This is great advice. Don't be afraid of your new hair. My sister had a hair disaster, so I bought a wig for her that matched her color, but was a little longer than her own hair. She put it on and brushed it, fiddled with the bangs a bit, and went to dinner with her husband. She came home so excited because everyone she met, old friends, waitresses, a lady in the ladies room, everyone gave her compliments, saying how beautiful her hair was...she was absolutely beaming she was so happy. She hugged me and thanked me for the wig. Her own hair has since grown out, but she'll still wear a wig now and then. And now she has a wardrobe of different wigs! Lol
I absolutely love how transparent you ladies are about showing yourselves putting on wigs. Visuals are wonderful. You both have different shaped faces which shows me what may or may not look good on me. Bless you both.
Thank you Kim and Misty! How thoughtful of you to help new wig wearers. It could be so intimidating and then you don't know what's safe to use or what could ruin your new wig. And they're expensive. No wonder people all over the world are watching you in Dallas. You're fun and informative and so caring! P.S. Your real hair is gorgeous, even though you both look stunning in the wigs you try on. Hugs from Galveston.
I thought misty could wear any color. I was wrong! That color doesn't flatter her beautiful face at all!! I'm glad to hear about this! I've got a Helen of Troy, but it's old! Walmart dot com has a 1/2" in stock. I also use the $4.97 cheapo curling irons from Walmart on my non heat friendly wigs. I've got an 8 year old Boost that lost it's shape. I put it on a wig stand, grabbed a bunch of metal clippies, and started curling and clipping to cool,, the back upward to put the flip back! It was a bit too much, but I shook the tar out of it and used one of those aerosol type spray bottles and super lightly misted it and shook the tar out of it again! When I use a blow dryer to style I always keep my fingers in the hair. If it's not burning my fingers the fiber is ok. If my fingers get too warm I turn off the heat and cool set it
I am on my husbands iPad and couldn’t get my account to come up but wanted to say thank you so much for this. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in June and am undergoing chemo. My husband also has cancer so it has been a challenging year. I am bald at this point so wigs are a great pick me up for me. I just bought my first one and it is way too much hair for me. I combed it so can’t return it so will learn to live with it. I wish I had found you ladies before I ordered. Your videos are so fun and I love that you are not perfect and just real. You show so much more realistic of an expectation of what the wig looks like out of the box and how to make it look good. Thank you for all you do!
Great review. I think this will help every new wig wearer so much. I do like the Jon Renau product's I have tried other's and come back to this one. Thank you both I did learn a lot about this blow brush. I need to order this for sure. And the wig grip. You both look great in every wig!
I’ve just completed my first round of chemo.....Thank you so much on the advice about ‘clipping.” When it starts to fall....I’m going to be in control of the process! XX’s and OO’s
Kim Kamrowski That’s what I did. When it started to get annoying, I cut it short, then had my husband buzz it and I was so much happier. It is so annoying to be shedding all over. My head was getting so sensitive, and not having the hair made it so much more comfortable. Good luck with your chemo. I just got to the end of mine.
Thank you so much for these great tips. I've been so apprehensive about trying my wig. These idea's are making me feel more confident to put my long hair up and try again. Cheers from British Columbia Canada.
Thank you for this video ladies, I have hair loss & it's all in the front, I watch it dying, it breaks, gets thinner & curlier until it finally goes. I'm now looking to buy a wig for the first time. Obviously I'll need more in the future. I hope you send to UK?💖
You both look great in both of those wigs. Great tips for us newbies, I’m less of a newbie now, and I have learned a lot from your videos, and from the wig review community in general.
The hot tool tips were wonderful. Every once in a while I get a wig that has "box fatigue" and I can't get it to lay correctly. Luckily, I have the right tool in my closet so now I can make those corrections. Love you two and the videos you create to help us wig wearers'.
I think you both have gorgeous heads of hair - I'm jealous! I wish I didn't have to wear a wig, but as someone who has struggled with thin, wispy hair my whole life, when it started to fall out it was kind of a relief to wear a wig. I feel like now I look the way I'm supposed to look and actually have people come up to me and ask me who cuts or colors my hair because they love it! I wear "Stop Traffic" by Raquel Welch.
I've lost my hair twice due to menopause along with massive weight loss. The last time I lost about 70%! The first time it was in quarter size clumps in front! However, it's grown back, but not all of it! The doctor said if you lose 200,000 hairs, only about 130,000 will grow back!
Hi ladies, Could you list where to buy the Hot Tools blow dryer brush for wigs? I am looking they are either ceramic or do not list if they are suitable for wigs. Thank you!
Big Help. Size info and how to measure your head would be helpful too. Also do you store it on a head stand? This is a compliment you both look so great with the wigs. Better than natural hair.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm new at this, have two wigs and they're owning me, not the other way around. Your videos are always fun and informative, and I'm loving this one in particular. So appreciative of the good advice, especially the hot brush. I suspect that's the key to getting my wigs to look the way I want them to. Thank you again. 🧡🧡
Great video!! Very helpful! Quick question...once you have used the hot tools brush on your wig, will it stay that way even after its been washed? Or will you have to use it again? For example, I have a Kristen and won’t stay out of my face, so after watching this, I was thinking of trying the hot tools brush to fix that. Does it go back to its original shape after washing? Or does the “heat” change it forever? Thank you!
Well ladies you are absolutely gorgeous ..... thank you so much for this video ..... i have here a round brush which pushes hot air, can i take this brush for my wigs, even those which are not heat defiant or if I have to buy one in particular ..... I find that for the bangs it looks super natural .... like real hair ..... thank you very much .....
I love your videos and learn a lot when I watch them, I really appreciate all the information and tips you share! I have short hair, it is almost shaved at the back. I have such issues with the wig grip sliding up and the wig riding up as well. I have tried two way tape on the back of the wig but it also pulls up. Do you have any recommendations?
I have the same issue. The best thing I've found is "It Stays" Body Adhesive. It is not a glue and I just roll it on my hairline, especially the nape on the sides, and then I put on my wig grip and use a satin ribbon to tie around it and let it set to the wig grip and the netting (if you use that too). After about 15-20 mins, I remove the satin ribbon and the wig grip is stuck exactly where I want it! It stays put all day with no issues at all. It takes a while to figure out the best, most comfortable and secure way for each wig. At least that is me, I am very sensitive and found that if I can secure it, I set it and then "forget" it and that minimizes itching throughout the day. I am new to wigs and I have tried tape too but it pulls and then gets stuck on my hair and it's so difficult to remove and really hard to work with, IMO. The adhesive is perfect, it also works for clothing and other stuff. It does come off with water, so I don't know about too much sweating. But at the end of a night, you can take a warm wash cloth and get the glue out of your hair (if your too lazy to take a shower, that is lol) It stays is a roll on, like old school deodorant and a little does the job.. It's under $10 at wigs.com Give it a shot, it is worth it!
My mom has super duper thick hair that's also very very curly. Her hair isn't shoulder length, but it's well below her ears. I've got no idea how to help her put it up. Shes got a super flat head, so wigs grips aren't as effective. I've used open top, fishnet type cap and just pulled it up with that, but it wasn't pinned down well enough. Any ideas? Anyone?
Also do you have any instructional videos for spraying on the dry shampoo? lol that may be a silly question but I have used it on my own hair and I just spray it at the roots but I'm guess that won't take the shine off a wig?
What color are you wearing? It sounds strange, but most of the time we suggest getting the brown color because they don't show through as much as the tan color. If you are still seeing through the lace then you might just need to wear it a little further back behind the lace. Hope this helps! :)
Such a helpful video ladies! I have a question I hope it doesn’t sound too silly 😊 Do you have to cut the lace front? Or paste it down or anything? I’ve seen others online cut the lace which would terrify me (I’m sure I would ruin the wig!) I also wouldn’t want to glue it down on my face. I’m curious about this because the wigs y’all have look nicely done already☺️ Thanks ladies 💜
I dont do anything to mine but make sure they stay clean. Love a lace front. I am very fair and the lace front blends right in. I cannot imagine it would be a problem for you.
I agree with the previous response. Additionally, if you find the lace is a little too dark for you, you can place a little of your foundation makeup underneath the edge of the lace to help it blend for your skin tone/color.
I don't typically do anything with my lace front wigs. I have one that is really itchy from the friction so I will use a little "It Stays" body adhesive and glue that down a little but not every time, just when I need to wear it for a long period of time. :)
Help -- I'm on line looking for the hot tools plastic barrel blow dryer and not sure how to tell if the barrel is plastic . On amazon it is not indicated. Is there a specific name --- also what is the barrel width? Any help appreciated.
It will have silicone in the description. I found mine on Amazon a few months ago, but I looked before responding to you and they also carry these at Ulta in case you have one of those near you. 🙂

