Great video. I started doing this about 3 months ago roughly. I like making custom holsters and knife sheaths. They look great. We appreciate the knowledge.
Thanks for the video. I just started making holsters for myself as a hobby recently and wanted to learn more about getting designs on the kydex. Also, hello from Texas, my store has Lone Star in the name as well.
But what ink you use is more important. Also get yourself an infared thermometer to check your plate on your heat press. You may have hot spots or the digital read out of the temp may not be accurate. Meaning you set it 350 and it’s actually 370 on the plate
what paper do you use. mine doesnt peel off like that.. it sticks like donkey shite so i have an extra process of letting it sit in water for half an hour only then it comes off without leaving residue
Some residual ink does get on the foam. I do preheat my foam to a certain extent but some ink does get on the foam. Thus far I haven’t observed any ink transferring from the foam to the kydex.
Thanks for this video. You have taken the confusion out of the process based on equipment and the method employed. Well done. Thanks again.

Love it!
Thanks for the info brother.
Thanks for sharing!
I am trying to get into sublimation kydex. Just wondering how do you find images?
What type of paper are you using underneath the kydex besides the teflon sheet?
Not sure but it sounds like parchment paper , which has silicone built into it.
Thanks for the video and could you tell us what paper you used? How much gsm? I tried it with 80gsm and it melted the paper also onto the kydex..
I use a-sub sublimation printer. Not very much pressure is needed. 350 degrees at 221 seconds.
Thanks for your answer. Temp and time i got from your video, but which paper you use? Is it the A-sub 125G sublimtion paper?
Yes 125 G

Thanks for your information on this keep up the great work

A-sub sublimation paper. But it’s probably an issue with your temp and time. You may also have some hot spots on your heat presse
I was looking for your website but it wouldn't come up can you post the link
How do you press the Kydex without getting ink on the foam?
Some residual ink does get on the foam. I do preheat my foam to a certain extent but some ink does get on the foam. Thus far I haven’t observed any ink transferring from the foam to the kydex.
@@lonestaredc I’ll run a couple of tests with more heat on the foam. Found that dark prints show up on lighter projects.
