The thing I love about this execution so much is the fact that it was done in public to discourage piracy, but Roger ended up starting the one era that the marines wanted to avoid with a few sentences.

Zoro is Gold D Roger's son because Roger got lost and saw the future seeing Zoro finding the one piece.

They gave off the aura of being hardcore professionals. The kind of people who would view executing the king of the pirates as 'just another job'.
They'll also be the guys who are remembered as failures who couldn't stop a single guy from reigniting the spirit of pirates.

@@ninjaslash52_98 Yes, but, the intention of them executing him in public was to ward off further action from pirates. By giving him the opportunity to speak and motivate those in attendance, they only achieved the opposite effect.
@@carllipsey1497 It's hardly their failure that Roger was able to answer a question yelled from the crowd. If the World Government wanted then they could have executed Roger in secret or muzzled him but they paid the price for trying to make a spectacle of it.
While this scene is beautifully reanimated, I must admit I have one gripe. The emotionless and mute guards. They create 2 wonderful points in the original flashback from Smoker.
1. When they ask for his final words Roger asks to have his cuffs removed because they are chaffing, which is great for showing how relaxed he is.
2. Both while the onlooker is asking and during Roger’s speech they are telling everyone to be quiet and try to speed up the execution to shut Roger up. Their inability to control both the crowd and Roger best shows that even though it was his execution, Roger was in complete control.

I like the old VA too for Roger as well as mihawk. His old voice truly sounded like that of a fearsome person RIP. Not only that everything they reanimated feels so rushed. In the original they would leave you hearing nothing but the tolling of the bell for like 30 seconds, made it surreal like an event that really would change the entire world
What is really awesome beside the execution is that they kept the same song from almost 800 episodes ago, gives me chills every time I listen to it.
you know, this was emotional. we see this exact moment in one piece back in 1999. and now that we know and came through this journey, knowing all these new characters which all ends up at this exact moment seeing roger saying his signature words. IT HITS ME.
This scene hits different after we followed roger's journey in this flashback!! One Piece is a special kind of story.
There is a rumor that One Piece is actually that. The Story of Joyboy and the Void Century itself might the be the literal One Piece, and the treasure is there for treasure's sake. Which is clever given that it's the title of Luffy's story.

I feel bad for Shanks and Buggy. Not only they lost their captain, they lost a father figure.
Notice how he laughs before he speaks, and when he found “laughtale” he named the island precisely, because he thought what he found there was really funny. I really think that when the straw hats get to laughtale we’re gonna come back to this clip and be like “oda sensei did it again”

All this time, I'm 100% positive Roger was gloriously thinking of one final way of how he can troll the marines before he's executed. And this guy straight up set him up beyond dreams than he could've ever dared to imagine.
Yeah the troll factor in all of this is the fact only joyboy will be able to actually use one piece so everyone else just waste their time. That's what i assume

Its great that after this many episodes it brings us right back to the nostalgia of episode 1 in a sense.

It's interesting in this very moment he was executed. There are over like, 50 pirates whos bounty are above 100 million but they don't cause havoc. They just watched in the sidelines and hear what Roger has to say and be executed. Then what they heard. Was a start line of finding one piece.
It says a lot about Roger that ALL of those notable figures respected him enough to simply watch quietly as history was made.
The only one who tried to cause a scene over Roger's execution was Shiki and that 1 v 2 resulted in the near destruction of Marineford.

@@corjonbett Dragon of all people was there so obviously the World Government wasn't interested in checking IDs for this execution. Almost everyone shown on-screen had a serious criminal record at the time of Roger's execution whether they were officially pirates yet or not.
I still find it interesting we don't see what a younger Crocodile looks like here, despite seeing all the other faces of other noteworthy pirates. Still holding out on the (fun) theory of Crocodile being Luffy's mother lol

@@bigbangpegasusmaster No, many people get confused between the ideas of duels and one fight. I'm pretty sure there was this youtuber once that thought Shanks only fought Mihawk once. But Moria was able to DUEL with Kaido, that means he was equal to him. But then Kaido fought Moria once again when he was in Wano, and Moria lost. My theory was that Kaido learned how to use advanced conqueror's haki in his last fight with Moria, which allowed him to beat Moria.
@@justluck5970 Nowhere did it say Moria and Kaido used to duel. Moria says Kaido recked his crew when they went to fight him, and everyone died. There were no multiple matches, just a single slaughter. Which is why Moria is so afraid of Kaido

I don't think you're far off. I think the real treasure is the world becoming one sea (one piece) by destroying mariejois, and reverse mountain (dividing the world) and the calm belts with the ancient weapons. The real treasure is freedom. X marks the spot at reverse mountain and there's an x in the map itself. That's where the final battle will happen and Luffy will punch someone through the mountain itself to destroy it, unite with Laboon, Sanji getting his ”all blue” dream accomplished in the meantime too.
Oh also joyboy was apologizing to the fish people because that place would have to be destroyed in order to have a true and free one piece of ocean/water mass

Assuming that Roger didn't inmediately die after being stabbed, it would mean that he could hear all the people screaming excited about the One Piece
As he passed away, he could see and hear the birth of the New Era that he created
I believe in one of the latest gold d Roger death scenes, it showed them screaming immediately as he is stabbed and him slowly watching and listening. Plus your hearing is the last thing that goes so he must've heard the mayhem, scientifically speaking.
They are gonna find One Piece and it's going to be a picture of his crew with a camera to add yours.

I think sometimes it's just a big mirror or a clear reflecting lake. And that the message would be that the greatest treasure they can find is themselves. The friends/family who came with them all the way there, having adventures and laughs and all the journey. Plus maybe some gold yea 😁😁

My guess is that One Piece is not only the treasure, but the concept of what it is. Rodger and his crew were brothers in arms, family thru and thru in all but blood. The treasure is real, the true treasure is the adventure to find it. The fullfilment of ones dreams for adventure and freedom on the open sea. Luffy and crew our on their way, he will gain the title, add to the treasure and pull like Rodger and pass the dream on to the next generation.

I respect this, but you just can't top the original scene. That laugh still gives me chills to this day, with the way it echoed and drowned out any and all sound in the plaza. And the panic and shock from the executioners is just icing on the cake.

Back during the very early parts of the anime they shown this scene before and during his speech to that guy’s question they told Roger to shut up and hastily executed him when he ignored them
Notice how we don’t see Crocodile’s face at the two times he is shown, maybe, he was Croco-mom at the time.

I’ve seen a theory that Crocodile is a transgender man and this takes place before transitioning, and some even expand upon it further saying she’s Luffy’s mother too.
