You are right it is mounted way too high!
Also, are you steering with the sterndrive when you use the kicker?
I steer mainly with the kicker and also with the sterndrive occasionally.
How many HP is the tiny engine? What speeds do you get up to?

Seems like the motor needs to go a little lower. Any kind of waves and it will be out of the water half the time.
