Wow, what a great video! I just wish your shop was here in Northern California! Love the steaming demonstration. That wig went from a very nice wig to a masterpiece on Kim. Kim, you look beautiful!
Thank you SO much for doing this video! I have purchased 4 new wigs (Voltage, Sky, Reese, and Editor's Pick!) and would love to be able to redirect some of the bulk, and have some wispy bangs on one of them. I purchased a set of scissors, thinning shears, and a razor, so I have the equipment I need. I just need to get one of the cork heads,, to work on it more easily. I've always been good cutting hair, so I don't think I will have any problems after watching your excellent tutorial. Thank you again, for all of the information you share. One day I'll talk my husband into going to Dallas to meet you, and buy some more hair! We're in Toronto, Canada, so it may take some convincing, but I'll get there eventually :D Love you ladies, and your video's. What a great service you do for us!
I love you guys! I am a retired hairdresser that has begun to wear wigs. You give the best demos on what to do to style and make them yours! This is the same problem I had with Jolie and now I believe I can fix her! Thank you so much for the information and please keep it up! Lisa
I can't thank you enough for this video. You two are great and just wished I lived closer to Dallas. Have just customized a very old jon renau with the 'kim hump' and it came out great.
You got me again. At the beginning of the video I thought "Oh Kim looks great not wearing a wig yet!" Off it comes while I go "GAHHHH oh phew, it's a wig!" Honestly, that Jolie is the prettiest color and style I've ever seen on Kim. She looks GORGEOUS! Props to Misty too for making it look chic. It's okay out of the box but she makes it look like a million dollars. Misty, you are amazing, girl.
Thank you, this is the exact video I needed to watch. I have the Carrie by Envy which comes with bangs. The long piece of hair that is beside the bang is falling forward. I haven’t worn it yet since that one piece is falling over the bang and into my face. I know I’m not making sense. When you are using the thinning shears on the bang and on that piece of hair I’m referring to. Which way are you holding the shears with the teeth facing out or in. I just love all your videos, I haven’t missed watching one. Thanks so much for your help!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I live in Australia and there are very few wig shops around (let alone people I would trust to customise a wig.) I have to buy online and am learning some very basic ways to 'modify' my wigs. I have some older wigs I'll practise these techniques on.😊😊😊
Thank you so much for this video! Jolie doesn't come in my color anymore (iced mocha R) so I bought a Tori and did the same thing you did. Tori comes with a middle part so I changed it to a right-side part and did the hump. It came out beautiful!! Awesome tutorial!
I am pimping your ride (sharing this video) because I've been following you lovely ladies for quite some time and want to save this wisdom for future practice. Well done!
Hi girls ! I love you two... I live in Dallas and already bought my wig ( I started chemo last week ) do you only customize the wigs purchased from your store? I wish I had discovered you sooner- I still may come in so I can meet you both ( and maybe buy one from y’all) ....I think you both are fantastic!
you are so good Misty, I have a weirdo wig I got by accident, I got wrong color and wrong type of wig and I kinda wanna play now with this one to see how it could maybe work :D Im excited
This woman has some real skills.....And i NEED her services lol. I have had a wig for a few months that needs some tweaking but im too timid ( petrified actually) to take it to anyone .....but this woman is someone i know i could trust because ive just watched what she has done and how shes transformed this wig tu suit her friend......WOW ....so impressive. Where are these ladies located ? If not far , i would definately travel TO her!
I just started to watch your videos when I found them, I absolutely love you guys you both are so helpful with information. I have lupus and at the point my hair loss can't be hidden anymore, I really need help to find what will work for me. I live in Delaware and would like to schedule a trip to Dallas and come to your salon, how far in advance would I need to schedule an appointment? Could you give me some information on what to expect and would the appointment be with one of you ? Thank you so very much have a wonderful day,.
