@@JJDeafGeek Same here. However, I didn't know you had to buy the game back then because a friend just gave me a cracked version. I didn't even know what that meant so I ended up playing for like 5 years before actually buying the game.
I honestly reckon account migration and flooding the game with capes is Mojang trying to combat account reselling. They make money only when a new account is purchased and notoriously have been against things like Optifine, because they can't get any money from OF Cape donations. They can't get any money from people selling Minecon Cape accounts and hope people think "a cape is a cape lol" and will settle for the vanilla ones. Just my take.
Well to be fair, even players like myself don't even like Optifine as it's closed source and in general games the game run worse if you don't have the correct hardware.

@@S0M3O43 Optifine runs shaders like ass in comparison to Fabric with optimization mods. It can take a while to find the stuff you need but once you do, you don't really need optifine

@@XihuanXihuan so is cloacks+ its a extension thing and you can get any cape with any design you want for free. also everyone that uses cloacks+ can see them. i feel like if we make this more popular cape problem would be gone
I love the idea of veteran capes, it gives a proper way to show off how long we’ve all been playing the game

I personally don’t like the idea, mainly because of people (like myself) who started on bedrock, old pocket edition, and consoles who have since moved to java. I understand the reason why some older java players would like these capes, but it could leave other ogs out just because they didn’t play java first.

I love the idea of the cape but the design itself looks unfinished. I see the 3D grass block at the top and that looks good for the most part but what's going on in the bottom? What's that texture is that supposed to be? I want to say Bedrock because of it's theme (Java being grass block and Bedrock being bedrock) but it looks more like deepslate to me, and even that texture doesn't look like it. The dark triangle at the bottom confuses me, is it supposed to be shading or part of the design? What is it trying to portray here? The random gray pixels look weird, I know its part of the grass block texture but it looks too intrusive. What's with the shading bellow the grass block? Is it supposed to be the shadow of the grass block if so why isn't it in a triangle shape too? And it might just be because of compression but It looks really messy overall. Am I just missing something here? Is it like an optical illusion that I'm not seeing?
I love the idea of Mojang giving away more capes, but this definitely looks like a placeholder texture, it doesn't look up to par with the other cape textures at all.
It is bedrock it represents java and bedrock edition together

You are missing something lol- it's supposed to be bedrock as someone has said + put in a way where's it's 2 of them with one missing the middle.

1:47 I just want to make a correction, bedrock edition does have a special cape which is the Minecraft Live 2019 cape. It is tied to the Microsoft account of the user, rather than their name like in java edition. It does not surprise me that Mojang would want to add more.
I means theres only 3 confirmed cape in bedrock edition.
1. Founders Cape (Minecraft Live 2019)
2. Pan Cape (Obtained when joining beta/preview)
3. Mojang Studio Cape
And i did not include Skin Pack capes like minecon 2016 skin pack

They also have the Pancape, a cape given out around 2018-2019 (If I remember) for beta/alpha players of bedrock.

I have the Migration cape & I think I might get the Vanilla cape too. As someone who plays singleplayer mostly, I think it’s a nice addition to my skin & makes my overall gameplay experience a little better. The only people who seem opposed to these new capes are those who’ve acquired a minecon cape account.

if you play singleplayer only, you didn't have to allow yourself to be forced by Microsoft to migrate your account and instead kept your mojang account and installed a mod to use any cape you want.

@@Robotition Indeed. I reluctantly went along with the account migration at the time (not knowing any better). In retrospect, I probably would have been better off just sticking to my Mojang account.
they probably did this to recover their reputation after the 1.19.1 update but i don't think this makes up for it a single bit

Wonder if the free Windows 10 Beta you get when buying Java Edition around 2017 counts as "buying" Bedrock edition, since that's how I got Bedrock and probably a lot of other people as well.

What I think the cape is supposed to look like is at the top, grass blocks to represent Java Edition (shown in the minecraft launcher) and the bottom, well, bedrock to represent Bedrock Edition. Pretty neat.

it might be supposed to look that way, but all i can see from my perspective, is the infact grass block, and like a pyramid in the middle of the night, with a shadow on the left
I think the deepslate in the cape is supposed to signify "bedrock" therefore this cape is supposed to be a java+bedrock type of cape
do i like the new capes? yes. however i do feel like capes were a special thing that were so incredible given they were a bit rare. i feel like giving a lot of people these capes will completely void that aspect of it, however i do think this is a pretty cool thing they’re doing
I somewhat agree it was nice when capes were rare and it was fun to oooh and aaah over players with them, but now that migrator capes are flooding servers I'm completely down to get some more variety in capes instead of the same red gold and black!

