I'm shocked to see this kind of technology in a headset! This is incredible! I don't even group ride but I want one! :-) This is a great comprehensive overview. Thanks for taking the time to make such a great detailed video!
Hi Anthony, I like you frank opinions on all products you review. Especially, the point on this unit being water resistant. Keep up with the good work. 👍
+Don Post What you're referring to is called Multi-Way Intercom or Group Intercom, and the Sena 20S does allow this. A total of eight 20S users can have a group intercom or "party line" simultaneously (you and seven other 20S users). This can be set up directly through the communicators or via Sena's companion smartphone app. On a side note, the Sena SMH10 actually allows this as well for up to four people (you and three others). See section 15 of the 20S manual and sections 14 and 15 of the SMH10 manual. -DrewZilla *www.sena.com/support/documents/
RevZilla Hey, with the group intercom function, can I use this to connect other models as well? Say, Sena SMH10R, Uclear HBC 200 as well as a Sena 20s all at the same time?
+Thang Tran For group intercom of 8 users, all devices must be the 20S. With other Sena communicators, the total number of users in a group intercom is 4 (you + 3 others). The 20S also features "universal intercom pairing" for one non-Sena communicator, so in a group intercom, you could have a 20S, a UCLEAR HBC200, and two other Sena devices. -DrewZilla
you know what would be nice to add to communication device reviews? A decibel meter reading. It would help buyers understand how loud the speakers are. You of course will need a control; a sound anyone can compare like sending a signal to the speakers and play the same on an phone to test loudness is it louder or quieter than the phone or something to that degree.
+Klaus Nettesheim Since coming out over a year ago, Sena has improved the latch mechanism for more security and has improved the user experience through firmware updates, so I'd take those early reviews with a grain of salt. -DrewZilla
Currently using my first Sena product : SMH5 Love it, not too big not to small, good qaulity and very easy to use with the jogdial. Getting the speakers into my current helmet: AGV K3 Was a bit of trick, since there are no places build in, to put speakers. And there is very little room in it. After a bit of a try i was able to put the speakers behind the cheekpads. Probably not the best fix but it works. Maybe the only thing i can do is make a small recess in the cheekpads, but thats something to try for later. I'm pretty sure ill be sticking with Sena for a different Bluetooth system, great products.
I like the features the 20S has but when looking at the reviews on Amazon a full third of the reviews are 3 stars or less. Many of the complaints are about it being flimsy. Is this accurate or just naysayers being negative?
My wife got me this for Christmas/Birthday. I've mounted it on my half helmet and it's great. I can not only hear my music, but everything around me. The ambient mode on this is great and it paired easily with my iPod and iPhone 6. Now I need to get another mounting set up for my HJC C17. Your video is what made me choose your store to have her purchase my head set
does the 20 offer conference calls? for example on the sena 10's you had to push the knob 1 to talk to rider 1, twice to talk to rider 2, 3 for rider 3.... kinda annoying when riding in a group. so does the 20 have a "party line" where the link is open for all riders and no need to identify a rider by button pushing. yelling out HEY BOB! would be a lot more fun
I just recently bought the 20s and I love it. The only complaint that I have is when I am listening to music on a comfortable level. When an incoming phone calls come in or I use my phones' voice feature it is turned all the way up. I have talked to Sena and was told that my phone audio was to loud. But I adjusted my phone volume and it did not make a difference.
Anthony Liguigli I have the same problem. it is unbearably loud at times. If you click to make a phone call...especially when the phone beeps or talks back to you. Also, voice recognition barely works....
Rubos005 They should work well together. I recommend using the hybrid boom rather than the fixed boom. That way, you can mount the hybrid boom inside the helmet behind the left cheek pad and have more flexibility on where to position the main communicator clamp on the left side of the helmet. Hope this helps! -DrewZilla
Will the 20S work well with the 2015 Harley blu-tooth system on the touring models? If so, is this still the best way to go with the Harley application? I use a full face helmet. Thanks for the info in advance. Keep up the GREAT videos.
I love your reviews, and I also have become a Revzilla customer as of recent assistance from one of your guys on the phone. Suggestion, the guy that models your gear.... maybe smile? he kinda looks miserable like you are forcing him to do it :p
Now from an end user's point of view. I bought 2 10S dual packs, both new. The documentation was in many languages, but not English. I got the devices to power on, and they receive static PERFECTLY. That's it. The web site was no help. I repeatedly tried to contact support. They are apparently unable to communicate in English. I tried emailing support. No response. I did reach them through social media. They referred me to their web site, and sent me documentation that has no bearing on the 10S. Supposedly, these come pre-paired. These did not. Even the radio won't turn on. These were purchased through different dealers on different dates. Among the items missing from the box are the adhesive pads and the wrench. The speakers will not stick to my helmets. Worse yet, the clips do not hold the units in place. Even when clipped into place, they fall out with a gentle shake of the helmet. This isn't just one. All 4 exhibit these issues. Wednesday will be 2 weeks I've been trying to get support from sena. I am forced to return these expensive paperweights.
