knew by how Scott was getting back up from being thrown around, that was not going to win the fight... the dude has amazing determination, stamina and power... he'd be thrown around for a long time and still keep coming back... so you have to switch to something that will keep him down beyond just throwing him to the ground. The movie really does play Wan up as being pretty much even with Ip Man, so I'm in agreement with a few other commenters that there ought to be more to his defeat, or rather that it ought to be less of a sudden turnaround, what with how Ip Man later beats Adkins's character. Still size and strength do count for a lot, and Wing Chun does have more outright striking than the modded Taiji Wan's doing, so there's that.
I think he isn't really even with Ip Man. Ip Man tends to not fight full force until he's forced to.
@@leechrec I mean, to each their own opinion, but he fights him to a standstill while literally holding one hand behind his back out of respect for Ip Man's injury.
The reason ip man did better is coz he didn't get overconfident like Wan did and fight stupidly aggressively. He only got aggressive when his opponent was off balance. He also went for pressure points, so as scott got weaker, he targetted parts like his eye, his head, even his balls. Wan didn't do ANY of that, which was why he was unable to hurt him
