Awesome series this year, sure to fire up any steelheader for the upcoming season which technically is upon us. Like Dukeumnukum said, the OP during Feb to whenever they close it now is a serious bucket list trip. It should be open until end of March this year, on it's major streams. Braden hooked an angry chrome, it shot across the river like it was launched out of a cannon. Looks like I need to get healed up soon, Lord knows I'm trying. I just got a bump in my VA Disability which gets me resident cost hunting and fishing licenses and tags in Oregon and Idaho. Could this be the year of the monster steelhead? David's buck was a tank! I've heard of a few early big fish, so who knows. Thanks once again for another fantastic Steelhead Road Trip Series!

I told David we need to take the Road Trip to Washington one of these years. 😉 Glad you’re getting some much deserved benefits from the VA, I’m a couple years away from qualifying for the Oregon Pioneer license, which requires 50 continuous years of residency. That’ll save me some dough!
Thanks Todd. It was a fast paced, fun trip. Dave and I are already planning SRT 5. We came up with this idea about 5 years ago. The idea was to fish as much new water as possible, even though we do hit some known spots as well. New water is always the best part.

Just changed out my fishing backpack from summer gear to winter gear so I am ready to go as soon as my river drops back into shape which I hope is soon. My home river on day 4 it was fun watching you start low and work your way up hitting all my usual holes. Great road trip. I can’t wait for it to quit raining enough to get out there
I just use my index finger to manage line coming off the spool. I push my finger down when I don’t want line to come off the spool, the line will rest against your finger until you want to allow more line to peel off to continue the drift.
@@nathanielriesterer9103 no, I should have been more clear. If you watch my initial clip, you can see the swimmer grabbed on to one of his buddy’s kayaks who rowed him to shore above me. I last saw him doing the walk of shame down the highway.