"Rider to rider up to 8 connections, we've never seen this done before". Yes, you have: The Scala Rider G9x. Also, you used to be all over the Cardo products a couple months ago ("2014 Motorcycle Bluetooth Communicator Buying Guide"). So, what happened?
João Soares Cha cha cha cha changes......The G9X can pair up to 8 riders singly, but only 4 riders as a group chat. The 20S can do up to 8 in a group chat, although that would be chaos (IMO). -Hi-Viz Brian * david bowie - changes
RevZilla What about the appalling reviews this is getting on your website? Do you agree with the problems pointed by the buyers or is this really the best thing since sliced bread?
João Soares We think it has great potential, but with many things, the first generation has a few quirks that need to be addressed. Sena is actively working to address the quirks. Below is a great thread on the 20S. -Hi-Viz Brian * advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=993790
I think I am basically sold. Just one clarifying question. I think you touched on it, just want to make sure I understand correctly. I want the senaS20 to listen to music but occasionally be able to talk to my partner rider if needed. My understanding is that you can do that with this product. If I have music playing, is it similar to a cars navigation lowering the music while the other person speaks to you? Do they also hear the music you are playing? Does it mute you while you are listening to music or is the boom mic always on? This is important, because no one needs to hear me singing along as I ride! LOL But I would like to be able to speak to someone if I need to... ;) thx
MissDrift2008 Yes, you can listen to music as well as have an intercom conversation with a riding partner. The Sena 20S is currently the only communicator with audio multitasking. That means instead of the music pausing and cutting out when having an intercom conversation, the music will continue to play quietly in the background while on intercom. The riding partner will not hear your music, only the conversation. As for the microphone, it is only on when on a phone call or during an intercom conversation. Just remember to end the intercom conversation by tapping the side jog dial before singing along with the tunes! -DrewZilla
Awesome-awesome @Drewzilla , what earbuds do you recommend and if I want to get helmet do you have any suggestions in the $200 and below price range? If not do you recommend any other helmet?
Rubos005 You mentioned you just decided on the IS-Max, so the speakers should be fine, but if you're still interested in going the earbud route, take a look at the following articles. -DrewZilla *thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-headphones-under-40/ *thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-exercise-headphones/
Your reviews are really helpful. I almost always watch reviews from you before I buy anything motorcycle related. One question though, do the speakers from this fit in the cutout for the new Aria Defiant Pro-Cruise? Thanks!
Jim B While CB compatibility isn't built-in, you can use a Sena SR10 to create a CB/Bluetooth interface. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-sr10-bluetooth-two-way-radio-adapter
RevZilla Will it work with the Goldwing CB? I have had the Nolan n-102 with bluetooth and it worked fine but I wanted unit I could change to different helmet... I was disappointed when I found out I could not use my Goldwing CB with the Sena 20S. Hopefully the Sena SR!0 will make that possible.
Jim B The Sena SR10 is intended for aftermarket handheld radios/CBs, so it's not guaranteed to work with your onboard CB. I've heard of some GW riders making their own system to interface the GW CB with a Sena. You may have to do some Googling. -DrewZilla
Pj Mac While the larger speakers of the 20S improve sound quality, they are a little big to fit down into the speaker recesses in the GT-Air. However, you can use the Velcro spacers included with the 20S to take up some space in the recesses, which bring the speakers a little closer to your ears for better attenuation. You can also leave the stock Shoei ear pads in place and attach the 20S speakers directly to the ear pads. -DrewZilla
I'm sure I missed this, but I'll ask anyway: if you pair rider to rider and you come out of range between the riders is there auto reconnect? Great review!!
+Philip Brumby Yes, absolutely! The two communicators will attempt to reconnect every few seconds until the connection is made again...or until you cancel the auto-reconnect. -DrewZilla
+Fabio Patta No, it's not fully waterproof, but it's heavily water-resistant. For a waterproof option, consider the Cardo PackTalk. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/cardo-packtalk-headset
+RevZilla now it's to late... already order one.. so no music under heavy rain .... ahhh... but I hope I can use it in light one. I rode till now without intercom... I can still do it..
Looking to buy my first communicator. I want to use it for rider to pillion. And may be rider to rider, if my mates but one of their own Also to use my iPhone for calls, music and sat nav. Will the Sena 20S fit the bill. Cheers.
+Jason Meyers Yes, the 20S would be a good option for you. It does rider to passenger, rider to rider, and even has universal intercom, so that you can connect to one Bluetooth communicator from another brand. -DrewZilla
Does that mean you can actually have all 8 talk at the same time to each other? Like a conference call? Has sometime tried this? Please comment... I'm looking to get this for myself and a friend.
