    Stripping down the front end, Sandblasting, Painting the forks and wheels, and a little update on what is happening with the CB750 build.
    #ScramblerStreetTrackerBuild #CafeRacerBuild #CafeRacerGarage
    This series is a challenge to see if I can build a scrambler on a low budget but having a safe and cool looking scrambler bike once it's finished.
    Parts and tools I use:
    www.amazon.com/shop/caferacer...
    💥💥Music I use, TRY IT FOR FREE bit.ly/2OR9jRq - AMAZING for UA-camrs💥💥
    How this started: My good friend was watching my videos and left me a comment challenging me to build a Cheap Scrambler / Street Tracker. I asked my subscribers who wanted to see this and the response was overwhelming so I had to give it a go :)
    At the end of this build, I will be taking this bike on an adventure to go motorcycle camping where I will sit back by fire and discuss the build in a little more detail with the guy that started this challenge.
    Let's build this bike together :)
    Share your Ideas for this build buy leaving me a comment or drop a link for me to check out,
    Keep in mind this is a Budget Build :)

    I guess now I need to follow the progress on your cx?!😄. Really enjoying your videos. Cheers.

      Thank you, brother, I really appreciated It. The 750 CognitoMoto Resets Won't fit my bike unfortunately but they do make a universal set that could fit my bike, I've been in communication with them about this, I just want to see how these custom ones turn out first, they might be awesome ; -)

    Scramblers are ugly..........So here's a like and a comment for those sweeeeet rear sets! Hahaha. The people have spoken and I've been over ruled, the scrambler is here. I like the $1200 dollar budget challenge though. Thanks for sticking with it. Hopefully you can benefit from the new monetization options UA-cam is offering . Edit: Just finished the video. I need a beer, that was a lot of work. Top notch video arrangement , very entertaining . You finally kicked that tire's @$$. Well done brother.

    Man, I love this channel, it's definitely my favorite! That CB is so tuff but I also love a low budget build and it's a good change of scene. I'm new to bikes, I only just got my learner's and a bike to tinker with at the age of 28 after years of blowing LOTS of cash on building cars, thanks to yourself and a couple of other channels on here. You have a killer setup in your garage and your vids are always inspiring. Keep it up 👍🏻 ps. It looks like that front rim is cracked at the hub between each spoke, what is that?

    • @CafeRacerGarage
      @CafeRacerGarage  6 років тому

      Lachlan Gill, thank you mate, i’m a car guy as well from way back, I’ve had some very cool cars I’ve also spent loads of money on them but I do love playing on bikes now.
      The wheels you refer to our comstar alloy Wheels made by Honda, the rim is separate to the spokes and hub and held together with aircraft rivets and Ht bolts

    • @lachlangill382
      @lachlangill382 6 років тому

      Aahhh yep i think i see it. Is each spoke a separate piece but they overlap where they bolt to the hub? Cars are too expensive! I'm mucking around with an xv250 and I'd love to vlog it, but I'm not that tech savvy

    • @CafeRacerGarage
      @CafeRacerGarage  6 років тому

      yes they overlap, :) A XV250 is a cool bike brother. Yes cars can cost a lot thats for sure

    Where'd you find those tires? I'm turning my 81 GS650GL Suzuki into a scrambler. The one in my profile pic. I didn't want to have a tracker exhaust that runs underneath the bike, I'm going to run a true scrambler exhaust along the side with a thrush glasspax. I couldn't find the adaptors I needed, so I'm going to make an exhaust manifold like on a car or an old snowmobile out of a 3 or 4 inch pipe, then crome ceramic it. The ends will be capped with an adaptor on the right side to connect the exhaust pipe wrapped in tape with some heat shields on it to keep my legs from getting burnt. I don't know, what do you think?

