Great job! Nice technique you used to follow the frame!
Love the build! Ride safe!
Once again Dan another master class on fabrication, it's great to hear the way you explain how you do things rather than just doing them, keep up the fantastic work mate 👍👍👍
Colin Taylor thank you mate, it’s great to know my explanation makes sense, I try and keep it simple, sometimes I shoot the same scene a few times just to keep it short and to the point :) I edit my videos the way I would want to watch them if I was new to bike Building and wanted to learn :)
I’ll go buy some food to keep watching these episodes, nice job boss 👍
Using cardboard is a good, cheap and flexible method to find the right shape. Not to mention how it visulaizes to support our imagination. Easy to find out if one's on the right track. Weld done! ;-)
John Mård you are 100% correct, just got to find somewhere to put the cereal if you haven’t finished it before chopping up the box lol 😂
Loving the build so far. Can't wait to see it finished. Good work man. Let the gods of mods help you.
Nice! Can’t wait to see how you weld those pieces together without blowing through the metal. That’s my biggest struggle with fabricating these. Still haven’t figured it out.
Peter Kowalinski thanx mate,
Try stitch welding and don’t try and weld it all in one go. Test a pce of metal with the welder turned right down
This build is goin nice just ran across your channel and subscribed.
So funny to see you having a RC buggy in the video! I used to race RC buggy's (4wd electro 1/10 scale) professionally for over 7 years when I was young. I even won the Dutch championship in 1992. We have a lot in comon!

those Hitachis ... such good tools. To bad they're no more (Hikoki); who would have thought!
Really liking the Budget build, it will look epic! Cant wait to do low cost build!!
Kane Mansfield it’s fun and challenging all at the same time :) what bike will you do?
Iv just finished a 1984 CB250n that I got for $300 sold as a parts bike, had a very small budget but didn't do anything as awesome as yours.... Just paint, patched exhaust and got everything running :) And now looking at a 1987 cbx750f budget build like the CX500. From NZ :)
Kane Mansfield sounds awesome I’d love to see it. send me an image via Instagram @cafe.racer.garage07 or the Cafe Racer Garage Facebook page :)
Awesome work as always Dan! I just realized I don't need to go buy a new pencil sharpener after all :)
Combustion Junction thank you brother. Yes it’s a cool trick that one and fast. :)
Great video, Dan... 2 comments: 1.) you have superhuman bike lift pumping powers and 2.) where would we be without cardboard? 😎. Have a great week, Mate.
Gary A thank you buddy, sorry for the delay in my response, like takes over sometimes
what thickness/type of metal you using it looks to be 3mm carbon steel but just confirming?
Apologies if this has been asked/addressed before.. but doesn’t sawing off that cross brace really weaken the structural integrity of the bike??
Nice work, I think its going to look awesome so the support you took out that is not structural? I did not look like it however it did have gussets so not sure. Love the Baja looks like something that would side track me for hours!
MidwestMotoRider thank you mate :)
I will be adding more steel so I’m not worried about removing those gussets. Great spotting tho. Yes the Baja is a lot of fun :)
Have you thought about making the electric's tray with a L shaped "lip" that rests over the frame?
Kevin Lam very good idea and I may possibly do that at that but weld it on so it fits perfectly. Thank you for the idea Kevin :)
hey, just started my own scrambler build after binging your build during lockdown. I've come back to what through this vid as i need to start the metal fabrication. could you please let me know what type of sheet metal you used, thank you. from the UK x
CXs have the worst frames. Good on you for trying to make it work.
Justin Brown it’s fun to make something unique even if it takes a long time. And you are 100% right ;) they are very different frames
What's the gauge/thickness of the sheet metal used? Thanks.
Glad this comment was in here, came here specifically for it. Thanks for your videos!
Hey man how you doing
my name is Erman Steiner, i am living in austria and i am a recent fan of your youtube channel.
I have a big problem. I am 6.3'' (192cm) and i am a biker rookie. i am making my license right now. I fell i love with the traditional scrambler style bikes with the modern looks. But as my first bike i want to build a scrambler during the winter here.
my question: what would be a good base for a scrambler for my size? it has to be 500cc preferably more, and preferably air-cooled. And i love kickstarters
i really want a big size (frame) scrambler to fit me. i dont want to look like im riding a pocket bike. also it has to be comfortable because i want to be able to ride tours occasionally. I checked many forums and i ended up with two options 1. The suzuki KLR 650 or 2. Honda NX Dominator 500 - 650
but i like to hear your opinion. What to look at? Maybe more cc ? (bit i am not a speed junkie although i want to able to ride on highways and overtake if Necessary etc. etc.
Greetings From Austria
kind regards
Erman
First up a big thank you, It's very hard for me to give you an answer on the best bike because of a few factors, 1. your budget 2. your skill on building bikes and what tools, knowledge along with what you want to do with it for eg: cut and weld the frame, front end swap, change wheel size ect ect. as you can see its not easy for my to give you the right answer, however a scrambler is a great bike for tall guys like us, (Im 6.2") as they naturaly sit higher off the ground making them taller and look normal, my advice is to find a bike brand/model that you know has been converted into what you what so jump onto pintrest and look up scramblers, Spend a lot of time doing this so you can be sure its the right bike for you, nothing worse than buying a bike that you find out later cant be changed into what you want. remember you can always change the position of the handlebars to suit your size and id go sit on a few bikes if you can just to see how they feel but your on the right track with doing your research first :) I cant give you the exact bike that will be the best choice for you but I love the Yamaha XT 600 as a scrambler :) its a kick start too 👍
I play Nona Simone bird on a wire every morning
Which battery is used what are specifications
kamalpal singh this is the battery I’m using brother (Shorai Lithium Battery) Check this link for all the specs :) amzn.to/2Lzl7tC
noooooooooo - go with the battery mounted down by the rear-swingarm pivot - it'll be so cool PLUS you won't need to worry about lengthening the power cables :)
I may use that lower position when I do the other CX500 build but I want to keep the electrics as high as posable on the scrambler if you know what I mean :)
my bad - I'm clearly having difficulty keeping up with ow many builds you've got going! :)
i keep hoping he blasts those heads and paints them black , then does the Honda logo in red.
Is that a new work stand there fella??
Are you talking about my Super Jaw (Foot Vise)? amzn.to/2MAkobp This would be by far the handiest tool I own
What battery are you using and how is it working?
Andrew Siegel Shorai Lithium Battery (Same one I’m using) amzn.to/2Lzl7tC
I did a lot of research and this battery will not only work well but last a very long time even when I’m not using it :) cool hay 👍
Cafe Racer Garage thanks! Been looking for a low profile battery. Cheers
I love that you took the time to match the shape of the frame to the electronics box. Excellent work. Next!!!
