The clip I would have liked to see was “…because a man stands up” between the President and Leo. Leo pointed to Charlie’s gallantry and courage to be seen in public with Zoe, even when it drew criticism and death threats.
I love the details and the actors commitment to staying in character. Even in that moment, anyone who works in the White House always address him as "Mr President'.

How is it possible that two guys who are both demonstrably smart? Could not or did not realize that the fireplace is decorative? Why didn't they know or know enough to think about checking to see if the flue was open? I know: because writers. This scene just always troubled me. It's not really that funny? And suddenly making two primary characters look like ridiculous dolts regarding anything normal in the rest of the world just seems mean-spirited. To me. Something else: why not just block the fireplace itself? So this could never happen? Make the logs out of plastic to LOOK like real wood but that couldn't be lit at all, ever, either? Oh. Here's another thought: put the flue closure warning sign right in the middle of the front of the mantel? Facing the room so nobody could possibly claim they didn't see it? And on the blocked fireplace hole? It's the White House. Just because YOU think everyone working there SHOULD be smart enough to know or be aware that the fireplaces and fire wood are ALL decorative and no longer perform their job functions because they can't: too dangerous? Doesn't mean they ARE, or will be. Especially when they're preoccupied with other important matters. I mean seriously? It always felt like a Republican writer somehow got on-staff with the writer's room and thought it would be "so hilarious to make those annoying loser liberal Democrats who are both too damn smart for their own good? Look really stupid for nearly one whole entire episode. So blissfully unaware just how stupid what they're doing is? And they are for doing it? So here's my script for this week's episode." And someone on staff in the writer's room green lit that. And worse? Why would two well-known liberal Democratic actors be totally fine with making their characters look like boobs? It just seemed to go against either of their character's known personality traits/natures. Just one person's opinion.
im amazed Elizabeth Moss was even in this, it didn't eve occur to me she was UNTIL I watched Mad Men and then went back and watched this. She really has come a LONG WAY!
The two scenes I was surprised were not there were: Leo saying “because a man stands up” and Charlie saying to the reporter (Gabrielle Union) “he’s not just the President!”
I know this is a "Charley" video but I cannot help an aside. Among all of the great roles and actors filling them, I have always thought Stockard Channing was an amazing choice.
Sad but, I'm only watching these long WW posts because today Max droped the series from their stream (yes, i have all the boxed DVDs). 😡 Glad for the drops... not the drop. 🙁 Eta: Though the epic bar scene at the end was worth it! 👍
It’s back! I rewatch this show every couple years I was halfway through season two when it disappeared inexplicably. It just came back a couple days ago.
Seeing how the White House is actually supposed to be run ( even by the entertainment industry’s understanding) is terrifying considering the incompetence of Trump.
"Charlie, my father gave this to me, and his father gave it to him. And since my wife is barren and gave me no children of my own, I'm giving this priceless family heirloom and treasured piece of American history to you."
You don't count their 3 daughters as children??? And did you know it's the genetics from the man that determine gender of the offspring? So not only is his wife not barren, he was the one who did not "produce" sons.
@@bkzone8 The point is, Barlet apparently views Charlie as more his child than his three daughters. Passing them over and giving the knife to his body man is absolutely wild.

She was defending a family friend and why should she have to clear her comments with the White House Press Secretary just because she has the misfortune to be the daughter of the President?

I was about to make that exact comment! LOL! I almost died laughing!

Charlie's mic drops are the best.
The exchanges between Charlie and Debbie Fiderer are comedy gold.
All of that time learning the ins and outs of governments and he ended up forming a private psychic detective agency in Santa Barbara
Yeah Georgetown law didn't work out for him apparently

The Paul Revere knife!! Charlie is really President Bartlett's son.
The genuine love and esteem between Jed Bartlett and Charlie was/is quite touching.
Genuine love and esteem between them? It’s a television show. It’s make believe. There’s not a damn thing here that’s genuine.

Let Bartlet Be Bartlet
@@JasmynthCherytha As grandpa Lois used to say, Let Charlie be Charlie, and let Zoe be irritating.
“I don’t how to make you happy dad.“ For that you’d have to talk to talk to Zoe or Liz”. What a cry for help in a relationship.
And sadly Bartlett shut her down much like his dad did with him instead of trying to work it out.
As a father, that line breaks my heart every time I hear it

The most amazing show that has ever graced our TV sets..
Despite not been a character aaron sorkin wanted to introduce im so grateful he lasted the whole show
As much as I love TWW and Studio 60, Charlie was one of Sorkin's more compelling characters - I was pleased he was able to grow across seasons 5-7

Because it was signed by the First Lady and she wanted to keep it. If she cashed it,she wouldn’t have the cheque anymore with the signature.
