I just sold my SL32SX to get the 2400. Soooooo glad I did. The Presonus is great but overkill. I could never remember the routing and I ended up spending more time figuring out routing for all inputs / outputs with 48 channels of patch bays and 2 racks of 500 series modules. This is perfect. Easy routing. I use Luna so DAW integration wasn't a selling point. This Tascam and the Console 1 mkIII system fits every need for me without excess.
I'll never understand why none of the big companies never add a HDMI output to there porta studios so you can use a monitor...I remember Roland had one in there 1824 almost 20 years ago.
It could be a cost thing, just having an HDMI is great, but then you need to include video chips to show the stuff on the screen. I'm still hoping that there will be a firmware update for the other model versions that'll include the ability to use the display app that they've made for the Model 2400.
Main out will give me master bus processing with outbound gear. The inserts could be helpful. 5 aux also very good for outbound. My presonus 32s and nsb 32.16 are looking dead in the water.
I’m using a ART MPA PRO (MK1) (from the main out L/R) into a AudioScape Buss Comp into a DP-03 for printing the final mix. The DP-03 I have connected to my TC Electronic Clarity M so I can see my LUFS level and frequency spectrum while mastering. I really hope they do add the individual track level screen off of the usb out with the next firmware update instead of straining my eyesight with the small built in screen as you stated. I do use the clarity M currently while tracking but that individual channel display would be very helpful to have for recording at the beginning stage. Hope they can do it for us Model 24 owners.🤞🏼
Great video! I have the 16 and I want to go up to the 2400 and there's a lot of things I can do with this especially if I connect it to my mpcx. I already have a lot of analog gear Can't wait till it come out all ready Put my name on Pre-Order list Sweetwater
@seangooden4746 If you're planning to use it as an interface for the MPC X, standard edition, good luck. If you read the forums, the model 12 has many problems when being used as an interface for the MPC. The MPC X SE might fair better because it has double the ram but the bottom line is that the buffer rate can't be changed. Many people are experiencing clicks and other audio defects along with dropouts. I have an MPC One. I loved the model 12 with it at first. Until I started experiencing some of the problems, especially when I added more tracks. I use mine while working with some live instrumentation for hip-hop music. And if I only have a few tracks, I'm all right. But if I add more than 10 it drops out. I don't know how the model 2400 is gon. Na be helpful to you if the model 12 struggles. The whole point is to be able to add more audio tracks recording at the same time.
I'm old school I'll use my outbord gear mic pres compressor eq's and mastering it anolog then record it directly to my cd recorders I wont use a daw because I don't want to or have to😅
Do you have to sacrifice a channel strip for the aux returns? Seems a shame that they didn't include aux returns on the back - or have I missed something?
@@davidallen6128 Ah. Yes, I think those days are over. It is easier to link into DAWs through MIDI and USB then it is to keep doing what we could do on the DP24/32. Maybe the next release will be a DP update. Who knows.
Are you talking about DAW controls? I hope that was a typo because your "expert" opinions just dropped substantially. Yes, I read later, like a week later about the DAW controls. It's still not as extensive as the Model 12 which is a fully integrated DAW controller.
This one seems to be expecting the user to have external FX's. They could probably expand that new computer interface and add in new settings for new internal effects.
Off topic question.....I have Spotify on my phone.....is there a bluetooth device that will allow my phone to play through my little mixer so I can play drums along to songs?
I finally got a chance to read a few spec sheets on this. In my head I was like - if I want it, I'll just get it. But there's not enough here to justify it! Transport controls are only play and record? They didn't bother to get the fader controls worked in? (That I know of). They took my RCA's and 1/8 inch of the useless channel. Now it's REALLY the useless channdel for me. I still hate the combined stereo tracks 13/14, 15/16 etc. The remote meter app is kinda cool, wish the M24 had it. I appreciate it's got more I/O for outboard gear. More inserts if you're into that - I'm not - I never insert outboard that way. I think they went to the wrong way with this thing- and I can't justify the extra $1200+ over the M24.
Yeah, there are some interesting new things, but a lot of the software changes could've been done with a firmware update on the Model 24. Don't call it the useless channel, you'll get attacked. I probably won't waste my money on it. Like I said, If I get the studio that I want, then I would be more likely to buy it.
The blue tooth channel is not useless and never heard of it being called the useless channel. I think you just made that up. Just remember when keeping it professional try not to put your own bad habbit terms out there, may be your opinion mostly which i wouldn't go so heavy with it.
I guess you are new to this channel. I'm not the only one who feels the Bluetooth track is useless. At least now they gave it standard TRS inputs so that you can plug something in instead of the RCA jacks found on the other Model versions.
I agree with the other person who comments this is not a useless Channel and is it is the most common stereo channel people use to playback from DAW. It is very handy alive when you want to play music between sets and in the studio it is perfect to play reference tracks from a phone so maybe you should be a little bit more open-minded realizing this board can be used in many ways and in many settings.
I have a model 24. The Bluetooth channel sounds like crap when something is plugged into it, so I don’t use it at all. I’ve never actually used the Bluetooth since I don’t need it. It’s just a wasted channel for me
This is a multi track recorder first and foremost. It makes its bread and butter on being that very thing. If they’re gonna say that it’s a 2400 then it should have 24 single channel strips not 12. Furthermore it should only have two at most three stereo channel strips. Finally if you want to add the useless channel do it at the end and set it up so that it could be used as a regular channel strip.
Why not research the subject in depth before putting such a fumbling video up online? This was hard work to watch and had no information about the mixer that wasn't already available from the Tascam website
I'm sorry that you had to suffer through my video and I'm glad that you are part of the 1% who actually go to the company's website and read what they have. I went your channel and only saw a picture of a woman most likely have a crush on. This has been a very successful video for me and many people did find it helpful. I think I'll keep doing what I'm doing and you can keep doing what you are doing. Thanks again!
The footswitch engages the punch in Punch-Out feature and the click track input engages The click track what's another footswitch plugged into it Jesus dude get your facts straight
Thanks for the comments, as stated at the beginning, I don't have a Model 2400 in my possession to try out. If I did it would've been a more in depth video. I know what the footswitch does, it is the same on the other Model series, you can change the settings on it to do other stuff too. Since I have a Model 24, the click track is new to me. I did say I'd have to look that one up.
Why are you in such a hurry to do the video when you don't even have the board especially since multiple things you have said are either inaccurate or not true for every use
You can get a presonus studio live with automation in the faders for the same price with way better DAW integration if you want to go that route.
yes but for the recording. then you need to also buy a 24 channel interface with mic pre-amps...
@@uuno.turhapuro The Studio live already has mic preamps.