    • @CafeRacerGarage
      @CafeRacerGarage  6 років тому +1

      haha yeah I had that song in mind when I was shooting that part of the video :)
      In regards to logging parts, I always video everything so there is no chance I will forget where things go lol but the best way to work on a bike is in sections, like the front end for eg: Take as much off as needed to get the job done, always put them back on the bike before starting the next section if you can. Its like painting a house. you just paint one room at a time until its complete before moving to the next. If you take a bike completely apart and have a box of parts it may stay that way for a very long time due to lack of motivation as the bike is not there for you to look at every day you go the garage or you just get so overwhelmed and don't know where to start. Hope that explainsa it better for you Gary

      Yes indeed :) I cant show you all my tools in one video, although that would make a good video lol My air compressor works overtime when I use that blast cabinet. Maybe I will upgrade my compressor when I start doing more blasting. Thank you for the comment brother

    • @chiefpepdesign
      @chiefpepdesign 6 років тому

      That was one of the reasons I don't have a sandblast cabinet. The cabinet is one thing, but the compressor is a whole different story. Looked like I would also have to have high voltage power current for the proper compressors... I thought 'this looks like one of those jobs to outsource!'

    • @CafeRacerGarage
      @CafeRacerGarage  6 років тому

      To be honest it needs a very big compressor to run it. I stopped many times waiting for the compressor to build up air so outsourcing is a good idea but this is a budget build so every cent counts, speaking of budget, have you got any places you buy jets from? I need to up them a bit

  • @garyyorke1619

    Because i do not have a 3 phase supply at home 415 volt , im limited to a single phase 240 volt model .the biggest i could get within my price budget was the Wolf Dakota belt drive , its a 14 cubic feet a minute with a 90 lt tank . The belt drive is a lot quieter than the direct drive models , its not an industrial version but more light trade and definitely bigger an better than a hobby one i did try a 25 lt 9.5 cfm but it was running almost constant at 80 psi in the tank ..
    Mine is by no way perfect as you say a huge industrial one would be brilliant but size cost and noise have a large part of my choice.
    I origianal built mine to blast a mates seat base for his gt380 as we couldn't find a replacement at a viable cost so i decided to build the cabinet and weld the bits back that were missing ..its the best and most appreciated tool in the shed ..its paid for itself many times over now ..
    I was told by a friend to get the biggest compressor you can afford ..

    Just a tip for the blast cabinet. .it looks like on the side you have a vent to allow the air to escape ..
    I made meself a cabinet a few years back and even with a mesh vent i found it just clouded up way way too quick so i went to the local tool stockist and got me a woodwork extractor ..just a small one about the size of a 25 lt drum ..turns out it sucks at the rate of 85 cubic feet a minute ..i have to have a 4 inch hose with a series of extra holes or it pulls the gloves off the mounts ..but its great as i can see what im doing at all times ..gaz

    • @garyyorke1619
      @garyyorke1619 5 років тому

      @@CafeRacerGarage got the idea from the bigger versions available with the built in extractor ..but couldn't get the filter cloth that easy so as im a wood machinist by trade i just utilised a drum extractor took a bit of getting used to how much suck it needed in the cabinet without pulling it inside out , it has a 4 inch inlet to the unit and ive drilled about 6 no 3/4inch holes in a tube thats set just above the outside lid so it pulls air from outside and vents the cabinet enough to pull out the dust but not pull the gloves of their mounts ..the blast media i use is garnet stone which is a brown but soon turns to dust ..only thing is to periodically check the internal filter in the extractor as that will block with the fine dust ..like most things work great but wish i built it bigger ..its 3ft wide 3 ft high and 2 ft deep well big enough for that wheel and tyre in one lol you probably could get away with a vacumn cleaner for the quick jobs but they aint designed for a long period of use ..

On the inside of the glass i used acetate sheeting as its easier to replace that rather than the glass every so often , its about a 1/2mm thick just thick enough to retain its shape without sagging and clear enough for a good few uses ..it does get scratched by the dust but it takes a while before needing changing ..regards gaz

      @@garyyorke1619 Thank you for all your help Gaz, so many good Ideas, I don't use the cabinet that often but I will like to upgrade my Air compressor to as big as possible so I don't run out of air :) What size is your compressor?