Yeah its possible, up to 8 total riders in conference mode. Plenty of people have tried and shown it works since this BT unit has been out for around 6-7 years.
The 20S comes with a boom mic and small wired button microphone, though the boom has the best quality. In my experience, they don't really get in the way. -DrewZilla
Ok this may sound like a silly question. But here it goes. I am looking for a good communicator for my husband and I and so far am sold on this delightful little goody. However here is my problem. I have an iphone where my husband still runs a non-smart phone device that looks like something from the dinosaur era. LOL. Ok maybe not quite that old, but needless to say it is not a smart phone. The small amount of research that I have done tells me that this won't be a problem as I can set up both devices from my phone, however what are your thoughts on this?
For intercom communication, the 20S doesn't even require a phone at all. If all your husband needs is to be able to talk to you, he could have no phone at all. For you, you can pair your iPhone to your communicator, in order to stream music or make/take phone calls. -DrewZilla
The Rogue isn't ideal for the 20S or even most communicators honestly. Because of the shape of the shell, there's no good way to attach a communicator or mount a microphone boom. If communication is important to you, I'd recommend he get a helmet to use when you ride together. The Biltwell Gringo is a popular option with a cool retro look that can accept the 20S or other communicators. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/biltwell-gringo-helmets
I find that Sena tends to have better value for money across their entire range. Right now, I think the best option long-term is the Sena SMH10R. It's low-profile, weather-resistant, and has an external battery that can be hot-swapped for long distance touring and can be replaced if the total capacity drops after a couple years. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-smh10r-bluetooth-headset
So what year and month was the 20S introduced. With this being the tail end of 2016, they might have a new model coming out with improvements that I might wait for.
It was introduced when we released the video, which was September 2014. However, there probably won't be an update for at least another 1-2 years. It still offers more features than many other communicators. -DrewZilla
+Chris Bleam Yes, it can be mounted on a half helmet. We don't have a photo of the 20S on a half helmet, but it will look almost identical to this SMH10 mounted on a half helmet. If your half helmet has speaker pockets, you can use the included helmet speakers. If your half helmet leaves your ears exposed, you can disconnect the helmet speakers and connect earbuds to the 20S' standard audio jack. -DrewZilla *www.sena.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/SMH10_HJC-CL-2.jpg
I see Sena has a new product "Sena 20S Helmet Clamp Kit for CB/Audio of Harley-Davidson". Do you guys think you might do a youtube info video on this product?
Are these supposed to replace chatterbox? But chatterbox you can talk to unlimited people with the walkie talkie feature right? It also has Bluetooth and you can stream your music and navigation, And this thing u can only chat with 8 people tops right? Just trying to collect information here Thank you
jxroc85 The 20S is from Sena. The Chatterbox is from HJC. Give our Gear Geeks a call at 1-877-792-9455 for help finding a unit that will meet the demands of your riding style. -Hi-Viz Brian * 1-877-792-9455 * cs@revzilla.com
leighsa49 I personally like the 20S better because of its ability to pair with non-Sena Bluetooth units. What features are you most excited about? -Hi-Viz Brian
Two things. First. I mainly want it for blue tooth music from my iPhone, battery life, and to make calls. Is the volume/clarity any better on this than the 10 series? Secondly, what is the difference between the 20S-01 and the 20S-02?
The 20S and 10S/10R use the same speakers, so audio quality is similar. As for the -01 and -02, -01 has standard speakers while the -02 has slim speakers. The standard speakers are better than the slim speakers. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-20s-bluetooth-headset *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-20s-bluetooth-headset-with-slim-speakers
How is the audio quality of the speakers? Is there sufficient bass? I currently wear earbuds and would wear earplugs with the speakers to keep wind noise in my helmet down. Will the speakers get loud enough to still be able to enjoy the music?
They aren't studio-quality, but the 20S has a standard audio jack, so you can swap the stock speakers for sound-isolating molded earbuds or larger speakers. The Koss KTXPRO1 headphone speakers (removed from the headphone housing) are a popular swap. -DrewZilla
I have a BMW K1600GTL with the stereo and bluetooth support. Do you know how well the 20S works with this system? Will I be able to control the radio volume via the bike controls? Also, will it pair correctly so that I can have a rider and passenger paired through the bike?
DucStewie BMW doesn't officially support the Sena 20S, so Sena cannot guarantee full compatibility. Some have been able to connect a single 20S to the bike, but you lose volume control through the grip. Also, you cannot pair both rider and passenger to the bike. Only one can connect, and as it's not fully compatible, sometimes it will randomly disconnect. BMW designed the bike to only work with their own BMW Headset, so that's the only one that's fully compatible. -DrewZilla
Hey guys! Q: is sena 20s Agv K3-SV friendly? We know that k3-sv have a slightly diferent shape (even the donut). Have anyone of you problems installing 20s to K3-SV? Thank you :) btw: really great communicator, Im about to order one, just have doubts about the compatibility i described
EddyWebber The K3 SV is communication-ready and features speaker pocket cut outs to minimize discomfort caused by Bluetooth speakers pressing into your ears. -Hi-Viz Brian
i bought a pair of these and one of them has always had a short battery life. i decided to look into the problem and it sounds like a big problem! and they are not replaceable! way too expensive for a poorly built product. thought i would try and let people know
I bought the Sena 10S and unfortunately it does not pair with my phone...Which I have all my music on...So, I can't use it until they get the software upgraded.
