I’ve netted many dozens of fish in my life, and it’s never the same twice. Anything can happen. I was rofl when that fish tried swimming up your net handle into the boat!
Haha! When I rewatch that net job I still can't believe I landed it. I was lucky that day!

Another great Ocean Kayak Fishing!! I always want to do the same thing in the Ocean of North/West Vancouver because too far away from me fishing in the Island. But I am not sure if any coho/salmon in the Ocean of North/West Vancouver there in June/July/August, etc. If you can show me Kayak Salmon Fishing there, that increase my confidence/motivation Fishing there with my Kayak 😄😄😄
When you look out in front of west vancouver, you’ll see boats trolling fairy close to shore. There is coho there now making their way to Capilano. I’d use those boats as guide in that area and would kayak on the inside (closer to shore) of the boats, until you feel comfortable.
Get out when the winds are low so you don’t need to deal with the elements as much.
Start off easy, and keep trying and learning new things each time you get out.

When I was editing the video I noticed how many times I said “hokey dinah” (definition: exclamation of surprise or marvel). It’s a silly saying really, but I decided to name my kayak “Hokey Dinah” because of it! Your comment just affirms it even more.

I typically do, but in a kayak there can be some additional challenges or factors. He presented a quick landing and I took it, otherwise I would have been fighting him beneath my kayak where a cannon ball and line was hanging that’s easy to tangle in. Also it can be challenging to keep pressure on the fish in a kayak unlike a boat where you can keep speed up more easily. There were other factors at that moment as well. Regardless, each fish and scenario are different.
