I'm a 47 year old man who is straight as an arrow. But that damn Jon Hamm seems like the best friend we all wish we had. Great interview/conversation. Bill great episode as always.
Why does being a straight man have anything to do with wishing someone was your friend?
@@glengamble526 don't worry about it... live your life bro... dont Inject yourself into someone else's values
Here we go. Everyone argues now lol. Can't we all just get along
@@glengamble526 8:53 right there Glen. Right there.
@@glengamble526 Because deep down he’s attracted to Jon.
What I loved about this talk was that John knows how to talk with Bill. I love Bill to pieces but he can ramble and often not give his guests enough time to express themselves. John knows when to insert himself and keep the convo a bit more on equal grounds.
Mahar has turned into a maga but love Hamm.
Bill needs Jesse Ventura!

Seriously, what the hell has happened to Maher?
You nailed it!
i like hows johns optimism is so magnetic.. that it even pulls maher out of his cynical dark abyss
Never seen Bill as respectful and genuinely responsive as this; i think Hamm, clearly intelligent and informed as he is, did his subject research on Bill in 'club random mode' and formed a game-plan for actually having a meaningful discussion with someone he respects without the default quick-fire sarcastic opposition and wilful misunderstanding-interruptions from the host. loved this one.
man crush
Totally agree 😊
The best yet. Hamm is a great conversationalist, not overbearing, thoughtful, very likeable and intelligent. Two hours flew by. What other show in the internet or anywhere can sit someone down for two hours and just jabber back and forth with laughter, thoughtfulness, and keep one's attention? Bravo Bill.

*Jon is very reasonable person. Well spoken, understands the issues and understands what he doesn't understand. We need more level-headed people like him.
Bill could learn a few things from him, if only he’d listen
It’s a real mad man time… idk
Jon Hamm is a Pisces. Mahar is an Aquarius.
*Jon
Glad to see Bill isnt using his hands to put ice in his guests glass after the Kat Timpf debacle. lol
This is the best version of this show. Jon Hamm is a great hang.
Missed booking the Vegas trip. Next round maybe🤩
Tune in to Club Random when Bill has guest Woody Harrelson and Mark Cuban. Very entertaining. But some of Bill's guest were very boring and seemed like they were FULL of themselves. Gene Simmons & John Mellencamp were pretty disappointing. I don't think they even laughed once.
Don Draper was the role of a lifetime for any actor.
And Hamm nailed it. Great cast and amazing show

I almost skipped this episode with preconceived notion that John Hamm was just a good looking, successful but dumb influential person. I was wrong...he's so well spoken, can talk like a normal person and isn't trying to impress Bill. Loved it.

@@christinemaney2294 no way bro. Who wouldn't want to stay 16 years old for life? Maher is clever enough to actually pull it off
Jon knows exactly how to "yes, and" masterfully which made this conversation flow smoothly (despite Bill's constant mid-thought interruptions).
Bill is sooooo much better/focused/insightful when he's marginally sober.
So he NEVER IS. 😅
He's not marginally sober. He's just a smart, inquisitive and fun to be with. ; )

The man, the myth, the, legend Jon Hamm. Well done
This episode is superb. Jon Hamm is a great guest. Very smart guy like Bill. You need to have him on the show whenever the strike ends. If ever.
Was I the only one wishing he was going to ask for an Old Fashioned?
Don Draper's drink.
First drink ever ordered in Mad Men.
He's sober.
My grandparents always had old fashions. And finally when I was in college, and went home for Thanksgiving, and went up to visit them, they kept offering me old fashions, which I politely accepted , but would dump them out in the indoor plants when they weren’t looking.