Dude, fantastic review as always, but PLEASE pronounce the brand name correctly!!! Sena doesn't have a hard E like eat and be. The E is soft like mend or trend.
I want the S20 Bluetooth, and this will be my first helmet comm device; is this specific to certain helmets or will it fit any helmet including my "Skid Lid" half helmet?
Rubos005 The Sena 20S is better suited to full face, modular, and 3/4 helmets. If you have a very low profile "skid lid" half helmet, you may be able to mount the communicator, but you would likely need to unplug the speakers and use earbuds instead. -DrewZilla
I have an $800 Arai helmet that - before I installed my new Sena 20S - was comfortable to put on and comfortable to take off. Now, with the Sena 20S installed below my left ear, my helmet is NOT comfortable to take on and off.
That might get better in time. You could also try moving the communicator clamp slightly rearward on the helmet to see if that improves the fit. -DrewZilla
One other problem is that the Sena volume control is having to compete with wind noise on top of (Ducati Panigale) engine noise AND my use of earplugs. You can only turn up the Sena sound volume so much, and it seems like Sena's volume range is too low to compete.
What is battery life suppose to be? OR what is everyone seeing playing music? I am only getting like 1 hour (maybe a few minutes more) of battery life before it shuts down. Not good for a long range trip.
2 questions: can my sena 20S be connected to a USB on my softail deluxe in the event my phone battery goes dead? As a backup plan. Next, we lock our helmets to our bikes and take the sena module with us, im worried about theft. do i have to pair them again when attaching them back on our helmets?
I'm not sure I understand the first part. For intercom use with another 20S, your cell phone is not necessary. Your phone is only necessary if you're streaming music to the 20S or making a phone call via the 20S. If you're asking whether you can use the 20S to listen to music stored on a USB flash drive, then the answer is no. If you're asking whether you can charge the 20S via a USB cable plugged into your motorcycle, then the answer is yes. As for re-pairing, no, you do not need to re-pair the communicators after removing them from your helmets. -DrewZilla
Thank you. My sena sad low battery and i knew my phone was low and died. I wasnt sure if i should have still been paired to my husband sena that we were usingduring our poker run. So we went without. Otherwise we are highly satisfied with them. Still just learning how to use.
So, if you use Apple Ear Pods, what is used as an antenna for the radio? Do you lose the radio stations since you have no antenna? Also wanted to know what the extra bracket with the 3M tape is for?
By ear pods, do you mean in-ear headphones with a standard 3.5mm plug? If so, the headphone cord acts as the antenna. If you are referring to the wireless Air Pods, then those cannot be used with this or any Bluetooth communicator. Additionally, if your Apple headphones use a Lightning connector, those are also incompatible. Generally speaking, it's best to just use the included speakers. As for the extra bracket, that is used if your helmet cannot accept the standard clamp mount. In that case, you use the adhesive to attach the mount to the side of the helmet. -DrewZilla
While it isn't waterproof to the point of being submersible, it is heavily water-resistant. Many of us here use the 20S while riding in the rain. If you want something rated IP67 waterproof, consider the Cardo PackTalk and SmartPack communicators. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/cardo-packtalk-headset *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/cardo-smartpack-headset
how fragile is that antenna? Does the antenna increase range only? can i use it in a pack ride that doesnt require long range while the antenna is down?
Daniel Davis The antenna increases range only. If you are close together, you don't necessarily need to have the antenna opened up. Many find it easier to leave it open all the time though. -DrewZilla
Do they sell the speakers separately if for some reason one of the speakers dies out on you? Thats one thing i absolutely hate about my Scala unit. Every scala i've owned has had one of the speakers die out and they cant be replaced easily without soldering in something new or buying a new base.
davidkbrown The 20S does not include in-ear earbuds, but it includes the helmet speakers. The included speakers will fit in the X-12, but the comfort really depends on the shape of your ears and how far they stick out. They'd likely touch your ears a bit. -DrewZilla
Josh Armour I think the quality is quite good with good quality ear buds, but it's also pretty subjective. Using good sealing ear buds allows you to keep the volume lower for less distortion. -DrewZilla
If you plug earbuds into the device, will it mute the ear-speakers? Im asking because im thinking of using a 3.5mm male-male cable to connect the sena to a gopro's mic input, so that all the communication between riders can be recorded directly into the gopro video too.