Hi Beverly, so sorry for your struggle with hair loss because of your lupus. We actually won't need you to make an appointment at all, you may come at your convenience. Kim or Misty are always at the shop each day we are open and sometimes even work together. If you would like to give us some more information and even send us pictures of your current style through our website then we can get an idea of some styles and colors to make sure we have in stock before you come into town. Just let us know! :) www.mimiswigboutique.com
I really liked that. I would like to see more of this kind of video, but with the camera placed so I can see better how you texture and point cut the bangs. We dont have anyone like you in our area, I would like more tutorials so i can try this.
Great video. Wish you were nearer to me (Roanoke Va.). I have been unable to find a nice wig shop within 100 miles. The best i have found is in Myrtle Beach SC. Ridiculous!
Thank GOD‼️ I live in Irving Tx & needed a great wig & hands on help to make it mine . Do I need to make an appt or can I just come see y’all ? I have health issues so that is why I am asking. Thank You♥️
Pam Hamilton you do not need an appointment and may come at your convenience. Just be aware that we have over 150 different styles to choose from so you want to allow yourself adequate time to make your selection. In addition, if you need any services like a bang trim, cap alterations, etc. that will add some time to your visit. We look forward to meeting you! Thank you for watching!
Great questions! Thank you for watching. As for the canvas wig block it is much easier to style on that a normal styrofoam head. You can order different sizes to make sure your wig fits securely when you pin it on. We wrap our heads to keep them sanitary as we do a lot of styling for our clients on a regular basis. As for your bio hair showing when tucking, etc. we find that choosing a wig close to your natural color allows you to pull those hairs free from the wig and blending them in with the wig hairs makes for a super natural looking hairline. If you are wearing a wig not close to your natural color and can't incorporate it with your wig then wearing a Milano Wigrip will keep those hairs tucked up nice and neat and keep them from escaping.
Just found your channel. y'all are the best! I'm in NC but wondering if I can make an appt to come to Tx to have you customize a couple of wigs for me??
Of course! Would love to have you as our client! Just go to our website and email us with the specifics of the wigs you wear and what you want to have done and we will get in touch with you! www.mimiswigboutique.com
Yes ma'am we have shipped it out to several around the country! Send us an email through our website to discuss the details. :) www.mimiswigboutique.com
I love Kim’s wig the way you cut it. That’s the exact style that I’ve been looking for. Is it possible that I could buy the exact wig and send it to you and you cut it the same way?
S MS absolutely! Just either come in and we will get you taken care of or call the store to discuss if you are unable to come in. 972-380-5306. Thank you for watching!
Hi ladies! Love your videos! Misty can you demo how you use "product" to get your looks. I have Audrey and Cameron by ROP but they seem so flat to me. I'd like a little oomph by the part and Kim's "Jolie hump". Is this possible with these wigs? I have a temp control curling brush. Thank you.
Yes it is possible to get height in the Audrey and the Cameron. They have a machine made cap which can be brushed with a pin brush made for wigs and a lot of the times that will provide enough lift on its own. Also here is a product called "Powder Cloud" by Schwartzkopf that creates some texture and grit at the root to lift it. As for steaming, etc...this generally works if you move the part and over-direct it. Just make sure your temp control curling brush has an ALL PLASTIC barrel as any type of metal or ceramic will burn the wig. BE CAUTIOUS! Best of luck!
You can usually find the one we use at your local Sally Beauty Supply or you can order from us by ending an email through our website. www.mimiswigboutique.com
I have question I like to buy your hair grip but I live in Arizona an as you know the summers are hot 🥵 an I’m afraid that the grip would be too hot ...what are your thoughts?
We always say it is hot whether you are wearing anything on your head or not (lol), but the Wigrip doesn't add any heat in our opinion. Most of our body heat is regulated through the top of our heads and the grip just goes around the perimeter. We won't go without one!
I agree. I wear a wig grip, live in hot and sweaty NC and I think it helps absorb the perspiration. That said, I recommend hand- washing it every couple wearings. Mine get itchy if I don't. Also, match it to your bio-hair or scalp, not wig color.😉
