Here is the thing about Bill… he is the smartest person in the room with the sharpest tongue and can make anyone uncomfortably laugh with his humor. He knows how to dissect a person, and create the most awkward situations and either leave them awkward, or make everyone laugh. He is a true master of the comedic craft, especially when it comes to race. He knows he’s an awkward white dude from Boston, and doesn’t have any business saying some of the things he does, but he says them in such a way that it makes you think. He’s amazing.

Totally agreed. For example, the sip of water when he mentions Hitler is very intentional, giving the audience plenty of time to let it sink in. He has this ability to make an entire crowd go from "wait, what did he say?" to "he's making a lot of sense" in a matter of minutes.

y’all giving bill too much credit lol. Bill knows who he is and accepts who he is and doesn’t try to put on an image or anything. That’s why he’s great. Go listen to his podcast. He’s in awkward situations and gets mad and flustered about 20 times a day lol

The guy was surrounded by some of the greats of comedy when he rose up, and frequently toured with the best black comedians in the business. The way he addresses racial humour is so on point, he pushes right up to the line but always wraps it up in a way that makes you think. Hands down my all time favourite comedian.

  • @chaliceb5

Bill Burr really is a phenomenon. When I first saw some of his clips I was like: "Man, that shit he just said is so out of line...what the hell is this?" and 5 seconds later I was holding my belly and almost wet my pants laughing. And the more you see of his stuff you realize he is riding on whatever stereotype, prejudice, cliche or moral inadequacy human personality possibly has to offer. And every so often you (hopefully) notice that there is a big fucking mirror being held in front of you and you realize: "I, myself, am not free from all that, I was just too ignorant or blind to see it." The environment we grow up in shapes our views and beliefs and that unfortunately often includes negative energies that keeps us apart. Human beings live in the dichotomy of being different while coming from the same source, all of us. Our task in life is to acknowledge and respect our differences and realize the greatness of the cosmic spring that put us in this earthly playground.

I love Bill but his act doesn't exist without several groundbreaking acts that came before him. Plus, currently alive and working today, Louis C.K is just as good at it as Bill. Hell, he was head writer for The Chris Rock show back in the day and that show was hilarious.

Bill wants us to laugh at the obvious subjects that need to be laughed at now and then. I love when he says" did you see how quiet it just got in here"!! He brings out what many want to say but he has the balls to bring it out AND have you laugh at it!! The best at putting a mirror to society since George Carlin....Maybe watch more of his bits...good stuff

Bill Burr is at heart a self-deprecating [genius] comedian. The reason he gets away with exposing uncomfortable truths is he rags on himself as much as he rags on anyone or anything else. This balance is perfect and his timing, as you note, is perfect.

I grew up in a city that is majority melonated skinned people. The first true African-American I ever was a pale pasty white dude with a British accent from Zimbabwe. His family fled when Rhodesia became Zimbabwe and hunted down former members of the government or military. It was similar to South Africa’s history. I’ve had 4 friends from countries in Africa, and none of them liked that term for melonated people born in America. They’ve found it equivalent to cultural appropriation of Sudanese, Rewandan, or South African historical suffering. I have no dog in that fight, but I’ll side respectfully with my friends with real reason to have an opinion.
Thanks for the great content. Just started watching your videos and glad I’m subscribed to see more.

He, Bill Burr is married to an American Woman who is black. It's just his style. Like Dave Chappell he really just wants to be funny, people getting offended be damned. He is never really distasteful or disrespectful to anyone, he just wants people to find comedy in real life events.

He's from Boston and talks about it all the time. I haven't caught the last few seasons but his Netflex cartoon series about him growing up in Boston in the 70s is very solid.

Thank you so much sir for calling yourself an AMERICAN instead of AA. I've said for years to just pick ONE, but not both. Picking BOTH makes you sound like you're better than everyone else IMO. I think YOU are the only black person that I have ever heard pick just ONE. Burr is awesome and makes people think about a different perspective than we have always looked at things. BTW: I am White. I am an AMERICAN, not European AMERICAN or English AMERICAN or Russian AMERICAN or...However I am fine with NATIVE AMERICAN for some reason.
