Happy Hogtober everyone! Hope you enjoy today's episode, it's a pretty special snake and an animal that I've wanted to show y'all for a while now. A bunch of you correctly guessed that today's episode would feature a hognose snake so congratulations to those who got it right, I forgot to put your comment screenshots in the video but you know who you are. I'm cooking up some more videos featuring a few familiar species and some new arrivals to the channel to round out the year, and I think I'll be dropping the last two episodes of the Wild Japan series before Christmas. Thanks for all your feedback and support as I've continued to adapt my content style these past few months, I always appreciate seeing your comments and want you to know you are helping me become a better educator and content creator! Stay safe and keep adventuring everywhere, -Ben Zino
I am partial to Heterodon and have a sassy captive bred Western. I follow Project Simus as well as their UA-cam channel and they are doing great work. Although not focused on Hognose snakes, the Orianne Society is another group who I think are doing great work on conservation. Keep up the great work Ben!
Definitely a fascinating species. I have not yet had the privilege of finding a hognose in the wild. I am excited for the next episode. Was that a southern devil scorpion?
Wow that adult was beautiful! I absolutely love hognoses, but I haven’t had the pleasure of seeing a southern hognose yet. Lots of great information in this one, your new style is developing very nicely. I really need to come hit the southeast more often. Great work!
Thanks Harrison, appreciate the style feedback! Still adapting as we go and seeing what seems to work the best. Yes you absolutely should, maybe this spring?
At the very least we’ll try for eastern hognoses this spring, in 2024 I want to figure out PA herping a bit more. Georgia and north Florida are high on our list though. In terms of style updates that I’ve noticed, I’ve been enjoying how succinct the adventures are, you’ve created a very digestible series that I think does a good job of making the information that you do provide feel accessible and memorable, it’s very interesting without being overwhelming, and that contributes to a very viewer-friendly runtime, which is something I need to practice more.
I guessed it! Thanks for sharing so much information with us Ben. You are a true master at your trade. Have a great one amigo! 👍👍👌 🐍 No idea what type of scorpion that is, but I see some almost daily here in central Texas on the ranch I work on, you have to be cautious with every thing you pick up. 😅

@@tkreitler Those are both amazing organizations, I'm hoping to feature some of their work in future videos!
This video cured me of something, I feel...like everything is going to be okay now. Nice find, can't go wrong with a simus.
I'm so glad this video helped you cure your fear of snakes, I know they were really scary for you before. Agreed, they're so tiny and charismatic.
Hognosesnakes are by far my fav. They are so adorable 🥰
Yeah they are ridiculously cute.
very cute, love it.
Thank you very much for the sharing
Glad you enjoyed, they are such special snakes!

Great video Ben! Hognose’s are pretty awesome!
Thank you, indeed they are!
Great video as always Ben! The Hognose would have to be my second favorite snake! They are just too flipping cute!
Thank you! They are indeed unreasonably cute.
👍Great video Ben I didn't know that they didn't get any bigger than 12 to 24 inches. Keep the videos coming my friend. 👍❤️
Thanks Walter. will do!
Awesome video ! Thanks Ben for posting and teaching all of us about these species. Very well documented and awesome footage.
Thanks a bunch, glad you enjoyed!

Yeah you were on point with your guess! Thanks for the kind words. Oh yeah the Southwest has WAY more scorpions than the Southeast.
Very informative. I don't think there is a cuter snake..
Thanks! Yeah it'd be hard to convince me otherwise.
💚
Don't ask question. Just consoom toad and get excited for next toad.
Great video 👍. Looks like it’s not aggressive and not venomous for us. IDK
Thank you! Yep they pose no threat to humans :)
@@TheWildReportOfficial thx 👍
So do they bluff bite like the other species or do they across bite in defense?
Almost all bluff biting with hogs!
