I enjoy watching these videos, then reading the comments to see who's got a clue about what's actually going on at each facility. So here's a few things I noticed...
    1) the hissing is pneumatic tubing ran to the thermostats (several ppl got this one), hospitals have gone away from this method as it's old technology and they use energy management controls now via low voltage cables (24v ac) so the end user has limited control at each station
    2) the buzzing, which you pointed out, is coming from that transformer (probably several on each floor) which that one looks to be 150kva or so. Those are used to take the 277/480 volt used for lightning and hvac and stepping it down to 120/208 volt for general purpose receptacles.
    3) they leave the power on at these places that haven't been slated for demo for several reasons. Most important is heat to keep water lines from bursting, common area lighting for safety, low voltage power (120v) to control things like that 48 port network switch in the closet (most likely for cc TV cameras), and for any pumps that might be running. No chilled water pumps would be operating, but your booster pumps and your boiler pumps (if equipped) will operate to again provide heat across hvac coils but only if equipped.
    4) someone suggested that there was generator power supplying this building. This is FALSE for several reasons, mainly because there wouldn't be enough fuel (natural gas or diesel) in that town to operate that entire building and the generator would have to be the size of 10 semis end to end. To put this in perspective, the last one I installed was a Cummins onan diesel generator, it was the size of one semi, and it only controlled a data center at a hospital which was a room about 3-4000 sq ft. IT HAS AN 800 GALLON TANK that gets filled twice a year due to maintenance operation cycles that fire the generator every Friday at 5 for testing only. That building you're in is probably 100,000 sq ft or better. Most all hospitals are equipped with emergency generators (1 per wing in most cases) which only provide power to essential items. Most all plugs and switches powered by a generator will be red, they'll only operate on emergency power when the transfer switch is changed to emergency in the event of a power loss, and you would hear the generators running outside as they are super loud. ALSO, if there is a hallway with lets say 100 lights in it, only 1 out of every 4 or 5 would be lit up as it's just there to help you escape in case of emergency.
    5) The signs you seen on the roof access aren't all that bad, they just mean that there are cell towers on top of the building because the building is tall and cell companies pay money to install towers on the top of higher buildings in city's because space for ground up cell sites are limited. It was just a warning label saying that there are slightly higher than average rf waves and continued exposure could lead to cancer, you would have been fine. So next time, please proceed. Sorry for the long rant, I only speak on things I know and just wanted to shine some light on a few things for inquiring minds. Take care.

Those are pneumatic thermostats. They use small metal strips that bend with tempurature differences, which causes pressurized air in a tubing system to gain or lose pressure and the HVAC a/c system gets that information from there- whether to heat or cool. When the tubes go bad, they expel air constantly. That's where the hissing comes from.

Scott Prendergast In most states (I can’t confirm if it is all), patients have the right to refuse treatment. In my nursing home I have a resident who has refused to bathe for the past 3 years. Patients also have the right to fall. Here are two things that one would think would be allowed, but are not:
Side rails are ordered by the doctor, we cannot give patients them without it in long term care facilities. As i’ve stated earlier, patients have the right to fall, but we can place fall matt’s beside their bed, but they inhibit treatment (being so raised prevents lifts and other machines from moving). Physical Restraints, atleast in the state of North Carolina, are prohibited. Chemical restrains are ordered by the doctor.

At about 18 min, that vacuum pump is commonly used for draining wounds while replacing bandages. It is also used to suction out the back of people's throats if they have some sort of impairment with swallowing (usually stroke aftermath.) I once had to help hold a patient who had just had a stroke and who was also on blood thinners on their side while the nurse was sucking the blood from the back of their throat after they struck a bloody nose. Not super fun, but that's what that thing is for.

Somewhere in that hospital is a room with a large air compressor that provides constant air to this system. The thermostats open and close VAV boxes or zone dampers so that you can cool different areas at different temperatures.

The device at 12:42 is called the Gordon Diagnostic System. It was used primarily with children between the ages of 4 to 12 to assess for problems with attention, impulse control, and distractibility. It's basically an ADHD test machine. You rarely see these used anymore in psychiatric settings because they're so outdated and they're no longer manufactured. The TOVA is what's hot now.

The whole building was the prison, it was pretty cool but when I looked into it and asked around apparently it's more common than I thought.

my wife and i do this pretty often...i've noticed lots of girls are into creepy and abandoned places, though i'm not really sure why. my wife just loves creepy and scary places and that feeling of "life after people"...me, i just like the thrills.
forget ghosts...the big dangers are decayed floors and ceilings, rats and cats and raccoons, sharp metal junk, or twisting an ankle or injuring yourself by slipping on slick wet floors or tripping over something. always have an escape plan in case of emergency. i pushed a rusty door once and it swung back and smacked me in the forehead, ended up with 8 stitches. good thing i had my TDAP vaccine...
and of course we always bring our (legal) handgun along. your state and local laws may vary, but some crackheads and homeless people just aren't too friendly and welcoming of strangers...hopefully we'll never run into any of the bad ones, but you never know O.o lots of abandoned spots are also populated by gangs, so it helps to know something about local gangs and their tagging identities (graffiti), because you don't want to encounter those guys EVER.
and we've gotten busted a few times, but we're always friendly and agree to leave, and the cops never do anything about it. play it cool and it's all good. at worst you'll end up with a minor trespassing charge and get some community service. a small price to pay for thrillseeking.

Charles Duby Orange fluid looked like Glycol, Antifreeze liquid used for heating or air conditioning coils, this liquid is used instead of water because system will not have to be drained in winter. Water freezes glycol doesn’t.

I find places like this creepier than completely abandoned places, like, there's electricity still running through this place, which I presume is because they plan to do something productive with the building in the future?? But it's just creepier that it's not totally rotting away, I felt like someone was going to appear out of nowhere.

If they were born in the late 90s or early 2000s theres a high probability that the only pictures they've ever taken have been digital and there wasnt ever a reason they needed to know about film and dark rooms. Even if they had looked through old photographs they could have just assumed they were printed out like any digital photos are now.

I agree! I’ve mentioned this on their other videos. I watched one episode where they entered a prison and not once did they go into a cell! Not once!
Another asylum, they didn’t enter any of the rooms.
Most of their footage half the time is halls, stairs and roof tops.

That makes no sense. If it's the first time they have filmed that location, they haven't filmed the same thing 20 times.
Some of their videos are really lazy. Zero footage of anything interesting. All halls and stairs. In one video, they skipped over a room which was an OT but then zoomed in on a creeper on the wall and followed it up to the ceiling. By all means, document natures infiltration but for the love of God, film all the interesting bits. Case in point.
