This movie reminded me that Mike Tyson can still fight. But people forget that Donnie Yen can actually fight in real life, he has multiple black belts and is a mixed martial artist. He even broke one of Tyson's fingers during the scene.
This, and also he's actually had to fight off many people in real life, I think the story involved a girl on a date or something? Been a long time since I read it.

@@leminh8836 Mike Tyson used to fight as a kid. Kids paid him to fight others from other hoods. That's how he learned he has a talent for fighting. He's broken his hands many times as a result. Donnie has been training martial arts since a young child though, obviously not a heavy weight by any means. But a capable, well rounded life long martial artist who happens to also be an actor. Same as Jackie Chan, Sammu Hung, etc all capable life long martial artists not to be under estimated by any means.

Donnie Yen is one of the most skilful martial artists in the world. One of my all time favourites. But Big Mike is a stone cold killer. I have no doubt during filming he was in the zone and really landed some of those big ones. That head bobbing he did in the early part of the video, were the real deal. This scene for me is very special because we're watching 2 trained fighters, two of the very best in the world today.
Best freaking fight choreography. It looked so fast and the hits looked hard. Ofc the raid is much more brutal but ip man is just too elegant
The Raid fight scenes are kind of fight to the death. While Ip man kinda competition fight. No killing happen in these fight.

I love the choreography of Tyson vs Yen.
The whole fight they evolve their tactics to try and crack the other guys.Tyson tries to over power Yen. Donnie can't go fist for fist with Tyson's power so he starts low attacks and grapples. Tyson starts loosing his footing so he starts using throws. It's a wordless chess match between two masters

The fight against Master Shin is still my favorite. He fight with a feather against a sword and shows it's not about the weapon, it's about the fighter. And Master Shin is a fun character.

As per the movie ipman won cuz towards the end he was targetting eyes and balls... A human weakness! Stepped up cleverness when skills dint work.. that was kind of nice though even for a film choreography (even if isn't real)

The fight with Mike is absolutely one of my favorite scenes that Donnie has ever done, and that includes that hilarious fight in Rogue One. But you have to admit...any one of those shots that he took from Mike should have ended the fight right there and then. You don't get hit by Iron Mike and just walk it off. lol
I still give this fight to mike. It looks like he did more damage to ip.
Martial art expert know how to hold injured and pain to continue fight. Thats means they can stand more longer even get hit by hit from iron man.
If you look up the behind the scenes on youtube, the punch where Mike Tyson hits the punching bag behind Donnie Yen sounds like a gunshot in the raw footage. They had to cut that take because Donnie Yen looked like he had a minor heart attack at the punch he was supposed to dodge for the filming. It's one thing to watch Mike Tyson fight on TV, but its probably a whole other story to have to do fight choreography with him. In another BTS interview Mike and Donnie joke over how if one of them had messed up the order of the fight choreography, one of them could've gotten severely injured. They were pretty scared of each other's capabilities lol

To see and hear the amount of respect they gave each other when working on this scene was astounding. People just think Mike is a big, dumb boxer...but he is so much more than people give him credit for.
In a real fight Tyson wouldn't get a hit like that on Donnie. Donnie is the greatest fighter on earth in real life.

Mike was the only fighter in the series who genuinely whooped his ass in a fair fight, easily his strongest opponent.

i love these scenes from a storytelling point of view, they build up both fighters even when one loses.
I love how they give Mike Tyson a ton of respect, writing his character to be the only one that Ip Man legitimately has trouble against in a fight.
He fought to a draw Sammo Hung (IP2), Wu Yue (IP4). And all of the final bosses gave him "trouble".

I think no martial arts or any combat sport (like jujutsu , karate , kung fu , Muay Thai etc) is superior to other , it's the person's individual ability matters . It's not the sword that matters it's swordsman .

That is actually true. The human body has a number of anatomic ''weak spots'', like the knee, eyes, throat, kidney,liver, groin, eardrums etc. When you get injured there it's basically ''game over'', no matter how big or skilled you're.

Amazing fight I freaking love Mike only downside about this fighting scene is his grunts and sounds is it the dubbed version ? Doesn't sound like him at all.
If you pay close attention, you can hear that the video sounds sped up a little bit. I am assuming for copyright reasons.

While filming the scene Mike broke his finger (I believe), the part where Donnie was using his elbows to deflect Mike’s punch’s…but the most amusing part was when Donnie said they were going back and forth and the part of the fight where Mike swings but hits the heavy bag instead…Donnie said at one point they did the scene and Mike swung and he baaaarely missed Donnie…Donnie said he not only felt the air caused by the punch, but that It flipped his hair too!!!😳😳😳😁😁😁

I like the way they portrayed how much impact caused with each landed punch from Tyson. I feel like in reality if you take couple of those directly you are pretty much toast.
With respect to martial artists, I think no way to beat Mike. Mike is just too humble to play such role.

Tyson is a powerhouse even in his 50s. Amazing to actually see it again. Superb fitness. Though, Donnie Yen is very good martial art fighter, there's no way he would last long against those powerful punches. They made it up for this movie.
