    Great video! Just got my candy melts:) My question is, don't you have to temper with chocolate first in order to make decoration pieces out of it? I know that you have to use thermostate to temper with chocolate . Candy melts helps to temper with chocolate without using thermostate? I am confused. Please help! Thank you Wilton

    Question for Wilton: can candy melts be used for writing btw? I dont like the part of having to add v. oil to thin out the consistency... I feel like that'll make it too droopy for me to write...
    Can u melt them and use them in THAT consistency to write on a cake? Or shld I just stick to normal chocolate?

    • @kimmiller3530

      There's something you can buy to thin out your chocolate. You can buy it at craft stores. I'm not sure what it's called EZ thins I think. I saw it in one of the videos for dipping strawberries

    May I ask if I use candy melt on whipped cream to decorate the cupcake . Will it melt , ? Thanks 😊

    • @wilton
      @wilton  Рік тому

      Hi there! Since the whipped cream would be cold and the candy melts would be warm, they would probably make the whipped cream melt! If you want that chocolate flavor on top, you can pipe candy melts onto a piece of parchment paper into fun shapes, let them set up and come to room temperature, and add them as little toppers to your cupcakes! Happy Baking!

    considering I can't find any info regarding contacting for the Tasty by Wilton Strawberry Cheesecake candy melts, I'll leave it here ya'll can pass it on...i am NOT happy idk if I got a bad batch or what but in my entire 5 years using candy melts I've never had this problem, they didn't melt...burned & felt like sand. I tried an actual melting pot....nothing, microwave in 20 second increments...nothing, almost did a double boiler but by then it was burning, what do I need to do besides throw it out...

    • @Vtones25

      T MM microwaving in smaller increments and stirring each time helps with making the icing smoother. Sometimes the colored ones can take a little longer due to the dye but just be patient. If the candy melt start to stiffen, adding a little bit of oil helps (vegetable oil, coconut oil, or melted shortening. Doesn’t need much). Hope this helps!

      I think candy melts taste similar to chocolate, a lot of people like the taste and I'm sure a lot of people don't. Either way, the main reason they're used so often is because they're so easy to work with. Actual real chocolate is incredibly difficult to temperate properly. It takes lots of skill, practice, and PATIENCE (lol) to learn how to properly melt and use real genuine chocolate. That's why most people would rather use candy melts than deal with the hassle of melting chocolate, even if they think chocolate tastes better.
      If I were you, I'd pick up a small bag of candy melts just to taste it and see if you like it. If it tasted THAT bad, it wouldn't be so popular, you know?
