When Serg posts a new Gigeresque shmup nobody’s ever heard of you know it’s gonna be a good day. Damn some of those attacks look hard to dodge, particularly the laser station’s barely visible heat seeking cube and the ball spaceship’s laser grid.
It's been ages since I last played and completed this shooter, I had forgotten how ridiculous the bosses looked! Only the final Boss looks menacing and sinister and does the game justice!
One of the best made 16-bit shmups made, unfortunately it was only released in Japan for the SEGA Mega Drive. Maybe someday, Eliminate Down will be re-released for the Nintendo Switch just like Gleylancer.
the ending kinda remind me of the ending of battleship. you face against the final boss, you beat it, but you also beaten down, with nothing left. the boss send its last attack to specifically destroy you out of spite. but then the help finally arrived, and assure you that they will bring you back home.
I loved this one. Not sure if the people behind it did any other titles. I'd really hate to collect all these games now...ED is one of those $800+ games. That's Insane. Mid/late 90s was a really good time to get all the 8-bit and 16-bit stuff dirt cheap. Early 2000s were good to stock up on 32-bit games. Got Japanese MD, SFC, SAT (and DC) fullsets this way...without sacrificing a firstborn or selling vital organs. 😅 I've given up on the PS & PS2 fullset long ago... just too much crap to collect. 😅
mars guardian design be like lets make a ship that has this balls that zones the enemy ship inside it, and while they are inside the area, we use this tiny laser cannon that shoots every few seconds......, instead of using the balls to shootthem while they are inside the circle

OMG I love the organic stage themes, stage 2-2, 1-2, 1-1, and the miniboss theme. Those buff tower boss torsos are the most fun to fight.
