- It was a chance at $1500 in cash and a run on a handful of credit cards. But where honesty can fail some, the moral compass of Tyler Opdyke came shining through.
When I was like 10 I left my Batman wallet on a plane after we departed. It had like $200 in it which had taken me years to save. I remember somebody who had been on the plane with us found it and remembered that I had been in that seat. They literally RAN around the airport looking for me until they found me and returned it to me.
That's one of those things I have NEVER forgotten, now 20 years later.
What a dumbass, he should have kept it
Awww *hugs*
You’re lying
Nathan E dude. That’s not right. He could’ve gotten arrested for that shit! I hate that people think it’s ok to steal others shit... Especially if they know that the wallet clearly belonged to someone else
Nathan E It's called honesty and integrity, Nathan. If you dropped your wallet, wouldn't you want it back?
The world needs way more people like this, not just kids adults too.
i was thinking about returning wallets if I stumble upon them, but I don't want to become a news story just for doing what's right. i think i'll just keep what I find in the future.
@@SoyAntonioGaming ln stead of that how about then you mail it in if you don't want to be a media spectacle?
😁his parents must be so proud. I know I would be...
hes living with our aunt bbbbuuut shes proud
Being honest is white privilege. He's obviously a racist.
CaligulaThe Great lmao what? Are you serious ?
Jordan Velazquex *woosh* you missed the joke.
Pedro Delgado *woosh* you missed the joke.
If only we could get more people like him, that would be great. Having your stuffs lost really sucks so having them returned by good people is a blessing.
Let's have more people like him right now, starting with ourselves.
He did not face a "true test of character", he has character, he parents did good, in raising a honest adult!
Spanishpac you didn't get taught good though *his *an
@@milacan9676 You knew what he meant chill.
Spanishpac I would of put more money in there and then returned it. Who’s a good guy now LMAO
Why is it always the parents? Maybe his parents are raising him like shit and he has developp this "good" character alone. Give him his credit not the parents.
Good for you dude, this world needs more people like you
Nah, we don't need more people like him. You yourself need to become that kind of person.
That is well raised young man. We need more children like this!
We need more PARENTS like his.
@@Parallaxus that
His parents are fucking assholes actually. HE is just a good kid

SuperStarMcAwesome how so?
Michael Shanklin Yes!
That quote is amazing hope you don't mind me using it myself.
Michael Shanklin uhhh bullcrap

He's the 2nd young man I've seen in a video returning personal belongings.
We all need to be like this. 👌🏾
His parents really proud of him. He is a young man that we should look up to 😍❤️❤️❤️
for the last time guys he is living with our aunt
Plot twist: His parents abused him for not taking the money that they 'Desperately' need.
He lowkey went back to juug😎

Thank you Tyler, very cool!
Plot twist: The video was reversed 🤣
Have a good day okay lol
That is a young man that was raised right. He's a good kid. So nice to see something like that on this day and age.
In America doing the honest thing...i.e. not stealing another person's cash and credit cards...is considered something really admirable and therefore gets to be a news item.
Brian McNamara: So true, heart warm story almost made some people weep. Yet in the good old days in USA, Stories like this would be normal... no one will take it as a news.
WithAStick AngryWhiteMan thats just the news filtering out good news for more viral tragic stories
Cuz that never happend before lol ...
Sooo people dont steal anywhere else but America? 🙄
Was just thinking this. This should be a natural thing. It's called common courtesy. I don't understand why it's newsworthy.
Great job, young man! I’m soooo proud of you!! 💓💓
Wow! Tyler, u are so honest! GOD bless u & your family, Tyler! Yes, i really hope the owner of the wallet would repay Tyler's kindness out of his willing heart & follow his heart without anybody knowing & GOD bless!
Deborah Pearl Kindness is not meant to be repaid. But if you insist simple act of kindness to others of one who drop it, is the best way to repay it.
남자사이먼 cmon bruh the girl should at least give him a quicc succ
real heroes don't need rewards for any kindness period.
Deborah Pearl No..the owner should not feel obligated to repay his kindness..... (just a bonus that he did) The WHOLE POINT is to do the right thing....regardless of payment. The owner...hopefully...learned a lesson of honesty and returns this favor the next chance HE gets to be honest...when no one is looking. THAT IS THE TRUE AND RIGHTFUL WAY TO REPAY KINDNESSES
@@Brenda0312F it's not wrong to assume the owner of the wallet isn't just as honest as the one who found the wallet. It's also perfectly understandable to assume that he would want to encourage that honesty in this young man by rewarding him, with the safe assumption that he will likely pay it forward in some way, thus keeping the "do the right thing" theme in play which we all should strive for anyway, reward or not!
A huge loss to any employer out in his corner of the world if they don't scout him out !
That was the best job interview he could have given .
Good luck in life Tyler .

