Season 2 is incredible. It has Omar in court, McNulty undercover at the brothel, D'angelo's prison murder, Avon slaughtering inmates with the bad package, the introduction of The Greek, first appearance of Bunny Colvin, Brother Mouzone's showdown with Omar, Fuzzy Dunlop, the tragic downfalls of Ziggy and Frank. S2 causes a huge shock as we are jolted away from the corners but its essential to understand how Baltimore is infected with drugs on every level. And the decline of the docks shows how post-industrilisation left the city's working class with no where to go, thus drugs fill people's lives. But ultimately I'll defend S2 because the characters and plot of S2 stand alongside the best of The Wire. Inferior my arse!
I'd say its a step down, but still a lot better than a lot of TV out there. It's sort of a testament to how good The Wire is. Even its "worst" is still amazing.

Rainbow and Speckled/Brook Trout are sometimes served whole or nearly whole, bones-in, and you can roll the meat off the bones and sometimes lift out the entire skeleton. But Lake Trout, which are usually larger and more salmon-sized are typically filleted and served like salmon. You can either use pliers/ heavy tweezers/ hemostat to pull the Y-bones out, or remove that slender section completely with a knife. Lake Trout Y-bones are notoriously stiff and can be dangerous to swallow or ingest.
Given the actual fish used and its similarity to other mild white fish, anyone expecting something like Haddock and then eating virtually any trout is going to be very disappointed. Trout is quite oily and rich. It's much more intensely flavoured than most white fish.

You should, it's really fucking good. Like babish mentioned, the second season isn't all that great, but the other four are amazing especially the last two.
People seem to miss the importance and establishing factors of season 2. It is incredibly good, and essential to what The Wire is all about. I think people just complain because it's not what they thought they were going to get. But in hindsight, you get exactly what was needed!
MauiWowieOwie without season 2 we would not understand how so much drugs get into Baltimore or even know about The Greek and Sprios. But perhaps most importantly it sets up the fallout between Avon and Stringer.
I think it's because it broke away from the street life and went to the docks. For many people like me, it was a completely unknown culture. I loved it, but some people may not find it as 'cool' as the streets. Plus the whole Avon plot was sidelined, and people may have been waiting for answers.
It was honestly jarring for me first when I was so invested in the Barksdale story and we're suddenly in the docks. But then I got invested in Sobotka's story 😋
Hi Babish, about the trouts. I have a small story. A while back when I was visiting my father's friends around this lake I was served a similar fish from the lake. I don't know the name of this fish however these guys were all hunters. They hunt various birds depending on the season and they're locals of the region. Anyhow, They explained that to be able to eat this fried fish with its bones intact you need to cut 45 degree slices onto it to make a diamond pattern. Once the fish were out of the frier all the bones were brittle enough to be chewed on. Maybe you can try that some time. Much love from Utrecht!

Rend Alsabba thx for making my PC screen dirty...

And the giant noodle they hit people with and everything Sunny cooks
man, I still haven't watched The Wire, i need to get on that shit.
But perhaps most importantly it sets up the fallout between Avon and Stringer.
yea..you bn sleeping too fuckin long bro. grab season 1 and get enthralled from there
If you can get through the first episode you will be hooked.
But one of the most memorable scenes from The Wire was the crab scene.
Charmanderaznable you gonna waste that crab gut?
I never would have guessed that you filmed that late, your studio lighting looks very natural
Why's everyone dogging on season 2? I thought it was great.
Too many white people
@@blue3870 that’s a bit racist
I think it's because it broke away from the street life and went to the docks. For many people like me, it was a completely unknown culture. I loved it, but some people may not find it as 'cool' as the streets. Plus the whole Avon plot was sidelined, and people may have been waiting for answers.
It was honestly jarring for me first when I was so invested in the Barksdale story and we're suddenly in the docks. But then I got invested in Sobotka's story 😋
Because Ziggy is just the worst
holy shit I would have never thought you would have done an episode on The Wire
Jon Smith I found babish last week in the suggestion after I decided to listen to the wire intro song at the gym lol
Do the best burger in NYC from How I Met Your Mother
I'd love to see that too
YES!!!
@The Next Douglass Bubbletrousers And you got our wedding vows off the internet...
NICE, HE DID IT!
Don’t say the dock season is inferior! It sets up the Greek and shows that the game is played at several levels and has layers. It’s important!
wow no scrapple? i think mcnulty mentions it like 3 seperate times
I would not put it past BWB to make scrapple from scratch, but it's an investment in time and offal.
"And can I have an order of scrapple too. You can have anything you like."
5:12 isn't that around bedtime?
"Kind of weak season two"?!?! How dare you, good sir! Great video as always though.
Coming from Baltimore, this puts a smile on my face 🥹
Hi Babish, about the trouts. I have a small story. A while back when I was visiting my father's friends around this lake I was served a similar fish from the lake. I don't know the name of this fish however these guys were all hunters. They hunt various birds depending on the season and they're locals of the region. Anyhow, They explained that to be able to eat this fried fish with its bones intact you need to cut 45 degree slices onto it to make a diamond pattern. Once the fish were out of the frier all the bones were brittle enough to be chewed on. Maybe you can try that some time. Much love from Utrecht!
Season 2 was really well done and had a well rounded story arc.
Season 2 is the best in the series.
Why would you want to freeze the fries before frying all the way through? 2:37