    Legendary, great to watch. Have you tried soda in your blaster? I recently had an entire engine done, rubber hoses and all. It was however wet soda. You seem to be getting excellent results - well done and keep up the great vids.

      I have tried it but its a little soft. I'm assuming the wet soda is the better way to go. Thank you for the kind words Paul

    Love the videos. Awesome work. BUT! @ 16:44 the rim comes out of the sandblaster, your discussing the condition of the bearings. I noticed that the rim is severely cracked around the hub mounting bolts! That rim does not look safe to run.

      Nick DC I know what you are saying and it does look like cracks, However, it’s the overlapping of each spoke, the Comstar wheels are all separate parts and held together with aircraft style rivets at Honda’s factory.

      I had to stare at that section of the video for a good 10 minutes. I see it. For all the time of my life that I have spent working on motorcycles. Either wire spokes, or, cast aluminium. I have never seen riveted rims before. That is awesome, I learned something new(old today. LOL

      Nick DC we only stop learning when we are dead or we think we know everything. You made me very happy that I got to teach you something new :)
      Some guys I’ve seen unbolt The rim from the spokes and hub and replace the rim with a slightly wider room to fit wider tires but requires high tensile bolts and steel locking nuts to make it safe.
      CX500 have a shaft drive so only CX or GL hubs will work And there is really no other way To keep the comstar wheels but have a wider rear tire.

    Nice job! I need to get me a sand blaster :) How big of a compressor do you run? Bearings shouldn't be expensive, no need to get OEM ones. The standard bearing code is usually in the parts number. E.g. Honda 9614063020 has 6302 in it, which is a standard bearing size and you can probably get a quality one for 10 AUD or less.

      Thank you Ekik that is super helpful :) Might take the bearings to a bearing shop and see what they have, the product number is: 961206302010 so I think you are right :) In regards to the air compressor, get the biggest one you can afford, mine is a 15 - 17CFM and it still makes me wait till it builds up enough air for me to continue blasting. The blasting cabinet is also something you want to get as big as you can afford, Its very hard to work in a small cabinet, I wouldnt go any smaller than I have right now :) this is the one I would recommend amzn.to/2Kl30mN, Not sure of your budget so I cant really recomend an air compressor but find a compressor repair shop in your area and call them to ask what compressor will be best for your budget. Any more questions just ask :)

      Cafe Racer Garage Good luck with the bearing hunt! From looking at it seems I need to get 3 phase 16A power into my garage first before getting a powerful enough compressor for blasting. Some day...

    • @CafeRacerGarage
      @CafeRacerGarage  6 років тому

      3 Phase is a little excessive I think unless you are going to use it a lot

      Cafe Racer Garage Unfortunately I can’t find any in my part of the world (Sweden) that output above 250 l/min (~9 CFM) that run on 230V. The 3-4hp ones that output 450 or so l/min (16 CFM) are all 400V...

    Did I see wrong or were the spokes cracked on the front wheel?

      Never mind. I just watched closer and realized that it's just the design of the wheel 😄

    Why all the cafe racers have low positioned Handel bars..... aren't they uncomfortable ....

    • @CafeRacerGarage
      @CafeRacerGarage  6 років тому

      wireless killer It all started back in the 50s and 60s when guys wanted to reduce wind drag on the bike as well as reducing weight. by leaning forward helps reduce the wind drag and thus makes you go faster. They didn’t have all the technical knowledge we know now but this was some of the reasons why they are so low. back then I believe they just spun the original handlebars upside down. Not all cafe races have to have clip ons or low handlebars. design it the way you like it 👍

      Cafe Racer Garage thanks mate .... I seen motorcycle with really low handlebars and seen people riding them. ...and always used to think it would be really uncomfortable to make long rides on those motorcycle