Not only is this teen awesome but you are truly a great soul !!!!
When I see stories like this it restores my faith and gives me hope that their are still wonderful, decent, honest people in this crazy world we live in. It's too bad that good stories more often than not go untold.

Well, someone with more money than you or me. $1500 isn’t a lot of money for some people.
@@jackd2083 maybe for like 2% of the country. $1500 is $1500, most people don't carry cany cash at all.
Agree if your dumb enough to carry around that much lol people are dummy’s
This should be common sense.
common sense? the kid placed the wallet in front of the entrance and walked away.. 1,500 completely exposed to any passer-byer. mental
2:04 "Before placing it UNDER the door mat and continuing on"
Here's one who believes everything heard from a journalist. The wallet is visibly sitting on the door matt when he walks away.
Ppl now a days have no common sense, that's the problem!..
Yea, take all the money and run
2:04 Clearly he placed the wallet on top of the doormat and not under it.
Mavoc he should of put it on the bottom
u say that but they might not ever find it lol u would have to keep going back knocking on there door

That shit was hilarious 😂
Very nice of you to give him back his wallet
God bless this young man. The riches he seeks are not of this earth.
I lost my wallet in the city center a few years ago. It had everything in it!
I put a public status on Facebook and to my surprise, got a message request a few days later from a woman who found it. I met her the next day and she got a very nice reward $$$ which she didn’t even want to take! The amount of hassle she saved me.., pay it forward, people...
1:50 I think this is the real message... people are afraid of opening their doors, how sick does a country have to be to feel like this every day... That nice dude can't fix that...
I don't like to open the door either, have a fear ever since someone asked to use the bathroom and I told him no. Who knows if he just wanted to use the bathroom or case the place. I felt like shit but who knows what his motive was and I was a little kid at the time.
while throwing a party at home I opened the door to some shady guys who wanted to join, i told then no.. they didn't take it well, pulled a knife out. I kicked them off the stairs, they flew out like untrained baby birds. I'm not a fighter, i'm not tough, just stand your man and show who's boss.. because people are scared it only gets worse and worse... people who want to do harm will do it anyways.. a door won't stop them... or did i just scared the shit out of you now?
Totally scared, can't even leave my room now.
poor you, good luck living
Peppironi89 in Indonesia we open the door for everyone.😊😊
Thats the kind of kid that probably said no 3 times to the $150 dollar reward but the owners insisted so the kid took it then, I bet.
Never hand it to the cops. Chances are it will disappear
the cash would be put in the general fund the rest in the trash
bob migarski of in the cop's pocket
They take it and blame u for theft
What wallet
No that does’t happen...My wallet has been at the police station before and everything was left as is including the notes
This kids parents raise a gentleman. Congrats to both the wallet owner, the kid, and the parents who raised him.
Yes! That's what being a HUMAN being and a TRUE American is all about. God bless him a hundredfold.
Great job buddy. And great job mom and dad for raising such a stand up youg man!
need more people like this
I went to a Metallica concert when I was a teenager and my dad found a wallet with like $530 and two tickets in the parking lot. My dad was just dropping me and my mom off and then he was going to spend the day with his family as he grew up right outside Atlantic City. He took it to a cop directing traffic. The poor guy who lost it was basically told by a different cop "you need to cancel your credit cards, as it's not very likely you're going to get it back". Long story short, my dad walked me and my mom up to the gate and was walking back to the car when two cops called him over. He actually got nervous and thought he'd be in trouble for something, but noticed one was the cop he turned it in to. The one cop had radioed that cop and asked "hey has anyone turned in a wallet near lot whatever (I don't remember the lot letter/number) and this cop said yes. So the guy got his wallet back and they were surprised that nothing was taken. The cop said the guy was so damn grateful that he was tearing up. They'd travelled from Ohio for the festival and lost their tickets, all their cash, and everything in the wallet, they thought. Anyways, the cops call my dad over when they see him walking back and literally walk him to the concert security who put him on a golf cart and escort him in to the venue and gave him a 2 day pass. Those were expensive fucking tickets! It even said on the wristband "comp". He called us to ask where we were while we were at this one stand buying tshirts and he walks up behind us grinning from ear to ear literally shaking because it was so cool. Long story short, always do the right thing. It'll pay off. My dad just wanted to set a good example for me, and ended up getting comp tickets for a 2day pass to a Metallica concert, and was escorted in by security. Doing the right thing always pays off, even it's just bringing relief to the person who lost the item.
Brianna Gordy fuck I wish I could go to a Metallica concert
A Great young man. 😊
Your a good kid Bud , wish more were like you
1500$ is a life changing amount of money for someone like me.. To lose that I would have been emotionally distraught and probably homeless. Good character you're showing there brotha. Good on you. Should start a go fund me page and raise the 1500$ he returned to the fortunate family.
Christopher Kolombus Why? Stupid idea..
Christopher Kolombus the money he deserves to have? It wasn’t even his money lol
Connor Brady it could have been.. Very easily could have been if he just didn't do the right.
Christopher Kolombus exactly so why would anybody start a fund me page for someone that did what they’re supposed to do hahah
Connor Brady no one's asking your ass to donate. So stfu and gtfou
The perfect boy. His parents must be very proud
He a really good guy, but if I was in that situation that money would be gone.
Night Man imma say it this way. If it wasnt in a wallet. And just laying in the ground. Then i would have kept it becauze there is really no returning it at that point. But if it was in a wallet then i would have definitely returned it.
Lol u a savage..i like that
Everyone could say they wouldn’t, but when faced with the situation the majority would keep it
Yes, odds are most would. Sad side of human nature. A lot of times, our words belie our actions.
Last time I tried to help someone I got accused of stealing the phone. I saw the thief and reported it but according to the teacher since I was the last to see it I must have stole it. The teacher got promoted to headmaster at the end of the year, the girl got all the sympathy, thief got the phone and I was left with all the blame and label of thief for 3 years just because I stuck my neck out to help. I've grown wiser now. I won't risk my life or reputation for anyone except family and close friends.
This kid had good parenting. Respect to the parents.
Honest, the best policy.
It's nice to see that there is still good people in the world that do the right thing.
would a “nice guy” ever do this? nah, real men don’t call themselves nice, they show it with their actions like this man.
Yes, kudos to mom dad and that young man. The years of teachings shine right through! Ty!

