It would be cool to see a Burger King franchisee give this location another shot and reopen this place keeping the old school look inside and with the original B.K. logo signage it once had. I believe people would go there once again, especially for the nostalgia of it.

In the words of my lecturer of interpersonal communication, "Words have no meaning, except the meaning you assigned to them."
The common consensus is that the word, terrifying, conjures an image of a shocking reaction to the presence of a thing, event or person that elicits a negative perception.
Most of us disagree with the word, "terrifying", because there is nothing sinister about a place that is only accessible at a particular time, and at a particular place. It is only terrifying when someone decides to bulldoze this interior design artifact and nobody has built a time machine yet to go back to a time where people find.

So, to add clarity, it wasn't "lost" or "forgotten", the mall management and mall employees were always aware of it, it only closed in 2009. The guy who "discovered" it was a contractor doing renovation work at the mall and decided to go wandering and see what else his key opened, and publicized it. The mall had been actively trying to rent out the space since the Burger King closed, but there was no interest from tenants, its not the only space to become vacant there since 2009, and if you just want to open a retail store, its easier to do that in a space that was a retail store, instead of having to gut a kitchen and restaurant fixtures. The reason it closed was because Burger King corporate mandated all franchises renovate to the new corporate design by the middle of 2008, this one wasn't doing enough business to justify the cost, the franchise owner got some extensions on the deadline, but ultimately decided to close down in 2009 rather than do the required redecoration. In the meantime, the mall management had been using it as storage space.

I agree with History-Secrets.. as an 80s kid, I would love to see what a Burger King looked like before they upgraded the restaurant Decor. Whoever gets the space, have the space inspected, take note on what needs a TLC Repair, but keep it as it is, so that way it can be a nice historical space and a unique tourist attraction to the mall. More malls need things like that to stay in business, Think of the Burger King/Concord Mall licensed souvenirs that could be sold out of the space, the mall and Burger King could benefit from selling them out of a Nostalgic space.

I remember some malls and shopping centers in the SE Pennsylvania, South Jersey, and Northern Delaware were slow in 2008-2009 because of the financial crisis. Some of them recovered in 2010, but started to dwindle again years later because of online shopping options. It maybe 15 years since I last stop at Concord Mall. It is not a convenient place to shop unless you live nearby or if you regularly travel on US 202 near the PA/DE border. While I would expect Concord Mall to dwindle over the last 13 years, it is negligent for mall management to not know that a significant retail space was walled off, unoccupied, and never repurposed over the same period.