Kim, I saw your hair and almost asked what wig that was-love it! Question: do you guys wear your own hair or wigs more often in real life? Thank you.
Thank you guys so much for these tips, extremely helpful, your lovely women.
Misty, would you please let us know where we can purchase a Blow Brush for synthetic wigs? I love the way you straighten that wig.
Kim, that January looks GREAT on You!!!! I kinda like it better Not pulled behind your left ear tho.
I have long strands hanging on mine. I got the wig because I hated my hair. It made me like my hair.
Kim. Your lipsences is so pretty. Matches your blush perfectly 😍

How do you deal with the extra bulk that putting your bio hair up creates? Doesn't it affect how the cap fits...perhaps making it roo small?

It generally stays in place once you have done it, but since the hot air brush is a low heat setting you may have to do it twice.
Hi there, great video and very useful. Can you please give me a link to the Hot Tools Brush blower? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Thanks a million
Wonderful advice. So helpful for everyone. Thank you both. 💗😊

Excellent presentation
Can you use that Hot Tools air brush on a synthetic wig that is not heat resistant?
Can I use the hot tool on my Gabor Sweet Talk? It feels so heavy and set in its ways...particularly on the sides.
So, if you put the wig grip on & clip up your hair, do you not need one of those netted or pantyhose looking wig caps on your head?
Can you use hairspray?