I turned in $17. I found in a Walmart parking lot, and being unemployed at the time I asked if no one called to claim it in 3 weeks if I could have it.
Walmart said they were keeping it for themselves. I thought this was wrong.

I was walking with my 5year old child when this person dropped a stack of money. I had her run up to him to hand it back. The guy didn’t even thank us! But no matter what, the lesson to my child was “treat others how you would want to be treated!” It was very tempting since it looked like a lot of money&lord knows i need it but still it wouldn’t feel right!
Well done.
Wow so there is still good people out there. Thank you for sharing

God bless your heart brother you're a good man wish there was more people like you in this world your parents raised you well brother God bless
I was in the Mac Donalds with my bff. When we saw a wallet on the ground. We were like:'Should we give it to the mac persons?'. Because we didn't know what they would do but we couldn't let lay on the ground because someone would maybe take it. So we gave it to the mac people. Ten minutes later we were eating and next to use was this big group of people. The waiter asked the group if someone lost ther wallet. Some boy said:'OMG😱 I TOUGHT I LOST IT, I am so happy and relieved'. Me and my friend saw how happy the boy was when he got the wallet back. We were very proud of us. He never knew it was us but we didn't really care.
Btw my bike is stolen soo Now I know what it would feel like if you lose something important. it kinda sucks because it was my first real bike that I got that wasn't already used by 2 or 3 other people and it was for the first time that I had a new new bike and now its stolen😣
You're a humble and kind person in a world full of people who are either actively evil or passively cynical. I am happy for you, just don't let the world ruin the good parts of you because trust me, it will try to.
Great job, Mr. Opdyke! Doing the right thing should be its own reward, but some positive recognition in this day and age of persistent bad news is good too. Thanks!

I don't want to be the shallow one here but if these people were dropping 2k on a single dinner and this honest good kid gave it and all their credit cards back they should have given way more. I would have, key words for a feast, one meal so they have money. You should give what you can afford.
I did the same thing and got something in return money can't buy, well sometimes but not very often and not for anything less than a small fortune. And no not love or friendship.
