  • It was a chance at $1500 in cash and a run on a handful of credit cards. But where honesty can fail some, the moral compass of Tyler Opdyke came shining through.

    When I was like 10 I left my Batman wallet on a plane after we departed. It had like $200 in it which had taken me years to save. I remember somebody who had been on the plane with us found it and remembered that I had been in that seat. They literally RAN around the airport looking for me until they found me and returned it to me.
    That's one of those things I have NEVER forgotten, now 20 years later.

      Deborah Pearl No..the owner should not feel obligated to repay his kindness..... (just a bonus that he did) The WHOLE POINT is to do the right thing....regardless of payment. The owner...hopefully...learned a lesson of honesty and returns this favor the next chance HE gets to be honest...when no one is looking. THAT IS THE TRUE AND RIGHTFUL WAY TO REPAY KINDNESSES

    • @Beezlie727
      @Beezlie727 6 років тому

      @@Brenda0312F it's not wrong to assume the owner of the wallet isn't just as honest as the one who found the wallet. It's also perfectly understandable to assume that he would want to encourage that honesty in this young man by rewarding him, with the safe assumption that he will likely pay it forward in some way, thus keeping the "do the right thing" theme in play which we all should strive for anyway, reward or not!

    I went to a Metallica concert when I was a teenager and my dad found a wallet with like $530 and two tickets in the parking lot. My dad was just dropping me and my mom off and then he was going to spend the day with his family as he grew up right outside Atlantic City. He took it to a cop directing traffic. The poor guy who lost it was basically told by a different cop "you need to cancel your credit cards, as it's not very likely you're going to get it back". Long story short, my dad walked me and my mom up to the gate and was walking back to the car when two cops called him over. He actually got nervous and thought he'd be in trouble for something, but noticed one was the cop he turned it in to. The one cop had radioed that cop and asked "hey has anyone turned in a wallet near lot whatever (I don't remember the lot letter/number) and this cop said yes. So the guy got his wallet back and they were surprised that nothing was taken. The cop said the guy was so damn grateful that he was tearing up. They'd travelled from Ohio for the festival and lost their tickets, all their cash, and everything in the wallet, they thought. Anyways, the cops call my dad over when they see him walking back and literally walk him to the concert security who put him on a golf cart and escort him in to the venue and gave him a 2 day pass. Those were expensive fucking tickets! It even said on the wristband "comp". He called us to ask where we were while we were at this one stand buying tshirts and he walks up behind us grinning from ear to ear literally shaking because it was so cool. Long story short, always do the right thing. It'll pay off. My dad just wanted to set a good example for me, and ended up getting comp tickets for a 2day pass to a Metallica concert, and was escorted in by security. Doing the right thing always pays off, even it's just bringing relief to the person who lost the item.

      Last time I tried to help someone I got accused of stealing the phone. I saw the thief and reported it but according to the teacher since I was the last to see it I must have stole it. The teacher got promoted to headmaster at the end of the year, the girl got all the sympathy, thief got the phone and I was left with all the blame and label of thief for 3 years just because I stuck my neck out to help. I've grown wiser now. I won't risk my life or reputation for anyone except family and close friends.

    I was in the Mac Donalds with my bff. When we saw a wallet on the ground. We were like:'Should we give it to the mac persons?'. Because we didn't know what they would do but we couldn't let lay on the ground because someone would maybe take it. So we gave it to the mac people. Ten minutes later we were eating and next to use was this big group of people. The waiter asked the group if someone lost ther wallet. Some boy said:'OMG😱 I TOUGHT I LOST IT, I am so happy and relieved'. Me and my friend saw how happy the boy was when he got the wallet back. We were very proud of us. He never knew it was us but we didn't really care.
    Btw my bike is stolen soo Now I know what it would feel like if you lose something important. it kinda sucks because it was my first real bike that I got that wasn't already used by 2 or 3 other people and it was for the first time that I had a new new bike and now its stolen😣

    I don't want to be the shallow one here but if these people were dropping 2k on a single dinner and this honest good kid gave it and all their credit cards back they should have given way more. I would have, key words for a feast, one meal so they have money. You should give what you can afford.
    I did the same thing and got something in return money can't buy, well sometimes but not very often and not for anything less than a small fortune. And no not love or friendship.