The thing is I bought them using different accounts and I lost the bedrock one so I guess I won't get the cape
Capes are a fun cosmetic to see in your 3rd person view. The extra detail just makes your own and other's skins pop out with the movement physics. Rare capes will still be rare, but everyone gets some extra cosmetic choice. Marc said something similar ages ago and I agree with him.

It's interesting, anyway I'll try to get the translator cape I know I can still get it with a few colleagues
(although to get those peers and get mojang to accept my request to do a translation, I have to do a few things first)
From the first time I saw the java and bedrock release arrival I knew that some sort of cape would be the reward I just diddnt know how long it would be till I got it. The name of the cape is cool but weird considering the context, the design of the cape is not the best but still looks good and I will be proud to wear it.

I have seen really og usernames and 2 letter usernames in game more often than people with any other capes than migration cape, which of there still should be multiple times more of. 1 time a realms cape and one time some minecon cape vs 3 instances of 2 letters and many times common english words

I bought Java at a time when they were doing a deal that if you bought Java you got bedrock edition for free it was like some promotion thing so I got both at once

I think capes for more general things like supporting the game before X happened are good things, unlike the migration cape this one required you to go out of your way to support Mojang TWICE on the same account by buying both bedrock and java before they got merged as purchases, also hopefully purchases on mobile devices and through codes found in store are eligible for the cape, so I can actually get it as I bought java normally on PC.
I'd have to contact the support and try getting it on my main since I bought Bedrock on a separate account awhile ago. I can confirm I own it and I have access to both accounts. Heck the payment info might be the same as well!

It had been mentioned before, kinda. When Java + Bedrock were paired the faq said if you have both you wont get either version but you will get something special in the future

i think the veteran xbox 360 and one edition players who got the game before the discontinuation should get there own capes on their Microsoft account that they can use on Java and Bedrock. Cuz I and many others started Minecraft there.

i got java edition in 2015 and i got bedrock edition for free when they gave it to all the java people, but then i migrated my java account to a different account then i had put the bedrock eiditon on, and i hope i still get cape.

I wonder if migrating a Mojang or Legacy account to a Microsoft account that already had bedrock will give the cape
even if you didn't buy them from your own Money and got them in the offer Mojang gave in like 2018 and 2015, the servers will still think of that transaction as a normal transaction, so yeah, it would work

I've had the game since alpha think I deserve a nice cape for that lol, also I e only been able to get the migrator cape to show up when I play on pc, is there a way I can get it when I play on Xbox and stuff too
I would love this cape for a couple reasons. I play both Java and bedrock consistently and I never got the migration cape because I bought Java after Microsoft accounts were a thing so this would be my first cape. And also I like to keep the visual aspects of Java and bedrock mostly the same without making one version look exactly like the other, for example I have the same resource packs on each version, same fov, same render distance, same skin, ect. It's annoyed me that I had to have the pancape on one version and optifine cape on the other, this new cape would fix that problem too.

Two are connected currently, but I don't remember the last time I even used my current account with it.
I always used my Dads xbox account because I had the game before they added microsoft accounts to MCPE and I didn't make one until I bought java a couple of years ago lmao.
If they release the cape and I didn't connect it before the merge, this would be the *3rd time* I got screwed out of a cape 🥲
Also while I have owned the xbox 360 and xbox one editions (I don't play xbox one, but my lil sisters love it) they are both under different accounts.

I had to check to make sure that my Java account was created before that date. I was in luck since it was created sometime during December 2021 and my bedrock account is probably as old as time.

Hi i have a question about that because i get and played on bedrock edition from 2016 to 2020 (when i get my pc) but i played on xbox game pass. the cape its only for who buy the minecraft or for who played?
i purchased minecraft using my parents email back in 2014 and changed the email to my own email around 2017. Then I bought bedrock edition with my own email in 2020 so I hope that lets me get the cape
I started playing Minecraft in 2012 on my PS3,
I then switched to playing on my Nintendo Switch when it released,
I then started playing on Xbox One in 2021 but I don't own the game I still use gamepass cause the code they gave me with my Xbox One S is glitched or something,
So even though I could be a veteran I probably won't get the Cape due to switching platforms and Microsoft giving me a bugged download code
I remember I had minecraft bedrock edition last year but when I got a virus and I had to wipe my stuff except personal flies minecraft wanted me to buy bedrock edition again and I don't know how to contact mojang or Microsoft about it.

I got bedrock back in 2017-2018, sometime there, but the game got refunded. I had later got it with gamepass so hopefully I can get the cape. No big deal if I can't but it would be nice.

Do I need to own both versions on the same microsoft account, or do I need to at least have logged in minecraft BE with the account that I own java on? I have Purchased Java on my main microsoft account, but I purchased BE on my dads account about 5 years ago. Will I still get the cape?
