Yes, it is true. I am a Canadian Caucasian redhead, never knew about lotion til Bill told me. Bill also helped me learn the word Ashy. And I’m 59. I believe the younger women today know far more about this ie: my daughter who is 27, is forever now gifting me lotion. 😅
Yes same here didn’t know about lotion until this Bill Burr sketch like 18 months ago. My head must’ve been up my wazoo during the 10 years I was in the Army. I had plenty of Black friends and never noticed this or if I did I didn’t make the connection!!??🤔
I'm a black Canadian man who is 44, soon to be 45, and I've been told numerous times that I look younger than my age. It's either because of good genes and moisturizer or, like they say, black don't crack. Lol. Cheers my fellow 🇨🇦
This was a lovely surprise.two of favorite youtubers in a collab! Smexy gravely rocker mom and Articulate always smilin' bald dude.....Seriously this made my week, keep on keepin' on both of y'all
It's a white male thing. All the girls I've pretty much ever known use lotion (except for some hippie chicks) but only a few of my guy friends did. For myself, I always had oily skin till I was in my mid-20's, so using lotion just made my breakouts worse.
Love that you got Just Jen for this. I've followed her channel from the early days when she discovered certain Finnish metal band and it's beautiful amazon singer. BTW Jen i can understand fillers and some boob jobs. Just that so many go overboard with it. I know that you are a beautiful woman and have beautiful soul as well. And now that you have gotten your self-confidence back and ditched those bad relationships you had gone over, you just radiate this positivity and we love you for sharing your trials and tribulations with us. So thx Jen. And of course thank you too Mr . Lboyd. I really love your channel. Be well ,both of you.
White male here, I grew up in a neighborhood with a diverse mix of people. So, I know about lotion and heard my friends talk about being ashy. So Bill is right, you got to hang around everybody.
It is true. Im an Irish American - as white as Bill Burr - and apparently I appear 10 years younger than I am...but I might use up to 6 oz of lotion per year - 4 of it on my privates. I probably look younger because I live very cleanly (no drugs, no tobacco, very little alcohol)and I have naturally oily skin, and consume about a gallon of water every day.
I’m white and I didn’t know to use lotion until I was 13 and moved to a school with a lot of people with a much darker completion, in my ignorance I actually asked a teacher “why are the black kids always putting lotion on?” And apparently the melanin in non-white skin dries the skin faster, potentially causing ashiness or even cracked skin
It's more than a real thing. Didn't know about lotion until this bill burr skit. I've been putting lotion on my entire body every day since the age of 37. I'm now 39. I'm white, none of my friends put lotion on.... ever... let alone every day.
I totally get it. I don't use lotion. I'd much rather be dried out than tacky... clothes sticking to you, every bit of dust in the room sticking to you, what a mess. I can't handle that. It's like being a magnet in a bowl of metal shards. Lol.

The uncomfortable look on this woman’s obviously altered face this entire video is great. Her denial is classic. “If I had plastic surgery, I’d look like this…” Exactly! That’s exactly what you look like. Your face didn’t change! 😂
I'm a product of boarding school and have had many Caucasian roommates. I could never get ready for school faster than them because they never used lotion. They always woke up 15min before breakfast and to shower and get dressed.
Growing up in the south, there wasn't a need for lotion or even in the UK. But, in the Midwest, definitely. I actually have scarring from not using lotion in the winter.

It wasn't until I saw Bruce, RIP, casually apply it at work to his hands. Now, I apply petroleum jelly to my feet on a regular basis, in emergencies I have applied lip balm to the tip of my nose when it is dry, and I have no "unmanly" qualms about using it when it is needed. I stockpile it.
Love the collaboration!!! I watch you regularly. (sub) I've seen her channel a few times. She is a very pretty woman, but like me, (I'm old) you can tell we had more fun than was advisable while "maturing". 😉
I use all sorts of skin creams and lotions and butter for almost 20 years now, but usually just on the face and neck. Not often elsewhere, except the hands. 48-year old pale white dude.
We didn't use lotion much when I was a kid. In our defense, I was a kid in the 70s and '80s and lotion just wasn't very good yet. You would put lotion on your hands and you would be unable to turn a door knob for an hour and a half. Plus, I grew up in Houston where it is very humid so, 1) we didn't experience as much dry skin and, 2) humidity makes greasy lotion even greasier on your skin. You would apply the lotion, go outside, and sweat it all back out all over your clothes.
I’m a 37 year old whitey. I never knew about putting on lotion after the shower. I will use working hands by okeefes when my hands finally start to crack and bleed in the winter
I never knew you're supposed to put it just after showers. I only ever did it when my legs got itchy or at random times.... better than nothing I suppose.
I love Bill Burr, but I honestly don't understand why everyone treats the anecdotal evidence from his lotion bit seriously, instead of consulting an actual dermatologist and realizing that everyone's skin is different. It also makes me wonder whether Asians and Latinos use it, since the conversation at times seems to be dominated by African-Americans and Caucasians.
BRO!! You got some good lookin friends! I tell you.I can relate the the whole lotion thing. Im a tilesetter . I always know when winters coming , becauuse my hands start to crack. Gotta break out the lotion just to survive!!