+NinjasAndTeles Yes, if you plug a cable into the audio jack, it mutes the speakers. However, if you were to use a standard Y-splitter cable, you could plug the splitter cable into the audio jack, then plug both the speakers and the male-male cable into the splitter. That adds a lot of wires though. -DrewZilla
Robert Smyth ask if the SENA SMH20S was compatible with the 2015 Harley-Davidson Touring models that have the Boom 6.5 or 4.3 audio system. His question is the same as my question. Do you have an answer? Thanks.
Thank you for reaching out, Richard Kress! The Sena 20S is not compatible unless you use the SM10 to plug into the DIN port to stream audio. -Hi-Viz Brian * www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-sm10-dual-stream-bluetooth-stereo-transmitter
how can i record audio from a drift hd camera using this device's mic?. Or i just need to use 2 microphones?, one for the bluetooth and one ext. mic for the drift?. Thanks.
Which headset has the best sound for music. I'm looking for a new helmet and have been watching reviews on helmets and Bluetooths. I'm loving the Aria XD4 but the reviews on that helmet people bitch about the shield curve view isn't 100% clear.
+roger jensen We find the Sena 20S, 10S, and 10R have the best sound quality, but you also should consider helmet noise. The Arai isn't that quiet, and not everyone likes the shield. Instead, you may want to consider the Shoei Hornet X2, as it's quieter and has a better face shield. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-20s-bluetooth-headset *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-10s-bluetooth-headset *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-10r-low-profile-motorcycle-bluetooth-headset *www.revzilla.com/shoei-hornet-x2-helmets
Are any of you using ear plugs (foam) with this? I'd like to save my ears (long-term) from wind noise, but want to listen to music (mostly) and maybe a call or so (brief though so I can focus on riding). The ear plugs I use don't block out the world, I can still hear plenty good, they just take the edge off of the wind noise. Or is everyone using these riding without ear protection?
+Michael Bennett Most of us here at RevZilla use Bluetooth communicators with earplugs. Intercom conversations and music are still clear, though of course the sound does change a little bit. The key is to make sure the speakers are sitting as close to your ears as is comfortable. -DrewZilla
+RevZilla Thanks again. I notice it comes with a lot of speaker foam options. If you used a lot of foam to reduce the gap from ear to speaker, to zero (and then some more--compressed), would that reduce air noise, or you really need plugs to protect ones ears? Just thinking about different options. I did meet someone on a group ride today that has the SMH10. He says he never wears plugs--which of course I would say is not good. Just wondering if I were to load up on foam that it would be pressed tight against my ear, that it would be as good as ear plugs. Thanks!
Anthony, I hope they're paying you millions of dollars, you're worth it dude. Once again you explained everything I need to know about a product. Thanks.
ddemier Sena and Cardo are two of the best Bluetooth headset manufactures on the market. The Sena 20S and Cardo G9x are each brand's top model. They both have excellent audio quality for Bluetooth headsets. The better your helmet fits and seals out air/wind/noise, the better the speakers will sound. I do like the fact that the Sena 20S is able to communicate with non-Sena Bluetooth units. -Hi-Viz Brian * senabluetooth.com/universal_intercom/
I recommend the 20S Evo, since the new antenna design is more durable and reliable the previous iteration. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-20s-evo-bluetooth-headset
Is it difficult to raise/lower the antennae on your Sena 20S with gloves on? What about with Winter gloves on? Is the antennae flimsy when it’s up like it could break off?
It can be a little trickier with thick gloves, but it's still doable. The antenna is a bit delicate, but it won't break off that easily. It's up and out of the way. -DrewZilla
We should have a review coming soon. In the meantime, I recommend making sure you've updated the onboard firmware to the latest version via the Sena software. -DrewZilla
I can't seem to find the answer I am looking for. Do you use the speakers with foam earbuds in, and the speakers are loud enough to hear in that situation? There's no way I am riding without earplugs in to seal out damaging wind noise. Thanks.
HI IAM VERY OLD SCHOOL. I FLY A PARAMOTOR AND USE A RADIO TO TO TALK TO OTHER PILOTS. IF I CHOOSE THIS WILL EVERYTHING BE FAR BETTER? CLEAR HEARING MESSAGES. ETC. AND WOULD THIS BE A UPGRADE TO WHAT I HAVE AT THE MOMENT.
I am eagerly waiting for the fixed version to be available mainstream. be careful with this product, the little plastic tongue that holds the base unit safe in the clamp/cradle, sitting solid on the connector pins gives way, breaks and is just poorly designed in the first iteration of this product. Sena started shipping out fixed versions with metal tongue instead of plastic around late February. If you have one with plastic tongue know that it will break.
Hello! I was wondering if the Sena will ''read' out' who is calling me? Exempel: When my dad is calling, does it say ''incoming call from 'Dad' '', or something like that? Thanks!
So, if the speaker wires are also the FM antenna, what happens if you unplug the speakers because you only want to use the ear bud jack? I was planning to use upgraded speakers plugged into that jack.
