Horrible drivers in Washington especially on I-5 . No turn signals ,tailgating and general idiotic people who shouldn't have driver's licenses . No surprise about pile ups & shootings. I'm surprised that I haven't had a stroke just from yelling or my head hasn't been blown off from the air bag from punching the steering wheel
People can’t drive now. Too busy using their phones, eating, drinking, taking drugs, fixing makeup. Look at all the garbage along America’s roads along with the weeds cities, towns, and states don’t take care of along with the roads, no new blacktop. What happened to all that federal money giving to states for roads, bridges?
Too many roads and bridges. Not enough for all of them. Older infrastructure on the east coast is probably getting more mo. Plus roads & bridges need rebuilding after Hurricane Helene now too.

Because, thanks to social media, everyone is an expert at speculative narcissistic know it all opinions. It happened because everyone was not keeping proper distance and speeding. Add the wet roads for an additional reason to not be speeding or following too close. It's past time to get in the habit of winter driving habits. Distance, speed, conditions, and time.
@KristysBirds Why? What good is that going to do? What's done is done. The policeman said speeding was a factor. This magnitude and number of vehicles involved point to improper distance as well, for all of them.
@rankat1841 sure it does, not arguing with that. But if we can't be open about ALL the causation factors, no one learns anything. Just speeding, a single factor, is not the cause. Everyone can move at any speed at all and not crash or crash.

Did you do something stupid that caused a 45 car pile up? Not sure why you're taking offense to the person just asking how it started. The speeding and following too closely made this worse than it needed to be, but they weren't the causal factors
@@SpenserBaez People can go as slow as they want in the right lane, but the left lane is the passing lane. If you aren't passing the cars to the right of you, then you need to get out of that lane. When I first moved here, I didn't know that. My brother and I got pulled over for it while driving to Spokane, even though it was night and there were few people on the freeway. When the cop asked why we were in the left lane, we didn't even know what to say. Once he realized we didn't know that law, he explained it to us and sent us on our merry way.
SB I-5 in the rain? Speed may have been a factor but the actual issue was the sun. The glaring sun hitting at the big turn after the big hill does that. Everyone that's driven that area in the rain and snow know that.
The sad thing about it is we have to really get familiar with using our four-way flashers. Every time a situation in front of you occur turn them on ASAP. Prayers out to everyone, family who was involved. 🙏🏾
How TF do 45 cars get involved in a pile up? Oh.. right.. tailgating, speeding while following too close.. no signals or looking at their surroundings.. Man.. I hope everyone is okay, but this is a perfect example of how bad people are at driving in this state..
It’s across the US, people speeding and tailgating like they are professional drivers in nascar. Semi trucks also driving extra wild now, cops need to write more tickets and take more licenses away.
Outside of distracted driving, unexpected u-turns in weird place, I think there are too many people tailgating, speeding way over the limit, not signaling to merge or even looking before changing lanes is why that happens. Its not as bad as in Colorado, but thats what Ive noticed out here.
I drive an old stick shift Pickup truck with no radio. I keep my distance and never drive over the limit. I have reflective tape on my tailgate and 5 brake lights.
Unless you're in the right lane, that is. I think it's the case that you can go slow in that lane, and everyone else needs to keep that in mind and just deal with it.

I don't see why any of them would get insurance payoffs, unless they didn't hit the person in front of them. If you're following too closely to stop if the person in front of you unexpectedly stops, the accident is considered your fault.
