The advantage of the Bad Monkey is that it has a bass control. Tube Screamers can rob bass from your tone so being able to dial more in is very handy. The Nobles isn’t actually a Tube Screamer circuit. It imparts more flavour to your tone. I wish I’d bought one when they were cheap. My finger hovered over the buy button many times.
The Nobels ODR-1 is NOT a TS and has nothing to do with it. The goal was to get a transparent sound without midrange boost. It was a big mistake to paint it green back then....best regards from the Nobels team
Yes completely understand that now, thanks again for the feedback. Question for you,.Which Nobel's product do you personally feel do you think doesn't get the exposure it deserves?
Great video Mike... they all have a sound of their own... so many pedals do that thang in a way. I've got the JHS Bonsai, among others... I think I'm covered! 😎🎸🤘🐦
I have original early 80’s Japanese made TS9 and I got to say that Nobles ODR1 sounds awesome. If you want to really hear the difference in sound use good set of headphones. Watch prices double on these after Mike’s review. As always, fantastic comparison video Mike!
The Jacques pedal has option to cascade the tubescreamer circuit, like SRV running 2 screamers basically. Maybe try a "Stevie-esque shootout" and dial the pedals in more. The mid hump responds well to being pushed on some pedals.
Your 805 sounded the best to me--much more open sound than the others, including the Maxon. The Nobles was my second favorite, then the Ibanez. But really the 805 was the only one I liked. But then I like my Tumnus and Klon style overdrives rather than tube screamer type overdrives, so I'm not the best one to judge among tube screamers.
Nice vid mate. The two pedals did sound closely similar. If you didn't know, it would be hard to tell. Both were mellow to me, and I don't have a tube screamer, so? A deeper dive into those pedals would be cool. Mix it up a bit eh
The Nobles definitely going to go up in value now. I have the Ts808 dual drive with boost Which comes in handy. Ts9 has a better sound. There's no wrong one here, everyone needs a little bit of grit and dirt. It would be great if you did the same Video but with fuzzes.
They all sounded good. I thought the Maxon was the best of the tubescreamers. Not as spikey. The Seymour Duncan had a nice bite to it. The Nobels was the most different. It had a great bite to it and a fuller sound to me. Now I'm basing this on listening through my phone speakers while I'm sitting here having my breakfast. I should probably use headphones 😁
I’m sure loads of people have already said this…but the Nobels is not a Tube Screamer
So true. It’s practically the complete opposite of a Tube Screamer. Haha!
That's why the joke is: the other green OD. EQ-wise, they tend to be totally different.
True, that’s probably why it sounded the best! 😂

@@MikeBradleyofficial There are still a lot of sleepers among the old pedals. For example the PRE-1 or the TRX-Tremolo....
I will definitely have to check those out! :)
I received 805 a yr ago as a gift. But bought another 1 yesterday 😂
Bad Monkey and Nobel are favourites

Aww thank you buddy
I currently am using an Odr1. I like the fullness
Thank you very much!
Have played TS9 and TS-808, both great, but Bad Monkey is my most favorite.

Good suggestions buddy.
Great shootout btw....🙂

Very interesting! Thanks for the feedback Matt. And yes that Tumnus is a great sounding pedal.