I’m late, but amen to that. Absolutely hate the feeling of being covered with any level of oil or liquids in general. 29 years and no lotion, and keeping it that way. I don’t really get itchy anyway.
i'm mixed, almost exclusively raised by my white mother, and until i saw Bill Burr a few years back i NEVER used any lotion.... Now i'm always glistening ;)
I tell people, our women use it, but as a man, we get made fun of by other white guys for using it!! Black people never make fun of you for using lotion!
@MrLboyd Reacts Can you do Thatsingerreactions and Disfunktional TV. There are a lot of Burr vids they have yet to encounter. I am loving this dual reactions you are doing. What a great idea. :)
White guy here. I’ve barely ever used lotion my whole life unless I have a specific dry skin issue. There are definitely people with naturally dry skin, but I also think the more you use lotion, the more you need it, because your body produces less of the natural oils. So once you have a habit of using it, the more you will need to. 🤷🏻♂️
I use lotion on my face, but that’s it. When I use to shower/scrub my skin every day, I would get dry, but natural body oils will keep that from happening once your body adapts :) Just like hair…. People who wash their hair every day, complain their hair gets oily within 24 hours…. It doesn’t happen to people who don’t wash their hair so often! (Side note: It’s highly recommended to only wash your hair twice a week 😊)
Yep, white Englishman here, i don't own any lotion, i think a lot of the younger generations do take better care of their skin, and much like mr Burr i've just attributed itchiness to other things.
I occasionally use some face lotion after I've shaved or if I've taken a shower and it feels I do dry but I still have never taken to using hand lotion, let alone any type of body lotion I probably should but it doesn't show it's just not noticeable. So yeah it's a real thing he's joking but he's not joking!
The punch line was reinforced by what he was doing physically - the white friend scratching as he was talking. It didn't look like she was watching him.
Oil is better than lotion, in my opinion. Mix of castor and a thinner oil like sweet almond or jojoba. Then, a drop of essential oil for the smell. It's great for skin and hair. Just use a small amount. Just enough for your epidermis to absorb and no more. Your skin will be more elastic and stronger.
I’m Hispanic, never have put lotion on my skin, but my skin tends to be oily. Growing up, I also only saw my mother put on lotion, not my father. Maybe that had an influence on me. Lol
I'm pretty sure your friend is in the 1:03 mark for a video on youtube titled Marilyn Manson and Tyler Bates performing Sweet Dreams (Acoustic) live on italian TV show MUSIC. If it's not her then they look very similar. Rock on,sir!
It is true of older generations for sure. My father as well as all my friend's fathers hardly washed their faces let alone took showers regularly lmfao
Not going to lie, at first I thought he was reacting to someone else reacting to Bill Burr, and then she started to respond to him and it threw me for a loop
I sweat WAY too much to even consider lotion. I tried using lotion starting about 9 years ago and I felt nothing short of oily. I felt like I was covered in grease wherever it was placed. To this day I sweat way too much to use lotion. I actively use bar soap to dry out my skin because I produce so much oily skin residue. When I walk around outside in temperatures above 60 degrees Fahrenheit, I always have a towel on my belt to wipe off the sweat from my face and arms. I hate it so much. My ideal temperatures are 40s and 50s. I can accept some low 60s as long as the wind is blowing more than 10 miles an hour. Otherwise I'm just a heaping load of sweat. I actively need to dry myself out.
That's actually a normal reaction. You probably get enough natural oils from your diet. The lotion/oils that some people use can block skin pores and hair follicles and can even raise the body temperature. This is especially a problem for many men since they tend to sweat easier and in a larger volume than women. Cold temperatures a responsible for dry skin, but this usually affects delicate skin on the face and hands more-so than the places on the body that tend to sweat the most. Even so, moisturizing the face constantly seems pointless when some of the biggest oil secretion occurs on the nose/cheeks. It does make some sense after a shower, though, but mainly for the face. Generally, If you're a dude and you recently showered, chances are you're likely going to secrete oils and sweat naturally on the body.
I am European. I am white, not exactly of the lightest complexion, but you wouldn't notice if I was "ashy". There was always lotion in my parents house, and there's always lotion in my house. I have 2 kinds of lotion that are just mine, other 2 kinds of lotion that both me and my wife use, and my wife has here own stuff as well. Some of my friends that use lotion too. It's common sense - if your skin is dry, you moisturize. So, yeah, some white man do use lotion.
As a Inuit I don't use lotion and I'm in my 30s, I've been smoking since I was 16, and yet I don't need lotion, but I also live at the border between southern Canada and the US so the moisture in the air here is way different than way up north where I was born, but I look like I'm 19-22 maybe even 17 to some people
White men don't think lotion is girly or like makeup. It's just not something that seems generally necessary. I'm pale as fuck and my skin had been crazy soft for most of my life until I ran into health issues. Now when the wind blows I look like a snow globe if I'm not moisturized. I think it's really just about whether the problem of dry skin is something that we're either aware of or is brought to our attention. But left in a vacuum, it just doesn't come up.
When I itch I remember two things, you on the original video & the Bill Burr. Has it helped. Yes. Do I personally apply lotion regularly no. Why? Because we missed the memo!
