Imagine going into this blind in 2009 and just thinking "meh needs work, probably wont go anywhere" and then in 2024 you sit they wondering how it escalated so fast.
My father was actually one of the first 100 to play. I remember the digital home video tapes he would show me of him and his friend creating an account. The account he has is long gone due to an old hard drive failure but he was the person who got me playing in 2010 and even went with me to minecon 2011. Unfortunately, I don't play anymore but I will still login periodically to see what is up. I am just stunned to see a video like this about the first Minecraft player to play. It really gives me a reminder that my dad is the reason I found the game and made so many memories on. Also great video!

I have a few questions
1. Is fartron on the early players list?
2. What user IDs are the first few people on the early players list?
1. Fartron actually isn't on the early players list - my guess is that he probably played the preclassic versions (essentially demos) but didn't make his Minecraft account until a bit later, so he didn't show up in earlyplayers.txt
2. We know eatwhitefish is 48550, but we don't have the list of all the others publicly available - user IDs can be used in nefarious ways, especially against valuable accounts, so the friends that discovered this never made the full list public. I was only given the go-ahead to talk about eatwhitefish after 3 years :p

Early players list is inconsistent. My brother and I purchased the game (well technically just paid for the ability to change our skin) in June of 2009 and neither of our names were on the list
@@m4ximumpizza Thank you! And yeah, that's why we kept the existence of userids private for so long. I don't actually have the list (the one shown in the video is for demonstration, not real data), I just know it exists. The researchers only have the list because of issues with Mojang security, so we did our due diligence waiting to cover this story until the security issue was patched :)

Damn, this just makes me realize that I've been playing this game for so damn long. Been playing since around June-July of 2009 and I still play it all the time.
Me who already knows the first Minecraft player. (It's Notch)
when markus first gave us access, there were no accounts. you also could not play on the network or online. you just clicked "start game" and that was it.
there was no creative mode, only a handful of blocks and zombies dropped feathers for some reason iirc.
there only were a few people interested in the game and we would chat with markus about what we liked and what could be improved (jumping was pretty bad i.e., like you were in space or something).
so i doubt this guy was the first player (i do not even remember this username tbh). if you are after the first account, i would guess that would have been markus himself, as he had to test the stuff.
Yeah - technically, this would be the first created account rather than the first player. There would have been people playing the demo without an account before this point, but as far as I'm concerned, Minecraft was only a demo until Notch began selling the game, so the first "player" would be eatwhitefish. It's a complicated thing to calculate haha

I think I know Xander from Wurm Online. It's the game where Notch was a co-partner before getting the inspiration for Minecraft. Xander and many others still play wurm online to this day afaik, even since before minecraft. That game is a piece of art

The next layer of progression after tools and armor:
Accessories:
It Increases player’s stats like hit points, block reach, jump hieght, inventory slots… . An Additional heart icons will appear for the player.
Accessories are crafted with blocks of ore (blocks of diamond, iron…) and unique loot from epic dungeons.
They have levels just like tools and armor according to the ore it’s made of, just like armor and tools.
They are spread through the dimension they are useful for, for example to craft the one who extends block reach, one should go to caves(trail chambers), adding inventory slots -> the end, adding breath points/bubbles oceans and adding hit points/hearts -> warden dimension… .

cuz I was also kinda early on in the testing pool trying to get minecraft working on android 0.9 builds and an old nokia phone that just happened to run java
When minecraft released webpage version (alpha or what) I played that and get bored soon. At the time, I didn't realize that the game would be as successful as it is today, and that it would continue to be fascinating due to mods from other creators! Yeah, I feel like an old man.

I came back for a month or two back in 2020 and played with an F Top faction but it was just so boring, not like it used to be
I actually have a lot of copys of the game cuz my family and i bought a lot of minecraft disc for xbox and Playstation over five years ago with my most recent minecraft disc being at least five or for years old with my other cases and disc being over and around 8 and 9 years old and i was literally 5 years old when i started playing the game i can't say anything else

I render in 1080p60 at 28MBPs (mainconcept avc1 nvenc preset). Make sure to record in a higher FPS (I use 240) and smart resample down to 60 for that sweet motion blur :)