Tyrandy B because we use steam to reform it and then cool, it is a permanent reformation and stays after washing. Occasionally, a little touch up is required over time.
I didn't know you could do all the things you did to a wig. When you sell a wig to a customer do you always have to cut and/or steam it or can most wear it straight out of the box/
Was this a non-heat friendly wig? Just curious. I took over my MILs wig salon of 60 years and I'm still learning. Just wanna make sure the heat brush is safe on non-heat friendly before I try it. She has told me not to use anything but steam on non-heat friendly. Of course, fibers have changed a lot since when she first started. So she may just be stuck in her ways. She can style ANYTHING with just steam and teasing! 🤣
Gail Mattingly yes, we can. Just call the store to coordinate. The technique we use with steam is a permanent modification and retains it’s style after washing. Thank you for watching.
I have really enjoyed you ladies. But it seems that most ALL the styles and colors look great on you......i am so envious. Youre both gorgeous and display these wigs so nicely. My face is super long and thin......and everything looks too full and like too much hair dangit
ImSPOTon thank you for your kind words. It is just a matter of finding the right style for you. Get opinions from someone that knows you well and will be honest with you. We all see ourselves so differently. My wigs are way better than my hair and are a lot thicker, I feel like I have tons of hair on when I look on the mirror but others don’t see that. Just keep trying, you’ll find the right one. Hugs! Kim
How do you was a wig and how often, especially when using hairspray. Where can I get the steamer you used and does it ruin the wig, too hot. Please advise. I wish you would do more instructive videos, this one was a big help.
I get a old wig I like to turn into a guy wig for me it a Elizabeth by Paula Young its short and mom know longer like the style I wonder if thinning shears would do the trick.
I have been wearing wigs fir a while but I would never cut, steam, or thin a wig. I don’t know how to do these things and would be afraid too. And I don’t know who could go these things for me. Most Beauticians don’t either that are around me. Ones I know like doing human hair only. I surely don’t trust myself.
Gail Mattingly it can get a bit tricky if you are not used to it. Just try to find a reputable wig salon near where you live that can help you. Thank you for watching!
So this is a wig where it can be restyled? I guess there’s a name for the type of “hair” that the wigs made from. I’ve had wigs that couldn’t take any heat at all.
Sandra Newton the styling we show is done by a licensed Cosmetologist with years of experience working with synthetic fiber. Without proper training, you can ruin the wig. However, there are techniques that can be used with heat to reform the fiber, as we show in the video.
So everybody wants you now...have you ever thought about doing wig shows, traveling to different states in maybe a central location and advertising and offering custom styling for women who need you. I live in a very busy vacation city on the beach, yet there’s absolutely nothing like your shop anywhere near here. I just think you could not only benefit yourselves, but so many others with your experienced hand at this beautiful art. ❤️😊🤩
I just ruined my new RoP Cameron by attempting to steam her myself. All I wanted to do was settle down the fringe and have it sit a certain way but the whole thing frizzed up like an old doll's hair. She's in the bin and I'm heartbroken.
Elizabeth Shank just come in and we will work with you to customize as you need and within the limits of the style. When you purchase from us, the customizing is included in the price of the wig. We’d love to assist you in any way we can.
I am enjoying you channel but the audio is always so low I cannot hear you. Even though I turn the volume to 100%, I cannot understand what you are saying and sometimes there are no closed captions available. Your channel is the only one I have so much trouble hearing.
That looks fantabulous!!!!
Is Misty a hair stylist? I feel like she must be, this turned out simply beautiful!! ❤
Ok, Noriko needs to create a “Jolie Kim” wig so we can just have it ready to wear 😉
Wow, what a great video! I just wish your shop was here in Northern California! Love the steaming demonstration. That wig went from a very nice wig to a masterpiece on Kim. Kim, you look beautiful!
This is such a helpful video. I wish I had a wig salon like yours that I could go to.