"I'm engaged with life" is Jon Hamm all the way. That's exactly why he's so knowledgeable, empathetic, and entertaining.
Jon is a naturally funny person. Quick wit and observant. The guy who can keep up with any conversation , especially with Bill Maher who seems to know something about everything. Good talk.
Well, Bill THINKS he knows something about everything....
Yes, Bill Maher thinks he knows everything. Which he does know a lot, I'll give him that. However, he interrupts his guest much more when he's drinking. I think he has low self esteem. He has some issues and they certainly come out. I don't think he should down the democrats the way he does. They are the caring party....certainly not the Magas.
@@thepoptartethat's just Bills personality as a Talk HOST for so long yet it's more controlling the conversations when he's drinking & smoking. He certainly should LEARN to listen more to HIS GUEST. I’ve never seen so many men gushing over another man than in this comment section. It’s kind of adorable, you guys.
Yes! I never knew guys loved jon hamm this much. It’s cute.
I was a big fan of "Mad Men." very clever series. It took several years for Jon Hamm to win an Emmy for Don Draper. I will never forget him when he crawled up on stage to collect his "too long in coming" Emmy award.
Jon Hamm is such a Chad that there's no way Maher could dominate the conversation the way he always tries to. I could have listened to 8 hours of this.
Man, I was just thinking the other day how great it would be if Jon Hamm would be in Bill's podcast. I open youtube and I see this. My day = MADE!
One of the best interviews and Jon incidentally exposes some of Bill's blind-spots e.g. hostility to therapy also Bill has his usual tendency to go into professor mode and start lecturing people as if they don't know anything, classily JH politely lets him rant. Surprised Bill had never come across Bill Bryson before.
Jon Hamm is a good Interviewer.
exactly.
Please bring John back this was such a great conversation! I could’ve listened to another 2 hrs. Two regular guys just talking about real stuff and no bs❤
I mean everything they said about the writers strike was childishly stupid
Maybe on the return Bill will close his pie hole and let Jon finish a thought!
Please don’t do that to Mr. Hamm.
Actually there's a lot of BS ❤.
And JON Hamm is pretty smooth.
Best Club Random so far. Jon Hamm is such a great guest selection!
Jon Hamm gets two hours, influencers an hour. Some justice in the world.
Influencers are boring as fuck 🤣🤣
As a self proclaimed influencer I take offense
Bill’s audience don’t give a shit about influencers. They’re talentless hacks who attain their title by virtue of their personality. Which is usually best described as douchbag. Young people are into douchebags, older people appreciate talent and intellect.
Influencers don't have these conversations
You realize quite quickly that most of them have nothing to say.
This was terrific! Jon is so smart and funny. So well rounded, love to see someone so comfortable talking about such a wide range of topics.
He's an imbecile. Maybe America being homogeneous and having a high tax rate and great public spaces as he described in Mad Men all go hand in hand. But he wants white guys (Jews excluded I'm sure) to take a social backseat to gay guys and foreigners so we have none of the socialist benefits and order but all the oppressive taxes. Dime a dozen Hollywood libtard trying not to get canceled. Imagine being rich, looking like that, and having the politics of Rob Reiner or a 50 year old lesbian on Prozac.
Wow! Great stuff! I love when Jon Hamm uses the James Brown comparison. He's a witty dude. AND, he speaks sensibility about therapy. Thank you, Mr Hamm!
Wonderful episode!!! Jon Hamm is a brilliant conversationalist. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I didn’t think I wanted to watch this episode…it just started running after the last one ended…but I couldn’t bring myself to turn it to something else. I watched the whole video totally captivated by JH. I’m a fan!!!
Great episode. I have always found Mr. Hamm interesting. Nice to get another insight to his intellect. You have the most interesting and diverse guest list. BTW Sometimes I love ya Bill and sometimes you make me f..king crazy but I can always count on your shows to upgrade both my intellect and my perspective. Please don't ever retire ☺
bill goes on and on about age-ism and then throws martha stewart under the bus immediately
Doesn't SOUND like Bill 😅
I am convinced Bill has dementia. His arguments are so stupid he cant possibly still live in reality. It's obvious the only time and the only reason for his ageism complaint is when it's self-serving. Yet, he is notorious for not touching a woman with a ten foot pole if she's older than 39. He's basically an old fart arguing young people should listen and young women should fuck him, because otherwise it's ageist.
lol
If Martha Stewart is attractive enough to be on a magazine cover, all the power to her.
That’s Bill. Contradicting himself constantly.
Absolutely one of the best podcasts we could listen to these two talk for hours
the percentage of Bill vs Guest was waaay off from previous episodes and it was a breath of fresh air, John held the points at every step. Great episode

And Bill claimed it took from 1973 til 2006 to forget about this girl breaking up with him. He said once he was 50, he didn't think about April 7 anymore. Since he was born in 1956, that would have been when he turned 50.

John! John! People are not freaked out or scared in the Midwest. Some people want to believe they are scared. That’s a problem. Love you two guys.
Agreed, that was the only real main thing I completely disagreed with. Never once in all my life have I seen a Midwesterner act afraid or negatively towards someone of a different race. Generally polite friendly people.
I think it may be because John meant Missouri where he's from, but I don't suspect many of us up in Iowa/Illinois/Wisconsin, etc.. consider Mizzourah the Midwest, more so the South. But i guess it kinda is. Wikipedia thinks so and I can see it seems to be so on the map. I guess it may depend a lot on which part.
Yeah I live in the Midwest and I’m puzzled by what he said about racism. I just do not come across these scared racist whites like he claims exists all over the area. Are there racists? Sure but there are racists in all groups . It’s so tired to just blame one group is guilty of it. It’s not only wrong but silly and ignorant
True. I'm not freaked out at all.
Well maybe they aren't freaked out, but why did Johnson running for re- election in Wisconsin significantly darken opponent Mandela's skin color in his campaign videos if he didn't think appealing to racism- see this VERY scary Black dude- would help him? Attended the UW- Madison Graduation last month where two Black students were given time to speak on their difficulties with the racism they had encountered while studying there. And Madison is as liberal as it gets.
Rural areas in the Midwest??

Yeah, they said they filmed this on Friday, just not which Friday. Unless they meant the head guy that owns CNN, and he still might be just as bad. If you get rid of Reliable Sources for exposing the right-wing media lies because it might start reporting on CNN shows, that is a problem.
This was such a kiss the boss's ass moment. Too bad it was all for naught! 😆🤣😆

then your not very perceptive. its never really a conversation with Bill..... just ongoing narcissistic led whining and revenge tinted sarcasm.
he has to be the center of attention ..... he certainly does have some truths to share, as we all do, Burt the vibe always leaves me with the feeling that HE is more he focus of the show instead of the guests. Some are insanely good , some are twits, but he sill has them on just because they have a recognizable name (for no real reason or talent or intellect)... that 1 influencer women for example-sorry, don't remember her name (rather pretty with dark hair) but a complete Air-head ! So, different from his TV show - where he is not STONED on something..... he does say that this podcast is a release to be uninhibited - relax and let go, but it slides down every time with him into resentment and self-importance. Its like he is really just having a guest there to bounce off of.
the stupor doesn't help .... seems like he never learns anything about himself - guess he does not look at them afterwards or even read all the comments like these - which almost all say something similar to mine.