I'll continue recording in my M24. I'm still learning its functions. But I might probably sell it and upgrade to the 2400 in the future.
I will as well. I really don't need any of the new functionality unless I get a larger space.
Does Tascam include a magnifying glass with the unit so you can see the tiny 2 1/2" display screen?
Sadly, no. The worst part is the screens are getting smaller and smaller with each console they bring out.

It's interesting
One correction I should make for you is that it is actually digital analog similar to the model 12 but not like the model 16 or model 24.

I don't see why they can't do that display for the Model 12, 16 and 24. I doubt there is a better processor in the 2400 so it should be possible.

I think it is out now.
Already called some places. They're not out yet. End of this month I think
I wasn't sure. Let me know what you think. It's 3100 in Canada for it.
I just got an update. Sweetwater just called me and they had one in stock so it's on its way. Great video once again

I do everything like that too except the recording it onto CDs. I'll release my stuff through streaming. I get a better response.
Do you have to sacrifice a channel strip for the aux returns? Seems a shame that they didn't include aux returns on the back - or have I missed something?
From what I recall, the Model 2400 does offer a return on the effects out, I'm not sure if it is stereo or not.
What are your thoughts on the fact that you can't buy this unit anywhere?
Hmmm...Is it because they haven't shipped them or is it because there are so many people who want them that it's causing a backlog?
It is not enough! It only has 12 sing channels and it needs 24 single channel strips! Good job on your video!
I do agree, I would rather have 24 true tracks
I enjoy your videos. You try hard to provide a good product. You do a good job. I just subscribed to your channel today.
@StoryTimePlace, thank you!
I watched 5 mins of this before I realised it's a mixer, not a new recording device. Gutted :D
No, it is a recording device as well. It is designed more for off the floor recordings

I'll see what I can find
WiiM Mini
Hosa makes a one too: hosatech.com/products/digital-audio/bluetooth-interfaces/ibt-402/
$3100 canadian WTF? 2000 US$ times canadian exchange equals $2750
What is the extra 350 for? This is B.S.
I don't know how much they are going to be in Canada yet. I haven't seen them listed anywhere but Sweetwater at this time.