I really like how you keep the videos rolling at a fast pace. More info in less time= me sticking around :)
I'm shocked to see this kind of technology in a headset! This is incredible! I don't even group ride but I want one! :-) This is a great comprehensive overview. Thanks for taking the time to make such a great detailed video!

Perhaps you should switch to decaf...
RevZilla Hey, with the group intercom function, can I use this to connect other models as well? Say, Sena SMH10R, Uclear HBC 200 as well as a Sena 20s all at the same time?
+Thang Tran good question
+Thang Tran For group intercom of 8 users, all devices must be the 20S. With other Sena communicators, the total number of users in a group intercom is 4 (you + 3 others). The 20S also features "universal intercom pairing" for one non-Sena communicator, so in a group intercom, you could have a 20S, a UCLEAR HBC200, and two other Sena devices. -DrewZilla

You of course will need a control; a sound anyone can compare like sending a signal to the speakers and play the same on an phone to test loudness is it louder or quieter than the phone or something to that degree.
Looks pretty badass only complaint I have is that the base is too big. If I didn't already have the Q3 I'd totally buy this.

Currently using my first Sena product : SMH5
Love it, not too big not to small, good qaulity and very easy to use with the jogdial.
Getting the speakers into my current helmet: AGV K3
Was a bit of trick, since there are no places build in, to put speakers.

Best product review video I've ever seen. Super informative! Ordering one now!
What the hell did you say in the first 5 seconds???
SV650Dude "Hey, this is Anthony with RevZillaTV, where you can watch, decide, and ride!" -DrewZilla
RevZilla Haha, I heard, "Hey, this is Anthony threvsol ziw wi watch, decide and ride."
SV650Dude Haha yeah, listen to it a few thousand times and you'll have it down! :P -DrewZilla
That's the first thing I thought when I started the video
HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I just recently bought the 20s and I love it. The only complaint that I have is when I am listening to music on a comfortable level. When an incoming phone calls come in or I use my phones' voice feature it is turned all the way up. I have talked to Sena and was told that my phone audio was to loud. But I adjusted my phone volume and it did not make a difference.
Anthony Liguigli I have the same problem. it is unbearably loud at times. If you click to make a phone call...especially when the phone beeps or talks back to you. Also, voice recognition barely works....
Great review! Really helped an old time biker - who is new to the helmet game.
Just ordered it, along with an HJC IS Max , hope they go together well
Rubos005 They should work well together. I recommend using the hybrid boom rather than the fixed boom. That way, you can mount the hybrid boom inside the helmet behind the left cheek pad and have more flexibility on where to position the main communicator clamp on the left side of the helmet. Hope this helps! -DrewZilla
Anthony sure loves that shirt
LOL!
Will the 20S work well with the 2015 Harley blu-tooth system on the touring models? If so, is this still the best way to go with the Harley application? I use a full face helmet. Thanks for the info in advance. Keep up the GREAT videos.
Sold! Thanks for the awesome review brah.
I love your reviews, and I also have become a Revzilla customer as of recent assistance from one of your guys on the phone. Suggestion, the guy that models your gear.... maybe smile? he kinda looks miserable like you are forcing him to do it :p
If Billy Mays had a kid.. this guy would be it!
Didn't Billy May's die from a cocaine overdose? Maybe he accidentally snorted oxiclean. "BILLY MAYS HERE" R.I.P
-Hi-Viz Brian
* david bowie - changes
-Hi-Viz Brian

-DrewZilla
thank you! I'm SOLD!
I bought the Sena 10C for the camera. It is stupid complicated, and doesn't let you see what you are filming.
Really looks like they can do a lot of this with a firmware update to the SMH10r....
-DrewZilla

Your reviews are really helpful. I almost always watch reviews from you before I buy anything motorcycle related. One question though, do the speakers from this fit in the cutout for the new Aria Defiant Pro-Cruise? Thanks!
Kenan Bakin Yes, they fit. You can also mount them directly to the cheek pad base. -DrewZilla
I bought the pair and they work great! My only wish is that it would somehow work with a CB radio!
Jim B While CB compatibility isn't built-in, you can use a Sena SR10 to create a CB/Bluetooth interface. -DrewZilla
*www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-sr10-bluetooth-two-way-radio-adapter
-DrewZilla
I understood every word...funny DJ talk in the beginning...love it!
Great review - thanks! Do you know whether the 20S will connect with the BMW communications system?
Yes, it can connect to the BMW system, but you have limited functionality with the handlebar scroll wheel. -DrewZilla
just wondering, do the speakers fit into the speaker cut-outs of the shoei gt air helmet? thanks and awesome review
-DrewZilla
Excellent
hi guys.. amazing review... but I got a question.. it's waterproof?