Bonita Walker thank you for watching!
I can't thank you enough for this video. You two are great and just wished I lived closer to Dallas. Have just customized a very old jon renau with the 'kim hump' and it came out great.
Awesome video, what a difference it made!! Thanks for showing it.
You guys are so professional. I feel so confident to do my wigs. Please do more videos like this with long hair too. Thanks.
Thank you Marina for your sweet comment and we will definitely be doing more long wigs!
You are a magician!!! The end result is soooo beautiful!
Thank you for watching!
Super cute!!!
So interesting. You ladies are so talented.
Love watching this!!!
I love you ladies. You are both wearing such pretty outfits. Amazing alterations on that wig. It's what I'd wear.

Wish I lived near you. Essex is a long way from Texas.
Have you ever tried a "wig oven" for curling?
Dresden219 we used to use one a long time ago, but these days we stick with hot air brushes, warm electric rollers and steam.
Misty reminds me of Phoebe from FRIENDS. 👍

Mimi's Wig Boutique thank you so much!
I would like to get a styling brush like that but can’t find one. Can you recommend something like what you are using on the internet I can buy?
You can usually find the one we use at your local Sally Beauty Supply or you can order from us by ending an email through our website.
www.mimiswigboutique.com
I love that bun. It’s not a wig is it? I have a steamer air brush, because t never thought to use them together. Great video. TU
mattiesful no, the bun is Misty’s hair and she always makes it so cute and messy. Thank you for watching.
I have to have that hump too!!
Also Misty, fo you only customize wigs purchased from your location?
I wish u were in Oklahoma City area. I would buy that wig and have it customized by you! Great job and this wig on Kim is beautiful
Sharlene Tull we are only a few hours away! 😊
I have question I like to buy your hair grip but I live in Arizona an as you know the summers are hot 🥵 an I’m afraid that the grip would be too hot ...what are your thoughts?

Do you have to style after every wash?
What kind of scissors are you using to do the texturising those are not thinning shears are they?
Will the hump stay even after its washed. Or do you have to redo it each time the wig is washed?
Tyrandy B because we use steam to reform it and then cool, it is a permanent reformation and stays after washing. Occasionally, a little touch up is required over time.
Thank you!
Will steaming my wig take away some of the puff?
It is possible if it is done the right way.
I didn't know you could do all the things you did to a wig. When you sell a wig to a customer do you always have to cut and/or steam it or can most wear it straight out of the box/
Most wear straight out of the box, but occasionally we do alterations if a customer wants it.
Can be you do the same they to this wig if I bought one from you ? Then send it to me? Will it stay that way after washing and conditioning it?
Gail Mattingly yes, we can. Just call the store to coordinate. The technique we use with steam is a permanent modification and retains it’s style after washing. Thank you for watching.
How long does a wig normally last? if you use it 2-3 times pr week just in the ballpark ?
Will the style stay when she washes it?
Yes, by steaming it we reformed the fiber.
So steamed is ok for HD synthetic?
what happens after you have steamed and cut this wig when you wash it??
Could I order from you a Jolie that is the same custom cut as Kim? What measurement would you need?
I have really enjoyed you ladies. But it seems that most ALL the styles and colors look great on you......i am so envious. Youre both gorgeous and display these wigs so nicely. My face is super long and thin......and everything looks too full and like too much hair dangit

So wish I watched your video before I trimmed my brand new Alva by Noriko that I ruined!
Is Jolie heat defiant?
No it is regular synthetic fiber. Noriko doesn't make a heat friendly wig.
Does this have to be restyled after a shampoo?
No once it is steamed in place it holds the style.
Where can we get the products?
Was that a razor you were using for a short time on the wig?
We use a Feather professional razor. You can purchase one at Sally Beauty Supply or from Amazon.
@@MimisWigChicks ,,,Thank you so much! I love the razor cut
How do you was a wig and how often, especially when using hairspray. Where can I get the steamer you used and does it ruin the wig, too hot. Please advise. I wish you would do more instructive videos, this one was a big help.
Are you using heat? Or is that a steamer?
Tammy Sais we are using a wig steamer and a plastic hot air brush.
Thank you for your reply; I appreciate your videos
I get a old wig I like to turn into a guy wig for me it a Elizabeth by Paula Young its short and mom know longer like the style I wonder if thinning shears would do the trick.

Misty was that your own hair in the video? Or if it is a wig...which one? 💜Love💜love💜love that hairstyle on you!😄
CJ cj that is Misty’s hair. It is beautiful on her!

Why are there not custom “unwiggy” wigs for whites the same as black ladies have?
I just ruined my new RoP Cameron by attempting to steam her myself. All I wanted to do was settle down the fringe and have it sit a certain way but the whole thing frizzed up like an old doll's hair. She's in the bin and I'm heartbroken.
Oh no! We hate to hear that. Steaming takes a super light hand. We always suggest to try and practice on an old wig first to get the hang of things.
Let me ask you a question. Can I purchase a wig from you, and you cut to fit my face? Every wig I purchase needs your help...
Elizabeth Shank just come in and we will work with you to customize as you need and within the limits of the style. When you purchase from us, the customizing is included in the price of the wig. We’d love to assist you in any way we can.
