  • 2014 Motorcycle Leather Jacket Buying Guide www.revzilla.co... Our 2014 Leather Motorcycle Jacket buying guide is split into 2 categories, technical, sport cut jackets will make up the first category while the second category will be comprised of more casual leather, aimed at the Cafe and V-Twin contingent.
    Starting off category one will be Speed & Strength's Top Dead Center Jacket. A fully perforated, relaxed cut, leather jacket aimed at the stunt crown and coming in at an entry level price. The Dainese Laguna EVO and the Alpinestars Jaws Perforated jackets will be your next stop in the 2014 lineup. While both feature a more relaxed sport cut, the Laguna EVO will come with a removable, full sleeved thermal liner and the Jaws will feature a thermal vest allowing you to stretch these options into the cooler months. The Alpinestars Celer is your gateway drug to a full on track day with an aggressive race cut, sliders on the shoulders and elbow as well as a sport hump. Rounding out the top of the food chain for the technical category will be the Alpinestars Black Shadow Phantom and Dainese's Super Speed C2. Both of these jackets are essentially the top half of a race suit with an aggressive cut and speed humps.
    Starting off the Second Category of casual leather options is the River Road Hoodlum jacket. This entry level jacket comes with no protective armor but does have plenty of venting as well as a removable full-sleeved thermal liner making it a great all-season option. The Rev'It! Roamer is going to have a full-sleeved thermal liner along with armor at both the shoulders and elbow for whatever the road throws your way. Roland Sands has two jackets which made it into our buying guide for 2014. The all new City jacket is a classicly styled, American cut jacket featuring premium rifle leather. The Roland Sand Ronin is the reigning champion from last year and refuses to be dethroned in '14. With it's sport/cafe fit and premium airborne leather it will go great with almost any bike in your garage. Armor for both Roland Sands jackets is sold in a separate kit.
    No matter what your style, we will have a jacket to perfectly match your ride.

    Steve Pierson It's a two season jacket for the Allentown area (late-spring to early-fall). It should take you into the low 60s comfortably. -Hi-Viz Brian

    National Beauty, I don't think so. Occasionally, I'll used my North Face backpack with my race suit. It works just fine if you properly adjust your backpack's straps. -Hi-Viz Brian

      Looking for some advise please. Bought a jacket much like the Alpine stars black shadow. Fit is fine. Right at the belt line and everything. Crouched on the bike its fine in the front. Doesn't crunch up and the like. But at the back I feel it sits too high. The lower part of my back is open. About 3 inches. This is while riding with normal jeans. Is this normal or not?
      First jacket so I'm not sure.

      are motorcycle jackets not supposed to go to your waist,Idk why these look short.. I'm 6 foot 5 and don't want it going to my belly button

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  9 років тому

      +Marcus Burrell Most motorcycle jackets sit right above the belt and are a bit longer in the back, so that the jacket doesn't bunch in the front when seated on the bike but the drop tail still covers your back. If you have a long inseam (35 or 36 inches), your torso is likely pretty standard height. Regardless, I'd recommend looking at "tall size" jackets. -DrewZilla

      +Marcus Burrell No, not at all...as long as you're also wearing proper riding pants or riding jeans, gloves, helmet, and boots. The Black Shadow Phantom is a great jacket. -DrewZilla

    So if I'm really stubborn, can I ride with a sport leather jacket in heavy rain? Because I'm one of those riders who ride all the year and a 4 season jacket doesn't look as good.
    An answer will be appreciated. - Nir

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  4 роки тому

      Sure, yes, but it will get really heavy as it gets soaked. Once soaked, it will also feel really cold, which isn't good for your body temperature. Extended exposure to water can also damage leather. If you like leather, then I recommend you get a rain jacket to wear over the leather jacket when it rains. -DrewZilla

    How is the Roland Sands Ronin as a 3 season (spring, summer, fall) jacket? I'm in the Allentown area and typically ride into the fall. I'm mostly concerned with those chilly 40F fall mornings, is this jacket insulated enough on it's own or will I need and under layer for further insulation?

    I cant decide which is the best every day sport jacket for 3 seasons. Ive got a hardcore 1pc race suit for racing and a textile jacket for 5°C and below. My candidates are jaws, avro and maybe the celer (best looking, most technical but i'd have to put the hump out quite often). What do you think?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  10 років тому

      I'd go with the Avro for two reasons.
      1. The Avro doesn't have exposed seems on the shoulders and has aluminum shoulder protectors. I've tested the shoulder protectors on my Super Speed jacket and I am glad they were there. Feel free to email me at cs@revzilla.com for crash pictures.
      2. Full sleeve thermal liner.

    Anthony, Hi-Viz, hello guys. I'm a new subscriber, first time viewing the site and video(both a+ by the way). I was curious if either of you have any suggestions about perf jackets for a bigger individual. I'm 6'2 240, and I ride a R-1. I see that most of the gentlemen modeling the items are all medium built individuals. Just curious if you had any suggestions. I would much prefer to purchase my entire 2014 gear from one site vs jumping around. Thanks in advance.

    I see the guys in size 52 for the jackets but in some of the older videos they are size 50 in the one piece suits. Is it because you want a tighter fit for the one piece over a jacket?

      It may not have been you or Raf. I have gone back to some of the other videos and can not find what I remember haha. You guys have too many videos. But I do remember it was with the Dainese suits. Although they may not have been as large in the chest area. Which is why they would be a size down.

    Hey guys, quick question about the S&S Top Dead Center jacket. Would it be a good choice for daily commuting on a 250cc, or is it better suited for the crotch rocket crowd? I'm looking for a balanced armored jacket of a 3 season type that won't break the bank. Suggestions? Thanks and great video as usual!

      RevZilla Thanks for the reply. I'm thinking 4 season but I'd like to know what's out there, can't find anything with a search. Best I can come up with is something like a Fox Titan armor and a Fly Patrol shell jacket over it. I would be riding in all temperatures and it's adventure off-roading I do.

    Unable to decide on a jacket to go with my V-Rod, especially with its 'C' like posture. Don't want the jacket to bulge in my chest/stomach area. Would like to have protection/armor. Any suggestions?

    RevZilla Does the hump on a leather jacket add more protection (mainly for street) or does it have other purposes ?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  9 років тому

      Rabih Younes It adds a bit of protection in the sense that if you land on your back, the speed hump hits before your helmet, which is better. In a full tuck riding position, the speed hump does help to smooth air coming off your helmet and down your back. -DrewZilla

    • @RevZilla

      No, it's a Euro size 52, which is about 41-42 inches. Euro sizing is generally chest width in cm (half the circumference). -DrewZilla
