Not a United fan but my god, Keano was some player. He ran the middle of the field almost every game. His footballing ability is always overshadowed by leadership.
Back in the day when we were actually moving about in the box and our attackers were willing and able to cross. And when did you ever see Pogba make a run like Keano for the last goal. I can't believe it was 30 years ago almost.
Davies and Gray, yup. Tyler, no doubt he was articulate and quality. He was just such a United biased git. Of course, he says he was a Petersborough or Rochdale fan, at least I think he said he was lol. Anyhow, I think his glory years, coincided with Uniteds, so after seeing so many games he grew into a fanboy of sorts. If I am being honest, much the same thing happened to Brian Moore with LFC in the 70's and early 80's and you could say Motson afterwards until about 94. The problem for Tyler, was he sounded so much more educated than most.
The game after the disgrace of Galatasary. The disgrace being the way our players, management and fans were treated. It was like going back 100 years, that’s what it looked like. I wonder how many United fans actually made it to the Ali Sami Yen stadium?? 50 maybe?? You could see the hangover from that game in the first half here. Great comeback though. We had a brilliant team back then. Probably my favourite ever United side.
reading Keano's first bio and had to revisit the game after his description. rewatching old games is hell more fun when you get a player's perspective.
Remember this game really vividly - how United were 2-0 down at the break was an absolute mystery because they bossed the whole game - two majestic headers from Quinn. But second half Cantona was outstanding and it felt inevitable when Keane won it.
@@philauguste7310 he wasn't completely wrong tho, united were almost the only famous English club back then in the other countries causing many people blindly supporting them. No offense
I loved the early 90's..We still had our football supporting culture and still had that constant crackle in the stadiums.Sad how fan culture has died in England
scherben in the mid 90’s it was exactly like that. People asking me on Chester road where the ground was. Tourists. Plastics. My last game at OT was spurs at the end of the 00/01 season. I’d had enough. No atmosphere, nothing. Keane was right. Prawn sandwich eating idiots. Away games were great though, I went to as many as possible.
@@mrkipling2201 Even now, the away support is superb; but OT is usually sterile - along with every other stadium on planet corporate football. Once United Road was seated, it was never the same for me; even though the Crazy Corner's relocation to the Stretty livened that section up.
scherben oh I totally agree. It’s complete diluted crap now. Unfortunately when grounds became all seater, the atmosphere disappeared almost straight away.
I was in the Kippax for this one. It was fucking hilarious. Some of them were spitting feathers at the end. I even had to hide my collar badge on the way out.
Hi there do you have clip of Joe Jordan's last minute derby winner on 30th of September 1978 as i was at the game at the back row of k stand as the ball went in & as a 13 year old schoolboy who had been 'taunted' all week about how they were going to beat us it is one of my best 'derby memories'.
Was in the North stand that day sick as fuck I was, to be two up but United did have a great side back then. Us City we was just going from one trauma to another with ownership of the club etc we really was the soap opera football club back then.

what a quality ball from giggs for the second goal!
one of my fav matches from that team. What a come back.
Quinn, Keane, Irwin, Kernaghan, Phelan. Irish used to be so well represented in these games. Would love to see that edge and energy in modern games.
What a ball by Giggs for the second.
And Dennis for the third
Incredible vision.

I have to admit that I think early Tyler and Gray commentary is some of the best I’ve ever heard. Along with Barry Davies.

My first United game, 13th birthday present 👌🏾
Mark Hughes was an incredible player,

There's a very satisfying "tonk" from the post in Cantona's First Goal
