This is a really good video breakdown of how to play a great SD song, but the "FREE tabs" are not quite what I expected. They are missing a large part of the lesson in that they don't include either the bridge section or the accompaniment to the solo section.
So glad I found this channel. Just great lessons. I always LOVED this band and you break it down perfectly. Thanks a million!!
Great job, now get to work
Fabulous teacher, chords and sounds!
It's good to see someone else who uses the middle finger for more than just expressing an opinion. Covering two strings with one finger leads to quicker play and another finger to add a sixth or ninth to the chord. That chord implied in the N.C. bar is probably an outlined B7 #9.
wonderful !!! Love this song and I appreciate your knowledge and skill.
John that was very clear and easy to follow, thanks mate!
Dude!!! awesomeness x 5. just found your channel and really digging it. gonna check out all you stuff.
Oh yeah they got it from "Song for My Father". No problem; love them both. Great lesson; very good demos; really talented player.
Nice!!!!! one of the most accurate, well taught lessons on YT!!! 1 thing - i believe after the quick D to A at end of chorus, he holds an Asus2, then resolves it to A... (when you get... home) You rock!!!
That's it, dude.
Cool tune, hard song . Love your style❤️👍😉🔆
Such a great lesson John. Stuck in iso with COVID. This is a great way to get through it. Thanks.
Great lesson...much appreciated!!
Fantastic lesson! I like your chord choices here; more doable than some others out there
Excellent lesson - your way of playing E major irritated me first, but the changes are spot on! Thanks!
One of my all-time faves, but thought that the guitarring was so stratospheric that I could never rise to that level. You, my friend, have given me hope, thanx, Bill

Great Lesson, thanks. Just a small note to make it more awesome, On the first G in the chorus, after 1 bar of G embellish it to a Gadd9 (300233), it gives it that kick that the Piano in the song does and makes the change to the A Chord sweeter.
Great job of breaking it down John it made it a lot easier for me love the song.0
.
thanks man. i could never find anything on the internet that i thought was close enough for my ears. one change i made, i changed the E7 to an Emaj9 sounds a little closer. thanks again for your work.

This guy's the real deal!
Hey thanks pal. The thing at 6:00 sounds right to me too and I'll use it.
Great 👍
You rock!!
Definitely Horace Silver. Good point. I love that song.

Love your teaching style guy...very glad to see you back. Seems that you always have a good song for us. That being said, I would like to suggest one that there just isn't a good lesson for out there. An old tune by the Amazing Rhythm Aces...Third Rate Romance...there is this little repeating lick in there that try as I might, I just can't work it out.
Well, even if you don't do that song, I will still tune in to learn what you have to teach. Thanks for all your effort.
Glad you enjoyed the lesson. Check out our Ultimate Guitar Song Collection for more great song lessons.

More than excellent dude

@@guitarcontrol Thank you covid has forced me into early retirement and playing has been a special part of my day.
D Mu major
A Mu major
E Mu major
The Mu major chords make this song magical. As soon as you hear it, you’ll know immediately you just played it correctly.
Please clarify what was the extra added note in a Mu Maj?
@@briankelley7882 the second degree on every
chord. Ex (D add E note, A add B, etc.)
@@briankelley7882
D Mu Maj XXO252
A Mu Maj XO242X
E Mu Maj O241OO
Arpeggiate them
can you explain more you are avoiding the pick on the thirds? I don't think i am ready for hybrid picking, but don't want to pick up bad habits either
His set at Holiday Inn on Thursday's during happy hour is good too. Drinks half price too...
what is the advantage of playing E the way you do???? (you are now top 3 guitar teach on YT : )
Good job. I thought about nit-picking on a couple of areas, but then I realized unless the piano is playing, it makes sense to do what you are doing. So, for a change, I'll just keep my mouth shut LOL.
it's the funk chord B+9. James Brown used it.
Change: F maj 7- Gmaj Fmaj7- Emin Dmaj- Amaj- Emaj- Emaj
Amaj7- G#min7 (You tell yourself your not my kind) Amaj7- C#min7 (but you don't even know your mind) F#min7- Amaj (you could have a change of heart) B+9*[turn-around]*
In the verse it should be Dadd2 Aadd2. Not just regular D and A major. It adds some steely dan flavor. The chorus should be E9 to start and the second half should start on Cmaj7.
In the second part of the chorus I believe it’s Cmaj7 and Emin7 as opposed to regular C and Em chords.
Csus2
Great lesson - but listening to the original, I think where you have A should be Asus2, E7 should be E9 (with no 3rd), and the funky lick should go to F# on the 2nd note, not D#. Try this and let me know if it's not more faithful to the original.
I’ve read elsewhere that the intro is indeed based on the Horace Silver tune.
I believe the Solo Part is almost correct: D-AG D-A-G Fmaj7-Gmaj7 Fmaj7-Em7 D-A-E Amaj9 thanks!
🏁👍
They admitted that they got that riff from Horace Silver!
Yo Beck!
I'd love to see a "Hey Nineteen" tutorial.
awful song. don't learn it.
They 100% did get the opening from Horace Silver, they've talked about this.
Yes, Songs From My Father, complete rip off
Should have been sued for plagiarism
@@ralex3697 well, hip hop got them back, ripped them off brilliantly umpteen times
I want to find someone teaching us how to play the bass line and double stop riffs at the same time.
Good luck....LOL
some of the changes are wrong, beginning chorus is off
That is not a major, nor is that e minor, nor is that d major please clarify
Close but not exact
Bm/G on solo part the G sounds funny the first time
Asus2-Asus2-Amaj (When you get home). E-B-B ....E-B-B
The tab link didn't work. I had to go to ultimate guitar as usual.
Yeah, what is up with that? You would think it would be working correctly by NOW!?
Rikki don't lose that tab sheet.
Bahaha!! Amazing. 😁
booyakasha!
It's not too bad man, but you're missin the suspended 4ths on the C sharp and B Major chords and a few other "nuances" so far, the sus 9 in the chorus, "on the G chord" the C Major 7th chord in the chorus is correct, the chord progression during the solo section is good, but when you impersonate, the melody on the guitar, the vibrato isn't bad, but your missing out the legato slurs, and, just one last thing, the "motife" during the intro the 2 nd measure is anticipated by a 16th of the measure. But like I said, not too bad man, keep it up. Peace out man, GD.