+Fabio Patta No, it's not fully waterproof, but it's heavily water-resistant. For a waterproof option, consider the Cardo PackTalk. -DrewZilla

-DrewZilla
Great review ! Very detailed and informative. I'm very interested by this product, would you recommend it with a Shark S700-S ?
***** It's doable, but the S700 doesn't have cutouts for speakers, so they'd be awfully close to your ears. Might be a little uncomfortable. -Kraus-e
Can you and your passenger both listen to music together? (Given we both have a unit on the helmet) So can your passenger hear what you hear?
Can you put up a pic of that bracelet? Is it silver? Looks cool, where can i get one of those?
Does that mean you can actually have all 8 talk at the same time to each other? Like a conference call? Has sometime tried this? Please comment... I'm looking to get this for myself and a friend.
Yeah its possible, up to 8 total riders in conference mode. Plenty of people have tried and shown it works since this BT unit has been out for around 6-7 years.
The boom Mike seems like it would get in the way does Sena come with boom less without compromising voice quality
The 20S comes with a boom mic and small wired button microphone, though the boom has the best quality. In my experience, they don't really get in the way. -DrewZilla
So you want to tell me we keep SPACE out of the SPACESTATION with 2 rubber o rings and they cant keep water out by something that spins too

-DrewZilla
This is great news! Thank you. One more question. He wears the bell rogue. His concern is helmet fit with this device and the mic. Any input?
The Rogue isn't ideal for the 20S or even most communicators honestly. Because of the shape of the shell, there's no good way to attach a communicator or mount a microphone boom. If communication is important to you, I'd recommend he get a helmet to use when you ride together. The Biltwell Gringo is a popular option with a cool retro look that can accept the 20S or other communicators. -DrewZilla

As always, thank you for the review. I have the afx fx 41 helmet and I just got the 20s. My helmet is too think to mount the headset. Any suggestions?
any sena model vs u-clear..
who the best?
value for money
long term batteries
durable
I find that Sena tends to have better value for money across their entire range. Right now, I think the best option long-term is the Sena SMH10R. It's low-profile, weather-resistant, and has an external battery that can be hot-swapped for long distance touring and can be replaced if the total capacity drops after a couple years. -DrewZilla

RevZilla now i use shark evoline helmet,
This model is consistent with my helmet and how much it costs if I want to buy and heading to Malaysia?
So what year and month was the 20S introduced. With this being the tail end of 2016, they might have a new model coming out with improvements that I might wait for.
It was introduced when we released the video, which was September 2014. However, there probably won't be an update for at least another 1-2 years. It still offers more features than many other communicators. -DrewZilla
I take it that this can be mounted on a half helmet too. Would be nice to see pics or a video of that for those of us that ride with half helmets
-DrewZilla
*www.sena.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/SMH10_HJC-CL-2.jpg
Correct me if I'm wrong, did I hear that the 20S is able to pair with device from other manufacturers?
Yes, you can pair one Bluetooth communicator from another brand using the 20S' universal intercom pairing. -DrewZilla
They all need to go boomless. That boom is always in the way or hard to get out of your mouth/lips
I see Sena has a new product "Sena 20S Helmet Clamp Kit for CB/Audio of Harley-Davidson". Do you guys think you might do a youtube info video on this product?
It hasn't been decided yet, but it's possible we might. -DrewZilla
Are these supposed to replace chatterbox? But chatterbox you can talk to unlimited people with the walkie talkie feature right? It also has Bluetooth and you can stream your music and navigation, And this thing u can only chat with 8 people tops right? Just trying to collect information here Thank you

Can I share the GPS NAV voice directions from my phone with another rider?
looking at getting one of these, my buddy has the Scala G9, you think a G9X or this would be the better choice?
cheers for any advice!
leighsa49 I personally like the 20S better because of its ability to pair with non-Sena Bluetooth units.
-DrewZilla
*www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-20s-bluetooth-headset
*www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-20s-bluetooth-headset-with-slim-speakers
How is the audio quality of the speakers? Is there sufficient bass? I currently wear earbuds and would wear earplugs with the speakers to keep wind noise in my helmet down. Will the speakers get loud enough to still be able to enjoy the music?
They aren't studio-quality, but the 20S has a standard audio jack, so you can swap the stock speakers for sound-isolating molded earbuds or larger speakers. The Koss KTXPRO1 headphone speakers (removed from the headphone housing) are a popular swap. -DrewZilla
Will this work with my HJC SYS3? Great video very informative!
Alexander Herring If you are referring to the HJC SyMax 3, then yes, the Sena 20S will fit. -DrewZilla
Alexander Herring I have a sena 20s and the same helmet. It works perfectly.
-DrewZilla
Hi!,
Quick question: does the bulkiness affect the helmet’s dynamics by crating air turbulence (or noisy ride)?
