    I also am still learning, as Scout is my 1st Indian. Have had several HD over the years, but the Scout is refreshing. I do not travel the distance I used to, and the Scout is perfect for my 50 > 75 mi. afternoon rides. Just recently put it down for it's 4 mo. cryogenic sleep ( WI ) Already bummed. Wife is retiring soon. Going to be a long winter.
    Looking forward to more videos.

      I’m trying to hold out a little longer before winter hits here. Hoping to get a little content in beforehand. An then to come up with some ideas for the winter months. 🤔💡

    Just put one of these on mine. I have a question though on your comment towards the end of the video. Can you explain what you mean by clutch engaging higher. What I noticed on min was the clutch engaging much sooner than with old cable. Clutch handle is barely away from grip, and bike starts inching forward. I do have a theory though, and that is maybe where end of cable hooks on to actuator arm, that distance is adjustable. It appears there is a good 1/2 a person could adjust end of cable up or down. I have lever play adjusted correctly, so this is the only reason I can see for clutch engaging so much sooner.

      Hey Mike, no worries on explaining. Its been several months since I did the install (last November 2021), I apologize if my explanation was confusing. I do know that during adjustment of the cable, like yourself I experienced that the bike wanted to lurch forward with very minimal effort in releasing the clutch handle, in fact, when I was initially making the first adjustment on my cable the bike had this behavior of wanting to slowly creep forward, I made small adjustments (usually one or two turns on the bottom cable adjustment next to the jam nut, once I got the adjustment set properly I haven't touched it since.

    Thoroughly enjoy your straight forward videos. No disrespect, but on clutch actuator arm, I believe the nuts should be on both sides of the metal boss. I understand your thinking, but went and looked at my own. Keep the videos coming.

    The stock cable is absolute garbage compared to the Barnett cable. It's hard to describe to someone just how bad the stock cable is without them trying the Barnett stainless cable, but the best way I can explain it is the stock cable causes a lot of the shifting issues people experience. The rubber housing tends to compress (especially when it gets old), so after a while when you pull in the clutch lever the clutch itself doesn't fully disengage, and when that happens you'll have difficulty shifting. Yes you can adjust the stock cable but it's a losing battle; you'll be re-adjusting it constantly.
    Just spend the $100 and get the Barnett cable. Best $100 I ever spent on my ISB.

      I agree, Barnett cable is definitely a big improvement. Been running with it for a few years now and no issues 🙂🏍️👍

    Hey Buddy,
    Good vid and I see you used red grease,.....GOOD MAN!,......Red grease like red bikes always go faster!,......Trust me!,......What colour was Burt's record winning Scout?,.....Red of course!!! And yes, I have a Barnetts cable also on my First Run Scout. Much easier on my weak left wrist.

    Why didn’t you show the most important part? What direction do you turn your adjustment screws to tighten or loosen the clutch?

    • @TechNickRides
      @TechNickRides  Рік тому

      Good catch on that missed detail, but for me it was the same as any basic threaded adjustment. Left to loosen, and right to tighten.

    Whats your impression on the clutch cable? What are the noticeable differences compared to OEM? Barnett cables come highly recommended and I definitely plan on buying one but Id love to know what to look forward to as far as feel and performance

      To me the Barnett clutch cable has a easier pull than the stock clutch cable did. It was getting to the point with the stock cable that in stop and go traffic the stock cable was hard on my hand due to its hard pull. To me for spending the around $80 to have a easier pulling clutch and peace of mind going to a new cable was worth it. I also more concerned of the stock cable breaking on me too.

      @@TechNickRides The force needed on the scout clutch is horrible. That stop and go traffic it needs so much clutch engagement like you said, it kills me. Thank you for the response exactly what I was looking for

    DO NOT grease the actual cable between the barrel and the sheath. From Indian clutch video. Only the barrels gets grease.

    lol you replaced the stock cable and only talked about the engagement point and not if it actually felt better or easier to pull..

    • @TechNickRides
      @TechNickRides  Рік тому

      Yup guess I forgot that part but it’s been about 2 years since I put that new cable on and I’d say it’s probably a 20-30% improvement over stock. Longevity is probably way better with the Barnett though.