Thanks! ✌🏻
It really depends on the helmet and how air flows over your bike, but generally, it doesn't add any significant noise to a helmet. -DrewZilla
Thank you for prompt response :) Cheers
i bought a pair of these and one of them has always had a short battery life. i decided to look into the problem and it sounds like a big problem! and they are not replaceable! way too expensive for a poorly built product. thought i would try and let people know
I bought the Sena 10S and unfortunately it does not pair with my phone...Which I have all my music on...So, I can't use it until they get the software upgraded.
Excellent review. I'm sold.
Dude, fantastic review as always, but PLEASE pronounce the brand name correctly!!! Sena doesn't have a hard E like eat and be. The E is soft like mend or trend.
The COMPANY website of SENA says otherwise. They pronounce it exactly the way Anthony pronounces it. Good job doing the 1 minute research beforehand.
-DrewZilla
So, can this be used to talk to someone with out a phone? In other words, can it be used unit to unit?
yes, it is called the intercom-function
Thank you.
-DrewZilla
Evidently I could also GLUE - rather than clamp - the Sena to my helmet. That would eliminate the clamp - which is the 'fit' problem.
Talk/music time should be up to 13 hours. If you're only getting 1 hour, I recommend contacting Sena for troubleshooting. -DrewZilla
-DrewZilla
what you guys do with waterproof problem? cover it with some plastic bag or what? I live country witch rain many time in week :D.
While it isn't waterproof to the point of being submersible, it is heavily water-resistant. Many of us here use the 20S while riding in the rain. If you want something rated IP67 waterproof, consider the Cardo PackTalk and SmartPack communicators. -DrewZilla
*www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/cardo-packtalk-headset
*www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/cardo-smartpack-headset
how fragile is that antenna? Does the antenna increase range only? can i use it in a pack ride that doesnt require long range while the antenna is down?
Daniel Davis The antenna increases range only. If you are close together, you don't necessarily need to have the antenna opened up. Many find it easier to leave it open all the time though. -DrewZilla
Revzilla,
Quick question that would really help me out.
Does the Sena 20s for on a Agv k1 Helmet??
Cheers
Do they sell the speakers separately if for some reason one of the speakers dies out on you? Thats one thing i absolutely hate about my Scala unit. Every scala i've owned has had one of the speakers die out and they cant be replaced easily without soldering in something new or buying a new base.
+Picua We have replacement speakers available separately. Please see the link below. -DrewZilla
*www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-20s-speakers
How well can you hear from the speakers (music/nav) while wearing foam ear plugs?
I actually hear the sound better with earplugs, since they reduce wind noise without reducing the music too much. -DrewZilla
Would the recesses on the Shoei X11 / X12 be a bit snug for the included earbuds? I don't want them crammed up against my ears.
davidkbrown The 20S does not include in-ear earbuds, but it includes the helmet speakers. The included speakers will fit in the X-12, but the comfort really depends on the shape of your ears and how far they stick out. They'd likely touch your ears a bit. -DrewZilla
Excellent review - extremely helpful!
Do you deliver in Bangladesh?
How does the quality of the music sound with good quality ear buds?
Thanks.

how can i record audio from a drift hd camera using this device's mic?.
-DrewZilla

Thanks.
Is this unit better than the Scala G9 unit? How do the speakers sound between the two models?
ddemier Sena and Cardo are two of the best Bluetooth headset manufactures on the market. -Hi-Viz Brian

-DrewZilla
Can we get a review of the 20s Evo. We just got and would love to know if it's buggy or if it's just me.
We should have a review coming soon. In the meantime, I recommend making sure you've updated the onboard firmware to the latest version via the Sena software. -DrewZilla
i can't understand a word you say in the first 10 seconds
Jesus christ man...slow down a bit. Great coverage and all, but damn, lay off the mickeys before recording.
I can't seem to find the answer I am looking for. Do you use the speakers with foam earbuds in, and the speakers are loud enough to hear in that situation?
There's no way I am riding without earplugs in to seal out damaging wind noise.
Thanks.
you can use "earbud headphones" by plugging them into the rear jack.
No, it probably won't be better in your case. Your radio likely has a much longer range than these communicators. -DrewZilla
Thanks Drew!
Thanks!
No, you just hear a simple ring through the speakers. -DrewZilla
Can you connect a wireless headset to the Sena 20 S? I figured you might be able to use wireless headsets since both units are Bluetooth capable.
No, you cannot connect a wireless headset to the 20S. -DrewZilla
How much was it? 😊
So, if the speaker wires are also the FM antenna, what happens if you unplug the speakers because you only want to use the ear bud jack? I was planning to use upgraded speakers plugged into that jack.
+st8kout1 The wire on the upgraded speakers should also act as an FM antenna. -DrewZilla
so Sena 20S can be used on half helmets? What type of problems will I encounter
Alvin Smith What half helmet do you have? -Hi-Viz Brian
How do these compare to UCLEAR HBC200 HD with earbuds for us cruiser / half cap guys?
